The staff were amazing and the owner helps out with fairly good English, meals were pretty full on we had the dinner and breaky there. Food was an experience on its own - trying new things is good right? Go in open minded you will be fine, food taste awesome and looked very traditional ! 
Awesome area, the bus stop is right out front is super convenient and the lake is near by. The 7 eleven around the corner is nice and close to grab a quick bite as well. We were there in the snow and it looked beautiful around the area. The onsen or bath was also crazy cool - couples can enjoy it together on their own too ! 


Amazing experience 

Lovely traditional Ryokan, super convenient right next to the bus stop and lake, convenient stores.

It is a family run business and the hosts were very accommodating and friendly!

The rooms were spacious and very well heated/insulated.  Highly recommended.


Lovely Ryokan 

This Riyokan is a true gem. It’s located right next to the lake and the bus station! The accommodations are very clean, well appointed and extremely comfortable. The authentic food is outstanding, with a delicious breakfast spread that rivals 5 star hotels! 

The real hidden gems though, are the family members who put their heart and soul into running this humble yet amazing place, and treating all guests like family. The son and father of the family actually took time out of their busy schedule, to drive and show us around the area (unsolicitedly), and guided us with our trip in every way possible. Honestly, ईंट felt like we were visiting our Japanese family for vacation :)
Yet another example of true Japanese warmth and hospitality that we were fortunate enough to experience on what’s been a wonderful trip!

Unbelievable hosts and an amazing experience 

We were on our honeymoon with my wife and stayed for two nights at Teiensaryo. It was amazing. The hosts were so polite and helpful. We were driven around by car to good camera spots for Mt Fuji during daytime and to a nearby restaurant for dinner. When we left, it was raining and the owner gave me an umbrella which came really handy.

The breakfast was amazing as well. We didn't have the chance to try the dinner unfortunately, but I'm sure it is amazing as well. The room we had was big with a great view to the beautiful Japanese style garden which is in front of the house. The garden is beautiful with carps swimming about and a small waterfall burbling gently.

We can both wholeheartedly recommend this ryokan.

Great ryokan

A great budget ryokan in Yamanakako area. The small family who run the business with fully service mind. They are really helpful and try to provide you the best service as they can. Room is clean, but a bit tiny for 4 people. It's better to stay only 2 people per room. Food is amazing!! You can enjoy the quality food and taste like you are sitting on the authentic japanese restaurant. For those who drive a car to there, they provide you a free parking just in front of the hotel area.

Small family business with a Super great service

Teiensaryo yamanakako was our kids first experience at a ryokan, and we all had an amazing time. The food was delicious, hot spring was so relaxing, and room was comfortable. 

We loved the outdoor garden with the koi feeding which was so enjoyable! 

Thank you to the owner who drove us around lake yamanakako to the best views of Mt. Fuji that still had a bit of snow cap even in June. He is so kind and hospitable! Even though there was a language barrier, he and his wife were so savvy and used google translator to communicate with us! We would definitely like to return one day.

Best ryokan experience

Weather was bad but the Hirose family and their ryokan was wonderful!  
We stayed at Yamanakako for two nights at Teiensaryo was thoroughly impressed with the hospitality, rooms and wonderful food (Ryokan-style, multi-dish, breakfast and dinner were served).  Unfortunately for us, the weather was overcast (low clouds obstructing views) and, during one day, rainy.   But, 4 of us (wife, daughter, son-in-law) made the best of the stay by taking the local bus to Kawaguchiko city for bike riding around the lake, going via bus to Gotemba shopping mall and walking around the lake in the rain.  We did not, however, take our planned hikes in the hills and mountains around the lake.
  The Hirose family tried to make sure that we had things to do and made suggestions for lunch (Shouya, short bus ride along the lake, serving Houta), and suggestions for things to do.  Son, Koichi, even volunteered to take us via car to Mt. Fuji view site but we all decided not worth it given the cloudy conditions.  
   Food and furo were very good.  The level of detail in the food preparation led me to believe that Koichi had culinary training and when asked, "where you a chef?" answered, "yes".   The elder Hirose-san even made the effort to provide with local tangerines (mikan) and boiled eggs for our sojurns and snacking.
   Furo (two separate rooms), were open at 4pm and each room was lockable (can make private).  
   Ryokan appears to have only 5 rooms and, during our stay and 3 groups (rooms) occupied.
   Last but not least, our departure on a rainy Sunday morning was made very warm and friendly by Koichi's offer to drive us to the Express bus stop.  Though this stop was only about 5 minutes walk away, the rain would have made uncomfortable.  Mr. Hirose's drive was very much appreciated.
   We would/will stay again.

Would Stay Again -  Hirose Family Are Wonderful!

Japanese style hotel (ryokan). All very clean, very well taken care of. Very near Yamanakako lake, bus stop and local stores. Family-run, incredible staff, they were very careful with all things regarding our stay. Great hot bath, were you take shower and after soak in hot water, just be aware that it is not on the bedroom (only a toilet in bedroom). The dinner was absolutely amazing! Best meal I had in my trip to Japan, and best hotel. Excellent cost-benefit for a ryokan! Absolutely recommend and look forward to go back.
