We stayed here for about 1 week in October and we cannot recommend this place enough!! If you like chill vibes in a small sleepy snorkling/freediving town that’s walkable and one with nature, then this is your place <3

The rooms were super clean and comfy for us. Yes the bathroom and showers are shared but I don’t mind it. The cleanliness of this place puts any American and European cleaning to shame! 

The property is close to one beach that’s 2 min away and we snorkelled there every morning. You can also walk to 2 other beaches about 10 min away. 

The food they served was delicious! We are vegan (for the animals) and they cooked delicious vegan food. Some of the best vegan food we’ve had on our trip. 

I also had a medical accident and the owner’s wife called the doctor and came with us to the hospital (btw their healthcare also puts American healthcare to share). 

We are so grateful for their hospitality. All the staff were so nice and accommodating. We dream of returning to this place one day.

Comfortable. Clean. Cozy. Delicious plant based meals

False advertising. The hotel is overpriced. What you get for $200 you should get for $60. The owner and manager need a wake up call. There is no private bathroom. The bathtubs are outside in their "restaurant". It needs to be cleaned and refurbished. The rooms are right next to one another, too. For less price you can get significantly better just around the corner.

Then once you get there they try to sell you on their "blue suites" in another location for only $800 more. SMH. Stay away. 

No bueno

I just left aka after a two night stay-was supposed to be three nights but s typhoon delayed our trip from Tokyo.   You do have to walk 5 minutes from the ferry with your bags but we travel light so not a big deal.  The room was small with two beds and that’s about it.  There are two communal toilet and two shower rooms.  The place is small, I think 6 rooms so this was not a problem.   What made the place nice were the friendly staff.   Always smiling and trying to help you.  The ladies apologize for their English but we had no problem communicating.  The food prepared was excellent.  You eat on the patio all together at 6:20 pm for dinner and 7:30 for breakfast.  The food had a good variety and very fresh with hisae cooking right next to the patio.   We took the shuttle they provide to the beach twice and also took the little ferry to Zamami island 300 yen each way.  The islands are very quiet and are for people that want a relaxing beach holiday with no night life other than a couple tiny bars on the islands.  We loved our time on aka at the hanamura as this is what we were looking for.

We had an amazing stay at Hanamuro Inn. The host (Hisae) and her colleagues were very welcoming and took good care of us.
We also enjoyed Hisae's cooking. Dinner at this place is not to be missed!!

Plus an unlimited supply of beer was an added bonus ;)

Pleasant stay @  Aka

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 3 nights and we loved it! The room, the shower etc are very clean and the deck is super cozy during the evenings. The food that they serve is really something special, you can tell that the chefs loves to cook. We had our meals included and that meant a 6 course dinner every evening and never the same dish twice during our whole stay. We also bought their snorkeling tour, don't miss that! The spots that you will see is unbelievable.

Cozy Inn with great food

I have nothing bad to say about this inn. Lovely, small and basic but all you need to explore the amazing islands of Kerama.

The two women running the day-to-day are lovely and cook amazing food. Food (breakfast and dinner) is included in the price as there pretty much is no other place to eat. However the food served was amazing! Especially dinner!

You share showers and toilets with the other guest but this only lends to a great communal feeling. No towels are available so bring two!

The inn offers free shuttle to the nearby beach and in the evenings stargazing walks. Really great!

Aka-jima & the other islands are amazing and everyone should go! Only tip - we went in typhoon season meaning we had to leave early in order not to get stuck on the island. Staff were however great with helping us with information and rebooking our tickets.

Overall a great stay - for anyone considering - Go! You will not regret it!



Great little in with lovely staff & great food!

From the smiley welcome to the cheery goodbye, Hanamuro was a pleasure to visit. The staff could not have been more helpful, the bedroom was clean and air conditioned, the food was exquisite and the local beaches are gorgeous. 
We were on our honeymoon and Aka Jima couldn't have been more perfect. A quiet and secluded island, kept in great condition, where you can snorkel with turtles on a daily basis!
Not the place for party goers, but for those who like the peace and tranquility it is a must!

A little slice of paradise

We stayed at Hanamuro Inn for three nights in October 2016 and we had a great time! Rather small rooms, but everything is very clean, the employees are extremely friendly, the food is great and the service also. We were picked up from the ferry station and on a map, the employees explained us everything we needed to know (nicest beaches on the island, supermarkets, retaurants, international A ATM, diving school etc.). Three times a day, trey offered a car- ride to the nicest  beach on the island - although it would obly have been a 20-minute walk. So all in all, I cam definately recommend this guesthouse!!
