Location is good - a block away from Odori Park and about 4 blocks away from the Odori Subway stop.  15 minutes or so walk from JR Sapporo station via the underground walkway (look for the Subway station, which is where the walkway starts).  Susukino district very walkable - 5-10 min.  
OK, for tall people (I'm 6 ft tall) :
  Bathroom is small.  Low ceiling in the shower.  Toilet - Lobby toilet is a good solution.  Shower - the public bath is a good option.  
Japanese style room - Very japanese - ok but if you need more floor padding - there is another set of padding in the room's closet - just lay that over and it affords a little more for you.  
Breakfast is the only meal served.  Order in advance.
Washing machine is free w/ detergent.  Dryer is apartment style - weak.  Don't expect anthing but a small load to be done in 30 min. 
Mrs Nakatono speaks perfect English and will help you out as much as she can.  
I'd be back without question.

Good Choice (tall people tips)

Think this is a family-owned business - Decent no frills accommodation, had a comfortable stay here in the Japanese style room. Sad part is that the onsen opening times are limited so we could not get to use it because there is so much to explore around Sapporo that we never got back in time. Should extend the opening hours!

Decent cozy accommodation

First of all, this is a very welcoming place. The lady owner (member of the Nakatono family) runs the hotel and greets guests herself. Her English is impressive and she will make sure you have everything you need. She also cooks and serves breakfast, and we found that eating her breakfast in the morning gave us enough energy to run around Sapporo for most of the day with only a light snack for lunch. So, if you don't economize and go for the full Japanese version you are set for the day. 

We stayed for three nights in the Japanese style room and found it more than adequate. Sleeping on the floor on Japanese futons was comfortable, the feather dawn duvets were great, light and soft. To be honest, by the end of our day we had just about enough energy to crawl into our room and collapse on futons!

The location of the hotel is second to none. It is easy to find, with immediate access to the Odori park, but at the same time it sits a bit deeper into the block, so no busy noisy road under your windows. Additional extra was the 7/11 mart two steps away, good for ready meals (including hot meals) very cheap! when you are tired and the thought of going out for a meal fills you with horror, this is what the doctor ordered. 

Another big advantage is a free washing. Japanese washing machines are fantastic, very quick and very efficient. All you need to do is drop your washing, measure some powder (provided) and start. After about 40 min you stuff is done. You can use a dryer or just dry your smaller items in the bathroom overnight. 

The hotel also offers a communal bath for guests, which is like a small pool filled with hot water. I have to say we found it great after many hours of walking, you enter the area, take you clothes off, wash yourself thoroughly sitting at the small shower, and then submerge yourself in the hot water. Pure bliss! Please do not forget that you have to enter the bath fully naked and cleaned, otherwise it is the unforgivable rudeness to to other guests who may visit after you.   

Nakatono provides comfortable room yukatas for guests, and it is OK to walk in the hotel wearing it, but please do not wear it for breakfast. 

To sum up our stay at the hotel - we were extremely pleased. Please be aware this is not a Radisson or Hilton, this is a simple family run hotel that has been around since about 1930s, and it shows it's age in places. But this is a part of it's charm.

Great location and old world family run hotel. Value for money too

The hotel is very convenient, close to the metro station and a few steps from the centre and the main attractions. The owner, very kind and available, satisfies all curiosities and gives important indications on places and restaurants.
