Altitude Nozawa was an INCREDIBLE experience. We loved the accomodations, the staff, the breakfast, the shuttle town, and the walking distance to ski rentals and a chair lift. 

Additionally, we left a very meaningful personal item at the hotel. The staff was so incredibly kind to find the missing item and mail it to us. It meant the world to us that they went to so much trouble.

Incredible Place to Stay!

Excellent place to stay in Nozawa.
Staff were English speaking and pointed us in the right direction being first time Skiing.
The accommodation was clean and the lodge had a great friendly vibe.
Nozawa is also a very quaint town and not too commercial.

Great spot to stay

Small group of 8, 4th time to Nozawa onsen. We wanted a lodge with a bit more comfort than previous trips and Altitude lodge was perfect. Awesome staff who could organise anything for you and nothing was a problem.
A little bit further out of town but only a 15 minute walk and there is a free shuttle van to town and a free bus up to the slopes.
Good hearty breakfast and lots of space for socialising in the evenings....we will be back in 2021.

Great lodge

We had 5 nights here in February.
The hotel is very comfortable, modern and clean, breakfast is provided each day (croissants, cereal, toast and fruit and a different hot dish each day, ie. bacon and egg muffin).  Tea and coffee (and a cold drink including alcohol machine) is available any time within the lounge/dining area.  
Dinner can be purchased at Altitude, however the menu is limited and is not available every night (so check when you arrive).
Altitude run shuttles to the main lift every 15 minutes in the morning (until 8:30) or there are public shuttles that run all day.  Alternatively you can walk to the Karasawa lift, which is about 250 meters away. You can also ski back to Altitude’s door at the end of the day, snow permitting. 
At night Altitude run hourly shuttles to and from the village, or it is about a 10 minute walk to the Village Centre.
The Village has 2 ATM’s one at the Post Office and one just opposite the Chuo terminal, so you can access cash without too much bother. 
The team will also transfer you to/from the Chuo terminal whenever you require for arrival/check-out.
Altitude has 1 washing machine (free) and a dryer - the dryer is a little slow, but get’s the job done if you have the time.
Apple TV and Netflix is available and the WiFi was great.  A drying room is also conveniently located at the main entrance, so you don’t need to carry gear around.
The staff were fantastic and able to assist with any queries. It’s a predominantly Aussie crew, so English is not a problem. 
All in all, the pro’s outweigh the fact that Altitude is located slightly outside the main Village hub, highly recommend it and would stay here again.  

Western Hotel located just out of the Village

Lovely staff & great accommodation, it's a 15-20 min walk to the main 'village' area and a couple of mins by a free bus (every 20 mins or so) to the Gondola. You can walk up to the first chairlift if you don't want to wait for the bus.

Great space, just a little out of the way

It’s not close to village , but they offer pick up/ drop off to gondola station/ village. 
The hotel is very westernised and have Netflix in the room which is definitely a Plus.
The staff over there were super nice and helpful. 
I also love the 24 hours beverage corner.
They also have a dry room for the gear.
The only downside is we found few bugs in our room. 

Western style homie hotel

I would highly recommend this hotel. It reminded me of a hotel in one of the European Ski resorts.

We stayed in a room with a double and single bed. The room was perfect for our family (2 adults and 1 young kid). The room had Apple TV so it was nice to kickback and watch a film with the family after a long day on the slopes.

The breakfast menu changed each day and set us all up for the day.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and would drive us to the ski area each morning and then to the main bar and restaurant area at night. 


Great Hotel

Had the pleasure of spending 5 nights at Altitude Nozawa and found it to be great snow accommodation. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the room exceeded our expectations - spacious, walk in shower, built in usb ports for charging, in room pod coffee, and Netflix. Highly recommended and I would definitely stay there again. Hotel also has a washing machine and dryer - fantastic when you're away from home for a couple of weeks.

What a great place to stay!

We were so well looked after by all the staff at Altitudes. They went out of there way to be helpful every day. Altitudes is warm, clean and family friendly. Breakfasts are excellent. All worked very well. Highly recommend it and would definitely stay here again if we return to Nozawa Onsen.

awesome attitudes at Altitudes

We loved our stay at Altitude Nozawa. We relished in our western style room with private bathroom (not common across Nozawa). The room was spacious, clean and plenty of hanging space. The drying room was very large and sufficient to hold all our snowboarding gear. There was both English and Japanese speaking staff. All were very friendly and made an effort to get to know there guests which we enjoyed. Altitude is a small walk to the main road in town but we didn't mind the stroll through the quant streets of Nozawa on our way to dinner. On a few ocassions we time our departure with the free hotel shuttle bus, which leaves every hour.  We highly recommend Miyamori which is he closest restaurant to Altitude. Our dinner was superb and we often had the restaurant to ourselves. Dinner cooked by a Japanese Nonna, her daughter and granddaughter - soo nice :) We found Altitude very well situated to the Karawasa chair lift. Only a few minutes up hill and then you can start your day. We preferred being close to a chair lift (when lugging all snowboarding gear) rather than the Centre of town where all the restaurants are. If you were to stay closer in town you have a long walk up hill to the chair lifts. 

Our only criticism (only small) was the cooked breakfast. It would appear that the general staff prepare breakfast every morning (instead of a chef/qualified cook), which meant the quality was variable and overall white average. We stuck to cereal, toast and toasted croissants in the end that we could cook ourselves. This being said, there was plenty of coffee (help yourself) and fruit. There is also an onsite bar and staff welcomed us taking drinks up to our rooms for extra comfort and privacy. 

Overall, Altitude exceeded our expectations for a middle of the range hotel. We will definitely be staying here again next time!
