Our stay with Aruba Mara was excellent from beginning to end! We went camping with our own tents but we ate meals in their restaurant and also booked their guide and car for game drives.

The campsite is beautiful with some spots overlooking the Talek River. There are nice trees providing shade and the facilities are great. Flush toilets and hot water showers!

The food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff was extremely nice and helpful.  

The best part, however, were the game drives! Their guide Alfred was excellent! Super friendly and very motivated to give us an amazing experience. My husband and I have been to the Mara often, our two friends went for the first time and we were all equally amazed. We got to see many lions (even with cubs), cheetah and leopard! Alfred was always ten steps ahead of the other guides and cars and made sure we got the best viewing spots. It was truly a wonderful experience and we will surely come back. 

Wonderful experience

If you get the chance to go to Aruba Mara Camp& Safaris - grab it! Everything was perfekt organized from landing in Nairobi till leaving Kenia! A wunderful place to stay in the Mara! Perfekt gamedrives, very, very friendly people and great meals! 

Never seen so great Wildlife!

I was extremely disappointed by Aruba Mara Camp. It was recommended to me as a budget friendly campsite but the grounds tore up my tent floor and popped my sleeping pad, and I didn’t feel that the money I spent there was worth what I was given, particularly when it comes to food. I have some dietary restrictions which I emailed about in advance so that they could have vegetables available for me and I was reassured that I would be taken care of, but every meal was a struggle. They didn’t even have the game drives available that I booked in advance; it felt like I emailed Gertie to set everything up before my arrival, and then the staff on site was clueless. One morning they did not have coffee ready ahead of a drive that I booked through them. I would recommend staying elsewhere, as there were a number of other people staying there the same time as me who felt the service and quality of the place had declined to meet their expectations. The bill was very ad-hoc at the end, everyone being charged prices different from what they were told (or sent in a PDF) ahead of their stay.

Poor Service

Gerdi is an excellent hostess, very helpful and patient, fulfilling all our requests.
Rooms are great, shower with hot water. The restaurant is an unmissable attraction, one of the best foods I've ever tasted.

I recommend it to everyone!

Excellent hosting option!

Our tent camp was just perfect as our first stay upon leaving Nairobi and doing a game drive on the way to the Aruba camp 
Gerda, the owner was extremely friendly and welcoming, coming by to chat with us every night at the dinner tent
 the food was excellent and all of the staff was so friendly !
our tent overlooked the river and we had a nice outdoor shower with private enclosure including a large soaking tub!
I especially loved Gerda’s locally made and exquisite African statues that were placed in each room as well as in the dining tent!! 
Thanks again for making us feel so welcome!!!

Loved Aruba Mara Camp

Gerda will make it her mission to make you feel at home. And you will.  The tents are spacious, the mattresses are very comfortable, and all is very clean. The grounds are just lush, and well organized and the common areas are very inviting.  You will be able to really enjoy a HOT, did I say HOT, shower.  Gerda hits her hot water with firewood, unlike most hotels in the area, who work with solar panels.  Well, the shower is just tops.
The food was delicious, ample portions and wonderful bread and desserts. Gerda was also the only one that served Kenyan coffee, rather than instant Nestle. Kudos for that!
We enjoyed the hospitality and the service of the staff. You will enjoy the beautiful view on the river and the accommodation, do not hesitate to stay there! Can only recommend.
BTW -Gerda knows her wines - try her Rose, best I have ever had!

You don't want to miss this fantastic place!

Stayed here in July 2020.  The camp was not very busy but all the staff were excellent and helpful.  The comfort tents are really good.  Food was simple but very tasty.  Cant ask for anymore in the Mara.  Being by the river is super relaxing.

Simplicity at its best!

Excellent accommodation.
Good food. Don't get me started on the food-- three-course meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, even accommodating my vegetarian diet with fabulous options (some of the best vedge-friendly food I've had in years!). 
Very close to the gate.
The tents are well furnished and comfortable.
Really enjoyed my time!

Schönes Camp!

Amazing food, superb location and super friendly but tough Maasai to show you around.
At cold nights they even put a hot water bottle in your bed to keep you warm during the night. The staff is very friendl.

Nice camp!

We spent 2 nights in aruba mara camp on 10 and 11 october. 
Pros: 
The camp is very close to the masai mara.
The guide from the cAmp was very good - djambelik
The rooms (we had one large room with 1 double bed and 2 single beds for the 4 of us) were good and the bathroom was good.

Cons:
Way below expectations for this price range
The water was black so we had to wait for it all to be flushed out before having clear water at times
The food is really really average, below Average. I would rate this barely 2 stars for food. Not enough of it and poor quality (industrial cheap stuff)
No wifi available - we had to beg to have the manager availing her hotspot in the evening only and we has to follow her otherwise no connection

All in all, i would not recommend this stay as food, water and internet plays an important role for us in enjoying our stay.
