Visited here for 2 nights. It is up to most Onsen Hotel standard in Japan but no surprise except one of the dinner where the main dishes is beef which is so great.

Room is huge, staff is nice, ocean view is great. The only thing that I can complain here is
1. Outdoor Onsen is very small. May fit 3 pax only with comfortable zone
2. No rest area for free milk or tea or small gold drink (except water) after onsen as most of other Onsen hotel

Rest of the service is great. 



Great Beef and good view

Well off the beaten tourist tracks of Japan, you get a bit concerned when arriving in the rather bland city of Yonago, but you soon forget that when you arrive at this hotel, located by the seafront i Kaike, with a beatiful view of the Japan sea and its sunset over Miho Bay. There is a long seafront walk in front of the hotel, and you can walk freely down to the breakwater-protected sandy beaches. 

When entering the hotel, which from the outside looks much like a drab tourist hotel from the 70-ies, you will be positively surprised. The interior is warm and welcoming, and nicely decorated. The hotel staff is very friendly and service-minded, and really cares about their guests. From your room, you will have a contemplative view of the Japan Sea. The room is spacious and in traditional ryokan style, and you sleep on tatami mats.

I read that some others claim that the onsen at this hotel is not top class, but it for sure served me perfectly well - especially being able to sit in the outdoors pool and feel the sea breeze caress your face.

Be sure to book with dinner included - it is superb! You will be served a sumptuous meal in your room, with a wide variety of Japanese dishes, highlighting fish and seafood.

All summed up: this place is definitely worth a detour!

Wonderful experience

Right after New Years my wife and I took a bus to Yanago Station, we weren't sure if we would get there because of the heavy snowfall while driving through the mountains. After arriving there we then rode a local bus 10 minute before getting of at a terminal near the hotel.  We called the hotel and they had a member of their staff pick us up from the terminal.  The staff there is extremely helpful and friendly.  The view from the lobby area faces the Japan Sea, with the snow falling it was just beautiful but quite cold.  Women are treated to a wide selection of beautiful yukata to wear, staff allow you to chose your yukata and matching obi.  After settling into our room staff arranged for our dinner to be served, a delicious crab dinner. Served right in our room the dinner was just fabulous, a large crab, with raw fish, a small piece of sliced steak, tsukemono, and a salad with hot dressing.  Next came a grilled half crab, crab tempura, and some raw crab. We were just stuffed at this point, then they brought in a hugh pot to cook crab yakiniku.  Words cannot do this dinner justice, you would just have to experience it yourself.  

After resting we enjoyed a soak in the hotel's onsen, it was not very crowded.  It wasn't the biggest bath, but it really was enjoyable.  There is a small outdoor area but that night it was a little to cold to enjoy.  The water was a little salty, it could be from the hotel being so close to the ocean.  

The next morning we enjoyed a big breakfast served in our room.  Fresh yogurt, fruit, egg, grilled fish, and miso soup.  I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, it's not the most expensive hotel, staff is extremely friendly and courteous.  Simply and enjoyable experience on my first trip to Tottori.

Winter Wonderland

We spent 16 days in Japan and stayed in 3 Onsen Hotel.  This one was not the most expensive one but it provided us with the best room, food and services.  Their hospitality is highly appreciated. To prepare for our stay, they even requested their english speaking staff to change her duty roaster in order to serve us.  The Japanese style room is very clean and tidy, furbish with LCD TV and well-decorated flowers.  You'll experience their meticulous care when you've stayed there.  The flower decoration, the Japanese teacups, the toilet amenties, etc. We went there to celebrate our anniversary.  The owner's daughter together with their staff came to our room to greet us and took a memorable picture for us as  a gift. When we left the hotel, they even arrange a car to drive us to the nearby bus station.  The owner and his daughter kept on waving their hands to say goodbye to us even when our car moved to the end of the street.  Their hospitality is highly appreciated! Regarding their onsen, it's just average.  But this can be compensated by the free use of their sister hotel's onsen which is a block behind.  The sistere hotel's onsen is much better.
