recently spent a night at Asahikan. the room was a clean, very large typical room in a Japanese ryokan, tho this is more like a minshuku. Shared toilet and bath. Breakfast simple yet adequate. Reasonably priced. If you are used to this type of accommodation, its fine but if you are a westerner and unaccustomed to staying in someone's home, this is not for you. Friendly hosts.

The older lady who I think lives on the property was nothing short of amazing. She was so helpful welcoming graceful and used what English she had to communicate. The place is an awesome local cultural stay. Have a bath there its really nice especially on your own. Breakfast was superb. Room has everything you need.

Get there: Walk out of train station and take left, walk approx 3-5 min, you are there it has a beautiful outside :)

Amachi museum free bus is at the train station and leaves every 15 min so really easy to access :)

Also restaurant next to the Train station is worth it if you're looking for a dinner otherwise the owners of this place do dinner and I'd imagine it'd be delicious like their breaky!

Beautiful. Surprisingly filled with amenities. Must stay here especially if going to Amachi!

My room was a tatami room with a shared bathroom and as such was fairly average.  However, the owners were so friendly and so helpful it elevates an average stay to an exceptional one!  I stayed in Yasugi to visit the Adachi Museum.  The owner didn't want for me to wait on the free bus from that station so he drove me there (about 20 minutes drive) in his car!  When I went to the train station that evening to catch my train to Kanazawa it was cancelled due to a typhoon.  The owner appeared to "check" on me and drove to me to Yonago (a nearby, larger station) to catch a train to Kanazawa that night.  He literally saved the day.  I can't say enough about these owners.  Breakfast was traditional Japanese and interesting for an American, but it was made enjoyable by the presence of the owners.  I would definitely recommend this ryokan for a rustic, authentic, Japanese experience.
