The place is fantastic, the view is beautiful. Its like being transported back in time. I love this place. The owners are so fantastic and friendly. The rooms is spacious and warm. I love the feel of this hotel. I will sure come back

One beautiful hotel authentic Japanese feel

Asagoya has one drawback and one drawback only, so you should know about it up front:  there are no toilets in the rooms. If you can get beyond that, you will find yourself in a wonderful, very Japanese, charming ryokan with super comfy futons, big rooms and a lovely host who serves some of the best coffee on the planet.  I feel very fortunate that we ended up here and was sad that they were already booked for the following night.

A great place to stay in Kinosaki

The  Asagoya Ryokan is described by a reviewer as 'basic' and for sure that is the case. However the reviewer was very impressed with the overall experience and gave it a high rating. I did the same. Micki (the English name of the person managing Asagoya) is a truly wonderful person, making coffee on request, attending to your needs, and then extending an invitation to go with him and see the Sea of Japan. This we did. He chose wonderful music that touched the spirit. The geography he took us into is magical. Micki is a man who gives of himself. What greater gift is there? The experience is authentic, we went to six Onsens over a three day period. We ate at the small restaurant he recommended (Simple environment, wonderful food and experience.) The location is perfect for Onsen and village access. We will be forever in your debt Micki. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

You get what you paid for and even much more! This is my very first review ever on trip advisor. And that's purely because this host is amazing (!!) and his ryokan is truly honest and easy. 
Very basic but all you need. Great location and spacious rooms. Fresh and fun coffee or tea on your arrival with a detailed explanation of how things work in this town. Walking about town in your morning/day gown and using the baths even in the morning (one just next door) is easy and relaxing.

The private tour by the ever so sweet and excited and helpful host the next morning is the cherry on the top. It's free of charge. He just really enjoys showing you the place he grew up in. 

Thumbs up for this one, if you can enjoy a simple accommodation with Charme and an excited yet very sweet and easy host!



Best value for money 

The host made us feel very welcome and the ryokan has a home feeling. The host goes above and beyond to make you have a great stay. He even took us with his car on a tour to see the sea and awesome caves.

One month in Japan and this was our favourite spot.
