From the outside the building doesn't look like a hotel, but it says Itaiana 2, so you know you're in the right place.  The door is very small and on the side and again you might wonder.  Inside you meet your lovely, smiling hostess and she will show you to a lovely room that is huge by Japanese standards. The rooms have big windows on 3 sides, so lots of light, nicely decorated, your own sink and tea kettle.  I nice couch and table. Very bright and clean.  The wonderful owner had very good english skills and I was able to communicate everything I needed to her.  She drove me around and even to the rail station when it was time to go.  Spent two nights there!  The downstairs bathroom wasn't me favorite, but did enjoy the local outdoor "onsen" that's right on the beach, Highly recommend Pension Italiana!

Pleasant surprise

We stayed for just one night so we could spend a couple of days by the sea on our travels. The room was large and clean with two single beds, a TV, fridge, sofa, sink and aircon. Location is good about 5 minutes walk from the beach. When we arrived we were met by our absolutely wonderful host (can't speak her up enough) who welcomed us and showed us where everything was. She spoke almost no English but we both laughed off any communication issues and managed to discuss everything we needed too. She was incredibly helpful providing maps and directions, even driving us to the train station after we stayed at no charge. Very friendly indeed!

We will stay here if we are in Shirahama again and recommend it with two thumbs up!

Wonderful host, clean room, excellent experience

It's not that easy to find this guesthouse, so you better print a map. We asked the locals, the third person spoke English and described the whole road. The sea is 7 minutes away on foot, very nice and quiet. We had a room on the second floor, very large and light, with two separate beds. The hostess barely spoke English, but she was very responsive, we even managed to get her a flashlight (but you better take it with you). The only drawback is that the Japanese toilet is on the first floor. The shower on the first floor is also not very comfortable.

Home decor

The room that we stayed faces the sightseeing spot "ENGETSU ISLET".

Price is reasonable, very convenient location, just 5 min walk to bus stop.
Host is very nice and helpful.  We were surprised that the host drove me to the SANDANBEKI, this saved our time on transportation.  She also drove us to the JR station on the day we  left.  Thanks so much for her hospitality.

Room is clean.  Japanese toilets, and you have to go downstairs to toilets and shower.
