Excellent value for money and an authentic experience!

I had a very enjoyable stay. 

The house is very well organized, common living room / kitchen spotless clean. Spent 2 nights there, one of which I was the only guest. Spacious room, Japanese style. 

Very friendly and helpful hosts.
Laundry service on demand and for additional fee. 

Location: on the outskirts of the city, near a shinto shrine, 400m from the tram stop. As I like walking, and Nagasaki is ideal for this, I actually only took the tram upon arrival from the railway station and to go to the Atomic Bomb Museum area. I walked the rest of the time and I took a taxi the day I left.

Great, authentic Japanese stay

The owners, Yukari and her husband, and the staff made the difference, They were really nice and helpful. Everything was really clean. I had the tatami room which was really spacious. There is free tea/coffee and toast with jam which is a nice addition looking at the price. There is also a laundry service for 800 yen.
It is also located nicely, 5 minutes away from a tram station (line 3 and 5) and just 10 seconds away from a shinto shrine that you have to visit. 
To reach Kagamiya, you can get tram 5 (Hotarujaya) or a taxi (about 1400/1500 yen) from Nagasaki station.
For the light sleepers, there is a road next to the hotel and the walls are thin.
If you like, the owner also has 2 kimono rental shops, one recently opened on Dejima island.
Overall, I can really recommend Kagamiya, if I would go to Nagasaki again, this will be my first choice.

My home in Nagasaki

It may be a bit difficult to find but the area is full of its local character and charm. The owners were helpful and went an extra mile to make us feel welcome. They spoke English and gave us good recommendations for dining anfd sighseeing options. The rooms are no frills but clean and you have anything you could possibly need. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality.

Local charm in Nagasaki

Me and my wife went to nagasaki for walk around the city, the place was very beatiful and very organized, that time was a snow season, im very excited to snow for the first time, the transport also very easy to find, if you have more money you can take a cab but if travel in buget there is also train to go anywhere around the town

Snow season

Located a few minutes walk from the Hotarujaya street car stop, this hostel is a quaint and economical option. 

The sleeping rooms are all upstairs, and while the rooms themselves have individual air conditioners which work well, the common areas (with the exception of the "living room") do not, so it can become quite warm at times (hot air rises). The bedding is surprisingly comfortable for what appears to be a thin, foam mat on the floor. But definitely bring your own pillow, if possible, as those provided are small and of the corn/barley (or something else) husk-filled variety. 

 Toilets (two up, one down) are well kept and there's only one shower for all nine potential guests, so get used to sharing. 

There is no breakfast, but toast is free until 10 am, and coffee and tea is available all day long in the living room. Additionally, there's a microwave and small refrigerator to utilize for whatever needs you may have.

The owners wife (Yukari?) is a delight; she's engaging and quite interested in the stories her guests have to tell. Additionally, she keeps a fantastic kimono selection on-site.

One of the few negatives is that the house is located literally next to one of the main thoroughfares in town, which accommodates large quantities of traffic and is therefore noisy at all hours.

Would I stay again: I would consider it, weighed against similar options at the same price point (my friend and I paid approximately 16,000 Yen combined (about $160) for three nights).

Happy Hostel 

We spent three nights here. The room we stayed in was roomy enough for the three of us. We had air conditioning which was nice after hot days walking around Nagasaki. The futon was a little thin. The shower/bath is under the stairs to it's a little awkward in the changing room with the low, slanting ceiling. The public areas are convenient for looking into sites to visit. The tea or coffee and  toast was nice bonus (for the inexpensive price). The front desk staff were kind and helpful. Oh, staying here you get a discount coupon for many popular tourist sites. The tram (trolley) is only a five minute walk away. Oh, I should add that my wife and I do speak Japanese so its hard to know how much English the workers speak; We mostly spoke in Japanese.
