We stayed in this hotel for one night while other friends were in a cheaper Ryokan, our was a tourist attraction, of course the room service team was perfect, but the manager is trying to get you, in the sense that she doesn't serve meals while it is the tradition in all other hotels, we asked not to have breakfast in the evening (so as not to eat fish on the break) and they always brought it to us. Once at the settlement she wanted to deduct it and pretended not to speak English for us to do so. After negotiation she realized that we were not tres pigeons.

Catching a tourist

I love Kinosaki and I enjoyed my stay at Shinonomesou. It was not my first choice, but I didn't regret it. 
The place was easy to find, on a side street of Kinosaki, very near to many of the public bath houses (just get a map from the tourist office). It's a 10min leisurely walk from the train station. I arrived a bit early and was not allowed to check in as they enforce the 2pm check in rigorously, which is fine. 
There is not much English spoken here, but the staff was patient and very helpful. 
My room was on the 2nd floor, quite large with big windows and fresh tatami. It has an alcove that houses a wash basin and a toilet. The stay comes with a set of kimono, towels, free access to all of the public bath houses in town during your stay.
I didn't reserve meal with my room, but decided to add it during my stay, and it was generously obliged. I ordered breakfast and dinner to be included. You must specify the time you want them served, and you had better be ready at that time. They are THAT prompt! Both meals were generous. Dinner was superb with a serving of a WHOLE snow crab. I think they are good value.
If you tell them in advance of your departure time, they will arrange for a free transport to the train station. Just don't do it at the last minute.

For some reason I can't connect to the wifi in the room even when my device told me  the signal was strong.

All in all, a very good stay at a nice hotel. Totally worth it!

Wonderful ryokan at reasonable price

Surely great Ryokan with superb service, they allow us to check in early and although none of them speak good English, they still make their effort to use a translator apps to communicate with us. Located within walking distance from train station, and although the ryokan located at one of the small road (not the main road), it's only take one turn to go to main road. With the price they offer compared to other more expensive ryokan in town. This is much worthed. 
Great (in-room) Kiseki dinner that includes snow crab and breakfast (if you a fans of Japanese food). Although then town so small and you can walk around it in 1 day, staying for two nights will surely give you more time to enjoy the layback life of Kinosaki and more time to try out all 7 Public onsen in town.
This ryokan inhouse onsen is beautiful, we even prefer this inhouse onsen than some of the more crowded public onsen. 
Be careful that they will switch the bath at certain timing to enable all guest (men and women) to experience both inhoude bath they has.
The tatami room was spacious, more than enough to accommodate 4 of us, with two table still inside and a massage chair.
The ryokan will provide the guests with onsen pass to explore all 7 public onsen for free (just scan your pass), your yukata, and geta (Japanese wooden sandals). Plenty of umbrella available during rainy days as well.
just some info that the internet connection was poor (or did not even exist) during our stay. So if you need internet connection, you might need to go downstairs, town centre, or my favourite Gabi Gabu cafe that serve they inhouse beer with good wifi connection.
We enjoy our stay there very much.

We wish we stay longer

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shinonomeso in the town of Kinosaki and our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer than two days. There are a half dozen indoor and outdoor hot springs with very clean facilities, a beautiful stretch of cherry trees (in April) or willows (spring through autumn), rope way / funicular ride and a basalt cave in nearby Toyooka.

The dinner, breakfast and day pass to all of the Onsen plus loan of yukatas, towels, sandals and carryall baskets is included in the cost of your overnight stay. What a deal! It's money well spent especially since the food is good (excellent egg custard and fluffy tofu, flavorful crab even if it's slightly overcooked). 

The staff at Shinonomeso ryokan were pleasant and attentive to our family of five, providing us with fresh yukatas after two of us accidentally dipped our sleeves in bowls of soy sauce (novices that we are).

Not much English is spoken here (but locals were exceedingly helpful pointing the way) and there's a free shuttle from the train (which I ignored much to the annoyance of my family). 

NOTE : observe the slipper boundaries (they are sensible) and expect dinner and breakfast to start promptly. The curfew might be more rigid than you prefer but we'd been packing our schedule and needed the downtime. 

Several more things to note : The indoor, hot bath at the hotel is pleasant and open late. Onsen water is hot (42C) so children will prefer soaking outdoors. There aren't any coed baths to my knowledge. In case you were wondering, you don't need to remove all the hair from your nether regions and nobody stares at you. Tattoos are acceptable (not always the case).

Pleasant crab dinner, comfy mattresses and access to onsen 

I've stayed in a number of Ryokan over the years, and enjoyed the pace and informality compared to more expensive places. It could be a bit cleaner here and there (by Japanese standards) but it was a good stay. We had a very nice (new) tatami/Japanese family room on the 1st floor which had a private bath. We ate in our room, and the crab dinner was simple and home cooked (well!). There is very limited english spoken here. Bring your phrase book :)

Good enough for a night!

For your traditional experience in a hot spring bath town, this is a great bet. You'll sleep on futon in a tatami room and feel free to wear a yukata. Good place to base your tour of the town's baths.
