We stayed in the cottage. Beautiful surroundings and accommodation, nice atmosphere, free water and very friendly staff. Highly recommended!

We made a lot of use of dinner and the swimming pool. I also did a practice dive with Jatin overthere, also highly recommended.

I took my family to this Retreat to enjoy a bonding experience with them. My son is deathly afraid of dogs. The owner Serena let her aggressive dog loose in the site and it proceeded to attack my son. It had his leg in its mouth and my son was screaming very loudly. Serena knows her dog is aggressive but does not care for her clients so she lets it out knowing it has attacked others previously also. A visit to Shimoni police station to report the incident, showed that others had filed police reports on her animal and she still does not restrain it. I would hesitate to stay here unless you want to have this viscious animal attacking you and your family when you least expect it.

Be careful

I decided to move from diani to Shimoni in order to get away from the noise, beach vendors and be closer to the attractions. There’s lots to do here from caves. stand up paddle, snorkelling, diving, village visits, swim in the huge pool or simply just chill. Location is great as I didn’t have to travel hours from Diani or Mombasa to board the boat to kisite or wasini, didn’t get hustled by vendors. It was quiet. Food was great and I order in advance to ensure I had food when I wanted. It was right next to Pilli pipa which was great. 

Only few pointers 
1. Loads of mosquitoes so I sprayed huge dosages of repellent every evening 
2. Wifi is inconsistent but I used my 4g phone connection when the wifi was weak

Quiet stay, close to beach and nature

I STAYED  WITH MY FAMILY IN THE BOTTLE COTTAGE , SIMPLY WONDERFUL , YOU STAY VERY WELL AND 'BRAND NEW , WELCOME AND AVAILABILITY OF BOSS JACOB REALLY WONDERFUL,ECONOMICAL WITH TOP SERVICES, NICE POOL AND RESTAURANT, STARTING POINT FOR KISANE PARK AND WASINI REALLY TOP, WE ARRANGED WITH A BOAT ON SITE TO DO TWO DAYS IN THE PARK IN COMPLETE AUTONOMY WITHOUT CROWDS OF TOURISTS , RECOMMENDED 

AMAZING BOTTLE COTTAGE

Amazing place... So nice we stayed a day longer. Calm. Nice view. Great staff. Food was ok. Tents on the old side...we are here off season. Thus we were the only guests. The ocean facing tents are more expensive but bigger and have an extra mosquito net.

Great place

We stayed here for two nights to do a wasini trip. The accomodation is lovely, the tents are very tidy and spaceous, we had our dinner on a terrace overlooking the ocean with a beautiful view of the sunset. The owner Jacob and the chef Patric were exeptionally friendly and helped us with everything we needed, next to great service and tasty food. Thank you for a wonderful stay! :)

Wonderful place to enjoy wasini

Spent a lovely few days snorkeling and scuba diving. The stay at the camp was exactly what I needed. Booked the ‘green tent’ and fell asleep and woke up to the sound of birds, bush babies and it was such an immersive experience with nature. The view from the dining area is beautiful and I had a delightful experience snorkeling right in front of the property. Jacob and Patrick went out of their way to put together a special treat on my birthday which was really moving. I love this place for its location, friendly prices, because it’s clean and safe and mostly because of the friendliness of the staff.

Wasini Lookout is a beautiful serene jewel south of Diani Beach, My girlfriend and I spent 3 days at Wasini Lookout, The Whole idea was to spend a night at Either Wasini Island or Shimoni because of our Snorkeling excursion at Kisite Marine Park, We wanted to have a laid down experience and make the most out of the locality, Not the normal rushed tour bearing in mind the return journey from Diani beach, We looked up on Booking.com and Wasini Lookout came with some competitive rates, Checked up on Google Map and got their contacts, Calling Jacob was Easy and everything else fell into place, We checked in at the Eco-Camp after the morning Excursion snorkeling at the Marine Park, We had a Nice Swahili Fish and Coconut rice lunch, The Food, the Beauty of the Camp, and Ambience of the Tent  prompted us to book an extra night at the Camp site, We lodged at the front tents by the ocean overlooking the Wasini Island with a Private partio extending to the Sea, We had some great Sunset moments by the deck in front of our Tent, the Tent is Spacious and Luxurious, Im a beer drinker while on Holiday so our Fridge was stocked with beers throughout our stay, You literary get woken up by the roaring of the Ocean waves hitting the creek, Managed to catch a squid on our last Morning at the Partio, we gave it to Patric the Chef, By the Way all credits to Patric, he doubled as the Chef and the jack of all trades, very friendly chap, full of energy, his meals are out of this world, He would give us suggestion and options of the meals he wanted us to try from Fish, Calamari, Chicken, Light lunch some sort of a veggy Wrap, and the Kingly English breakfast with a Twist of the Costal or oriental vibe, the Owners dogs are very friendly and disciplined ,Zeus was my homeboy the attention seeker
The Washrooms and Bathrooms are communal, about 10 yards from the Tent, very clean and eco-friendly, everything about the Camp is eco-friendly, very well kept, blending well with the forest, First class service with TLC, We highly recommend Wasini Lookout to anyone going for snorkeling or diving at Wasini

