We booked this hotel a couple of months and chose a bigger room w/half board 
Room was super spacious and a view to die for. Dinner is set and dishes were excellent, drinks can be on the expensive, nevertheless we pick a Heda port special hot sake 1000 yen to share. Onsen was good and advisable to drive to hotel as there isn’t anything open nearby, so dinner included is strongly advised. Whisky is free at the lobby, wifi only available at lobby and nowhere else, which we find it weird. Overall a pleasant stay, good service all around from the hotel staff, hotel is situated off the beaten track and long and winding road to reach it. Have fun and enjoy your stay in Izu Peninsula 


Seaside hotel 5*

If you are looking for a spa, this bath is probably not what you expect. It is a japanese bath house. We absolutely loved the authentic feeling. The japanese style rooms where you could sit and sleep on the floor. The aspect that they didn’t speak almost any English, but were trying to make us enjoy for example the dinners as well as they could. A big smile and great attitude goes a long way.

Can’t remember the last time I felt so relaxed than after visiting this great Onsen. The dinners were totally amazing and offered treats at a fine dining level. We had a bath in our room, which was small but good for two people. You could also reserv the roof bath for only 1k¥. On a clear day I would choose the Fuji bath. There was also a public bath which came with very specific bathing instructions.

The place is not very easy to access. Train, local bus first and then they picked us up in Heda. Also fun to see a smaller fishing town, which was of course very different from Kyoto, Tokyo etc. They have an English website explaining how to get there, but it is not that easy to find googling.

The two night visit here was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. Highly recommended, but probably not for everyone. The awesome food and style of accomondation might not be to everyones liking, but that is a big part of the experience too. Loved it.

Amazing experience & great food

Overall experience of my stay was disappointing.

Beside from entrance and lobby, overall structure is old and tired.
Guestrooms:
The staff who showed us the room did not explain features and amenities. 
The private outdoor bath in our room faced the balconies of adjacent building of the ryokan. We found a switch where a shutter comes down to enclose so it was meaningless to have private outdoor bath. The water in the bathtub was cold. After a few minutes trying to figure how to warm the bath I found a switch inside a cabinet below the sink. After 10 minutes the bath was warm but not hot.
The outdoor bath was not onsen.
Food & Beverage:
The restaurant looked like they patched partitions in a banqueting room and lacked ambiance.
The music for breakfast and dinner was trumpet jazz music. Did not match the ambiance and the food.
The food may have impressed novice travellers to Japan. As a seasoned traveller residing in Japan, I was not impressed.
Onsen:
The public onsen was small.
The indoor onsen was full of steam (lacked ventilation) and I could not see 3 meters away.
The outdoor onsen was enclosed with glass with opening on top and bottom. The glass window was dirty. There was view of the ocean but clear view of main ryokan buidling was eyesore.
The onsen was very hot.
Overall:
I felt the ryokan was over priced. The overall customer service and care was lacking in all areas. The access to Nishi Izu is not good so as a customer, I felt disappointed to travel this distance from Tokyo expecting a nice relaxing onsen trip with good japanese dining.

Disappointed

We had booked in here for a relaxing stop over on our recent 5 week car trip in Japan. 

For a medium sized Onsen this is well appointed and comfortable. 

There were not many guests when we stayed and we generally had the baths to ourselves. 

Staff were very polite and helpful. 

The room was comfortable and the private bath was a treat. 

Lovely peaceful area. Give yourself time to visit the nearby town and walk along the coast road. 

The road here is very twisting and turning allow your self plenty of time to get here. 

Relaxing one night stay

A bit far from the village and limited number of restaurant if you arrive a bit late. But the few seafood restaurant are simple and cheap for great quality!

Beautiful sea view from the room, easy access to the beach and amazing view on the bay and Fuji when the weather is clear. Great onsen on the rooftop. 
Helpful staff, can speak english and chinese.
We were also lucky to have a local festical on the beach that weekend, lots of people, local products, great experience
Overall very relaxing stay! Will definitely come again.
Ideal when traveling with a car.
