Our hosts were very considerate and obliging. They were able to assist us with ski tickets. The premises were warm. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfeasts were generous, tasty and hearty. The carpet was a bit spotty but the rooms were very clean. There was a bath and always lots of hot water.

Come in from the cold!

A cosy and friendly place to stay! Gasthof Schi Heil is right in the centre of town and a close walk to convenience stores, restaurants, cafes and the base of the mountain. The staff are also very friendly and accommodating and assisted us with making reservations and booking tours. Would highly recommend!

A great place to stay

We stayed 9 nights end of feb- 9th March. The staff (Mammy spoke the most English) were so lovely, friendly and very happy. The hotel was quite dated. It was actually the hotel for the Olympic teams in 1998. Carpets quite stained and I don’t think the doona covers get changed- just a sheet. Generally everywhere was clean and tidy but just very dated/ stains. Breakfast was nice, quite small but they changed it everyday and 3 variations rotated. The ladies that served it are lovely and very accommodating (my partner is vegetarian). There is a stock of towels to use when visiting the local onsens and tea available which was a nice touch. Bathrooms had shampoo, body wash and conditioner but no hand soap. Rooms were cleaned and tidied every day with fresh towels and bath mat. I asked for clean pillow cases too which they changed a few times. There is a store room that is heated to dry out gloves, hats, boots and leave your skis/board. We had room 303 which had views from both windows to the mountains which was beautiful. Rooms have heated air con which was nice. I think if we came back to Nozawa we would look for accomodation with a little more atmosphere and maybe a lounge room as we spent a lot of time just in the room relaxing as no where else to go. Tvs in the room only have a few local channels. Stairs are fine if you are fit, yes it burns the legs a bit after a day of skiing but it’s fine. A 10min uphill walk to the Yu road (moving walkway) that takes you to the Hikage gondola. Or you can walk 30m to the bus terminal that takes you to the Nagasaka gondola (about a 10min bus ride) or a 20min walk up through the town. Most places to hire stuff from up by the gondolas let you keep it there overnight anyway to save you carrying it up and down. 

Lovely staff, quite basic but enough

I had about ten days at this lovely little guesthouse  - very close to the central bus station for the free shuttle bus to Nagasaka Gondola and the bus to Iiyama railway station.  Breakfasts were adequate and the room very comfortable with a view over the ski fields.  Several onsens are within a few minutes' walk.  Recommended

Friendly little place in good location

What made this accommodation perfect..? Everything. Friendliness, comfort, breakfast, location. My kids and I will definitely come back. Yes there's stairs.. yes there's no heated toilet seat.. but really! if you're going snowboarding/ skiing in Japan.. appreciate that.. go somewhere else for a warm butt if that's what you really want..

Just perfect

Great centrally located accomodation. Close to the Main Street, restaurants and Onsen. Spacious and simple western style rooms that are comfortable. Sensationally helpful and happy staff. Staff will look after your restaurant bookings and any other need. Great breakfasts every morning.

Sensational Value and Welcoming Family Business

Getting to the rooms means a steep climb and the staff are mostly ladies who can’t help you much in carrying your luggage even though they offer to do so. The rooms are very basic and can be made more comfortable and a tad cleaner too. In the coldest destination of our holiday in japan this winter, we were disappointed that the toilet seats were not heated like all the other hotels. The staff were nice but this hotel is too basic to make it recommendable. 

Cozy , but..

Our family of 5 stayed in two rooms at Nozawa Onsen. This is a small family-run hotel in a fabulous location. It's very central to everything you'll need. The rooms are basic but you won't be in them much anyway. They have everything you need and the beds are very comfortable.  It's the staff that really make the hotel. They couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. They gave us advice on restaurants and bookings and were always happy to answer all our questions. When me eldest son lost his lift ticket they went to great lengths to help us out. Thank you.

Great location

We stayed here when skiing in Nozawa, the rooms where nice and spacious and the bathrooms great the breakfast is lovely and the location is amazing! Just a short walk to the moving walkway.  The checkout staff where wonderful and where always happy to give suggestions and are happy to make any reservations you want.  Can’t wait to come back again!!!

Great location, Friendly staff

Our family of four spent four nights at Gasthof Schi Heil in January of 2017.  

The hotel is perfectly situated in the town. It is  lovely and close to all of the amenities of Nozowaonsen.

The staff are an absolute delight and you feel very welcomed every time you come.   The hotel has a lovely homey atmosphere.
