We needed a place to stay at the end of our alpine route and we wanted to experience ryokan style hotel so we opted for Hotel Yumenoyu. There 5 of us and 1 toddler, the room given to us was in the 2nd floor, it was quite spacious for us. It seems like 2 rooms were combined into one, as there is 2 bathroom and 2 doors.  We opted for the half board option. We had sukiyaki set meal for dinner and Japanese style breakfast set. The foods were excellent and the service was very accommodating. The lady in the front office was very nice despite her limited english. 

We had a good soak in the onsen at night and in the morning. There were not many people in the hotel, so we got the whole onsen for ourselves both times! There is a shuttle bus from the bus station to the hotel or you can walk about 9 minutes to the hotel and the walk is quite a pretty sight. To get the shuttle bus, just visit the information desk across the road of the station and they will call the hotel for you! If you have time walk around to explore the area. There was a gyoza shop at the end of the road that was quite yummy.

Overall, we had such a good time here and I really recommend this hotel if you ever in the area.

Best Ryokan exprience!

Three of us (2 adults and 1 child) took a tatami room on the 3rd floor.  The room was quite spacious with its own bathroom and toilet.  Overlooking some rice paddies, the view from the room is quite nice.  The food for the Japanese breakfast and dinner was good.  The onsen was nice except the outdoor onsen has to be fenced in to prevent intrusion by monkeys!  

The front desk was manned - I suspect - by the lady owner.  She was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the Omachi and surrounding areas.  This hotel is in the onsen village so there isn't much around.  You will need a car to get around or charter a taxi for a few hours to tour, which was not too expensive.

The more entertaining aspect of this hotel is that the owner (and head chef) will take requests and sing at 8pm every night.  He's not a bad singer either!

Wifi is available only in the lobby.

Good onsen hotel with great service

It was a nice clean traditional Japanese hotel and the tatami bedroom overlooked the beautiful mountains.
The food was simply delicious, not too salty or sweet... simple and yet yummy. 
The owners were a nice couple. The wife manages the reception while the husband is the chef and singer at night.  We had a ball of a good time, singing along and dancing.  We were English speaking, so Mr Nakamura sang all the english songs for us. 
There is also a Karaoke room which we sang the night away.
We spend the evening before dinner in the onsen and also the morning before departure.
Take a taxi from the railway station.
