This Japanese style resort claims to have the "western-most sunsets in Japan" and we have to agree they were lovely.  The hotel property is perched on the Sea of Japan, and there is NOTHING nearby besides scenery.  No restaurants, bar, etc.  

BE FOREWARNED:  YOU MUST RESERVE DINNER 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OR YOU GET NOTHING !!!!  We arrived late afternoon on our first night's stay and were told there were no options for us to eat except order a taxi into town or buy snacks from the on-site gift shop or vending machine. Thankfully the vending machine had cold beer and bags of bar snack.

Otherwise the staff were wonderful; some English and very accommodating. The room was lovely. You got to pick your own yukata/kimono (in the lobby area) for wearing to the public onsen or to dinner if you like.  

The onsen was nice, but we could have used a bit of instruction on how to best use this public mineral hot springs bathing facility.  The room also came with a private shower and tub. 

Breakfasts were traditional Japanese (lots small dishes of various foods); dinners (if reserved 24-hours prior) were also traditional Japanese. Everything was quite delicious, but just TOO much food.  And it's rude to leave anything, so we tried hard to finish it all.

Great resort to get a fully immersive Japanese experience.  All guests are treated like royalty.  Would recommend IF you have your own car or can work with Japanese-speaking taxi drivers.



Not near anything, but great sunset views

This hotel was so pretty and so peaceful that it was a nice place to stay at while on the island.  Our room was super spacious but had an interesting layout.  The toilet (water closet) was separate from the tub/shower which was also separate from the sink.  The beds were in the middle.  We needed some time to get used to the layout but quickly adapted.  With all the space we were able to spread out and really enjoy ourselves.  

Such a pretty and peaceful hotel

The hotel is located right on the ocean with a great view of the sunset. There was a spacious hot spring to relax in and the food for breakfast was great. The room was spacious as well. The staff was very friendly.

Nice views and good Japanese food

We had an excellent stay here. The rooms were spacious and clean, with always a little snack left for us to try each day. The hotel is located on top of a quiet hill with superb views. The views are great from the rooms as well as from the hill where you can catch amazing sunsets. I also took a stroll down to the private beach area. Above all, I especially enjoyed the outdoor onsen overlooking the ocean. 

The breakfast had many delicious choices, though I wish there were a few more western choices too. We went to the "snack bar" karaoke on the last night where we enjoyed singing, playing ping pong, and having chats with the bartender.

Great stay, location, view and karaoke

I stayed there with my daughter and the staff was so pleasant. We were greeted in the lobby where they immediately sat us down on their couch and brought out refreshments while they explained local and hotel activities and schedules.  The bath (onsen) has lots of toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, skin peeling gel, moisturizer, etc...)  we tried everything that was offered.  The dinner and breakfast were lovely.  We made the mistake of going in the buffet line , but they redirected us and served us our pre-arranged meal. They didn't charge us for the buffet (they must have figured out we made a mistake). The seafood was amazing, but we were also impressed with their desserts, especially the soy-milk pudding. 

Beautiful View, Great Food, Lovely Bath

Stayed one night at the hotel with a view of the beautiful sunset. The booking includes a dinner and breakfast and we thoroughly enjoyed both meals. There are also indoor and outdoor onsens to enjoy. The outdoor private onsen is available for a nominal fee and overlooks the Sea of Japan. There is a wide range of yukatas to choose from for wearing during the stay. There is special live jazz show and local cultural dance in the evening. Highly recommended. 

Beautiful scenery, great service

Felt like a 5 star experience right from the moment I arrived. I was seated in the lobby and was served matcha and sweets. They had a lady who spoke fluent English explaining everything to me during the check-in process. The room they gave me was amazing with the ocean view and very spacious and had high quality Japanese facial products in the bathroom. 

I've requested for a special abalone dinner beforehand and so glad I did. It was so tender and delicious, though seeing it cooked in front of me was a tad cruel in hindsight. 

I also took advantage of the private outdoor onsen that you could book to use. I booked it quite late so there wasn't much of a view but I enjoyed the tranquility nonetheless

They also set up my bed while I was having dinner. The futon was so comfy and the onsen has helped me to relax so much, I had the best night sleep there. 

One other thing worth mentioning was that, they also offered to take us to see the light show at the old mine site nearby at night, I think it was only on during certain period. I've already been there during the day and have taken lots of photos. At night time with the colored lights on, it felt even more eerie ans surreal. I was thankful for the hospitality this hotel shown to their guests,

While some might find the location slightly remote, it was perfect for me as I don't like touristy crowded places and I was traveling the island by bus. They do offer pick up and drop off services from one of the nearby bus stops. You can either call them yourselves or ask the tourist info centre for help. 

Highly recommend to stay there if you are staying on the island. I'd love to go back there some day again!

Amazing

We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed the beautiful location of the hotel. The team was extremely welcoming and helpful. Rooms are spacious, with Japanese style (futon bed on tatami). A nice and peaceful retreat away from the flow of tourists.

Beautiful location, excellent team

I would rate this hotel 3.5, just above average, on the basis of the room comfort (quiet) and the desire to please shown by the staff. The hotel is situated away from the town and therefore you should finish your sightseeing and check in just before dinner (since the hotel is not a pleasure resort). The set course Japanese meals were ample and tasty. As there was only one other couple eating in the same big room as us, it felt a bit lonely. The hotel furnishings are getting tired but the place was clean and efficient. The onsen (bath) was comfortable if unspectacular. Parking is not under cover. I am not sure how much English is spoken but the staff were keen to help and I am sure that a little Japanese would go a long way.
