This was my second stay at this place, always felt like home, friendly staff, well maintenance facilities, free shuttle to ski resorts, daily onsen tour.
Its located in Niseko Annupuri area. Much quiet and relax place than Hirafu.
Always appreciate their friendly and essential effort such as pick up, drop off, discounts, and healthy meal. Had fun time with returning travelers and staff!

Felt like second home

We stayed for 3 nights at Karimpani with 3 adults and 1 child in their 4 bunk room. From check in the owner Max made us all feel like part of his family. He was very accommodating with any requests and worked around his busy schedule to please.

We opted for dinner on the first night and once finished decided to book dinner and breakfast for the remainder of our stay. The food was prepared by a Japanese chef and was of a very high standard of which you would expect at nice Japanese restaurant. Dinner came with entree, mains and desert and was changed each night. The chef even asked what food we liked and prepared sashimi for us on one night.

We had a hire car but if you are spending most your day Skiing this is not required as they run a shuttle to the ski areas, it was convenient though.

We would love to visit Niseko again and would most definitely stay with Max and his crew again.

Comfortable and friendly

Our group of three stayed at the Karimpani from 7 to 18 March 2019.  It was an excellent base for skiing at Niseko and Rusutsu.  We were not tied to one ski field - a driver from the Karimpani took us to a Niseko ski field each day at no extra cost.  This worked out much more economical than getting an all-mountain pass for Niseko and allowed us to decide the night before which field to go to on the basis of snow and weather conditions.  They have specific drop off and pick up times, but are very accommodating if a group wants to go to a particular field at a certain time. 
We were also taken to and from the bus for Rusutsu skifield and the train on arrival and departure.  There is the option to go to an onsen each evening for a small charge.  
The accommodation was basic, but clean and comfortable.  We had a four bed room to ourselves the whole time.  We opted to have breakfast and dinner each day and the food was excellent.  We were served a variety of Japanese food and our vegetarian diet was easily accommodated.  There are a couple of small grocery shops in the area but you need to drive to them, and there are no restaurants nearby.  After a full day on the slopes we were happy to eat at our accommodation.  
Max speaks perfect English and was very helpful in making arrangements for our skiing needs, both before our arrival and during our stay.  The ski rental company he recommended brought the gear to the hostel and were great to deal with. 
We thoroughly recommend Fujiyama Karimpani as a low cost base for skiing at Niseko.

Great base for spring skiing

We stayed there for 3 nights to ski in Niseko. We paid for our own room (Japanese « bed ») which has a heater for winter. The bathroom and toilets are shared, it was clean and there were always flip-flop to use (shoes stay in the entry to dry). For the ski clothes, you can dry them in a special room or bring them in your room. If needed, washing machines are available for a cheap price.
We tried the breakfast and dinner there and it was really delicious (with vegan/vegetarian option available). 
The staff was really nice and someone came to pick us up at the Niseko train station. To come back, we had a very early train at 6:40am and Max, the owner, helped us to go at the station by car in the morning.
Yes, the house is far from the ski stations (from 10min by car to Manipuri, Hilton and a bit more for Hifaru) but they offer free ride at 8:30, 9 and 9:30 am, then free return in the end of afternoon 4 to 5:20pm) and if you do a night ski (like we did) you can tell Max in advance to have a free ride back home around. The owner really tries his best to arrange everything so it was perfect for us! We recommend the place!

Very good hostel

Great hostel run very efficiently by Max. He has great English and is very welcoming. We had a whole 6 bed dorm for our family of 4 which gave us great space. You are able to order breakfast and dinner which is all cooked by Max. Laundry available too. Would certainly recommend but would probably need a car to make the area accessible. Very friendly place. 


Great place and environment 

I was slightly worried about the shared toilet, however after staying I felt very satisfied with the service and environment.

1. We stayed in Tatami room, basic facilities are equipped, heater, shower/ bathroom, dry room, washing and drying machine

2. Three shuttle bus timeslot to ski area per day

3. Nice arrangement to Onsen area

4. Gas heater available for self cooking

5. Discounted ski-pass and ski equipment rental

6. Toilet and bathroom are totally clean!

7. Good price.

8. Staff can speak fluent English and Japanese 

I enjoyed the stay and will recommend this hostel to friend! I wish I will go again and stay there.



Nice ski/snowboard and experience

It was my first time to stay this hostel.Everything was amazing, I just spent great time entire my vacation. The owner and staff were very helpful, friendly. The breakfast and dinner were just great, enjoy fresh Hokkaido food every day. The pick up and drop off to the local station, ski resort also helped us, very convenient. Onsen trips were also fun and great experience. I attend the tour  almost every night. 
 This is the youth hosel, and I didn't expect first class resort hotel. It was not close to local restaurant, bar, etc, but i just didn't need to go out after ski. The meal was just right, and enough to eat, you can't expect full Japanese course menu. I had great time with other guests, and staff. Definitely will be back in the future!

Absolutely wonderful!

Pros: cheap and food served is very good. the host Max was also very accommodating especially when I had a ski accident. He helped me whilst I was sorting myself sorting with my insurance paperwork and even picked me up from the ski resort after the incident. the place is an old school with good hot shower. they take you to onsen which is very good, especially Iroha. the hostel is clean and tidy and great place to meet other people including local japanese visiting niseko. i had a great time meeting one during my stay. pick up and drop off from ski resorts is really great value considering it is in the outskirt.
Cons: the place is really cold and not properly sealed doors/windows in my opinion. hence the heaters have timings, a bit inconvenient and not cosy to stay at times.
but overall a good stay.
