The owner at this guesthouse is SO lovely. She really made our stay special. She offered so many helpful suggestions and made sure she helped us plan our short time in Nikko. She really made us feel like we were staying at her house and made our short trip to Nikko brilliant. Thank you for a lovely stay!!! 

Brilliant lovely host

We were given a very warm welcome and lots of helpful advice for exploring the local area upon arrival. It’s a cosy guesthouse, great value for money. Location is perfect, two minutes from Nikko JR station (or three minutes from Nikko Tobu station). The futons in the bedroom were very comfortable and we slept like babies! Highly recommend.

Cosy room, friendly staff.

Located across from the train and bus stations and only a 20 minute walk from the World Heritage Site up the main road, this lovely little place is clean, comfortable and convenient. My son and I stayed in a traditional tatami room, which was great, and the shared bathroom and shower were no problem at all and very clean. The staff are a delight, speak English well, and are extremely sweet and helpful.

Charming little hotel with wonderful staff!

Near the  bus terminal and the train stations. Staff were really nice and friendly. Shared toilets and shower was less comfortable. Towels were not clean. Room smelled of fish soup, so we had to open the windows to air it, even though it was raining and a bit cold. All in all, good for one night.

Good location, friendly staff

I got into Nikko early. I emailed ahead and they were happy. To let me leave my stuff. I was so glad I met this host. She absolutely *made* my whole trip to Nikko brilliant. She gave me fantastic pointers on things to see - things I didn't even know about. It's still the best single overnight trip I made in three months of travelling around the South Pacific area-ish and North America.
The place is really clean and has everything you need. My only problem was that two guests checked in really, really late and shuffled around the room for an hour whispering and moving their stuff. That was a bit disruptive for me and the other guest who was already in the room too.

Great spot and the loveliest host

The guest house is family run and you can tell they take pride in their home. It was a holiday weekend and busy in Nikko so I’m especially glad I was able to get a bed at Sumica. I stayed in a dorm and the bed was comfortable and room spotless. It was a shared bathroom which was also kept very clean. There was a common area and they held my pack while I went exploring for the day. It is VERY close to both train stations and super convenient. I would stay there again for sure. 

Love this little guesthouse

I travelled alone to Nikko and Stayed here in January.
The staff and owners are great super friendly and very helpful. They helped me plan my two days and explained what to do and how to get around. 
The guesthouse itself was quite old, but the beds were comfortable and they gave me extra blankets as they didn’t have ac just a small heater.
They had a small kitchen which I could use and they had free tea. 
In general it’s a good small budget place. 

Lovely and cute 

I had a nice stay at this place, you can’t beat the location - 1 minute from both Tobu-Nikko and Nikko stations and close to the Nikko Station Hotel Classic - you can use their onsen for ¥700. The WiFi was good and the staff were all adorable - warm, friendly, eager to make your stay enjoyable, and they speak good English! The guesthouse is clean and cosy, and the bed was comfortable with good bedding and a nice thick duvet as well as a heater.

I only stayed for one night as I live in Tokyo and had come up to Nikko for a weekend getaway. The guesthouse is a converted Japanese house, and is very, very small and quite noisy (I was in a 3 bed dorm where only one person could move around at any one time, and you can hear every sliding door everywhere in the building). Because of this, it would not suit everyone’s taste, and it is quite expensive for what you get. There is one toilet and shower for the building, and a tiny common area in Reception.

All in all, I had a lovely experience. Thank you guys!