A romantic gate away by the ocean

The Ocean front tent number 2 was all we wanted, the bed is very comfortable, the tent was superbly clean and spacious. The linen changed every other day, the ocean views are spectacular, the food is really delicious freshly prepared- Fish, Chicken, beef steak, Coconut rice, the potatoes, you name it, the breakfast was also good and done to your liking all credits to Patrick
We went on a 7 hours big game fishing expedition, and caught a Mahimahi, a big Wahoo and a sail fish, we also did a snorkeling tour to the Kisite Marine Park with Pilli Pipa dhow, In the evenings we would just sit by the Jetty in front of our Tent drinking the Tusker beer as we gazed and got lost in the tranquility of the sunset
Jakob the Camp Manager and Patrick the Chef were a great Hosts, Nothing was too much for them and were always available and ready to help whenever we would ask, unfortunately we can’t remember the names of the other camp staff as we met so many friendly people at the Camp
Patrick took us for a nice village tour of the Wasini Island, the Slave Cave and the Three Giant Sister Caves, We also did some Kayaking and tried out some hand line fishing at the channel in front of the camp but was disastrous as we were not able to coordinate the fishing and rowing, story for another day
The Wifi speeds are good but not reliable kept on buffing from time to time but generally good
Toilets and Bathrooms are communal but were exceptionally clean
The food and drinks price were fair, Patrick made sure that our fridge in the tent was always stocked with TUSKER, he also made for us some really good Swahili Ginger creamy tea
One of our great Highlights was the hand line fishing at the tent Jetty, we caught some fish on two occasions and we had Patrick cook it for us
Finally the Wasini lookout Camp surpassed our expectation and our gratitudes go to Patrick and Jakob and every other staff member for making our stay Memorable.  We will definitely recommend Wasini Lookout to everyone who wants to go on Quiet vacay away from the Noisy Mass tourist resorts

The Lost Paradise

Firefly eco retreat came up as we searched online for Accommodations in Shimoni, My wife and I decided to extend our holiday taking advantage of the deals offered by the different Hotels, with a few more days in the country, We already had enough of Diani Beach and Wanted to venture into somewhere hoping to explore on our diving options
Firefly eco retreat stroke our curiosity when we read the last review on Trip advisor, It was confusing at first because it appeared as firefly ocean camp and not eco retreat!!!However after a few checks with the leading holiday booking engines we were convinced and learnt that it was one or the same place only that there was a Change of Management and rebranding to meet the actual Atmosphere of the Camp, didn’t really matter as long as we landed ourselves at the right place
We tried booking online but on the second thought we opted to check out the place first,  We took a taxi from Diani beach which was about $40. Took us about 1 hour on a scenic drive heading south through the coastal country side, driving through a massive sugarcane plantation and finally arriving at the camp,
The Sign board at the Camp was still reading  Firefly ocean camp, but that didn’t bother us much as we were here and our actual concern was finding a good place to spend the next four days and make the Most of the Dive sites and new experience
We were met with Patrick who was very friendly and accommodating all throughout our stay; The Camp had only 3 people staying who were divers as well, and other volunteers involved with coral Reef reef planting and repair - an organization named REEFolution… about 7 local lads and girls from the village 
We took the Ocean front tents, they were spotless clean and spacious, a comfortable 4 poster bed with a mozzy net, good linen, had a spacious balcony, and a jetty lounge where we used to have our sunsets moments
The Tents are by the Ocean front barely 5mts to the creek, we didn’t have to use the fan in the tent because it was cool and loved to go sleep and wake up to the sound of the roving ocean
Patrick made us the best food, Our Favorite was the Calamari, and the Chicken he gave us the options in the Morning and everything would just fall into place,
Our favorite Dive spots were the Pink reef, Kisite Marine Park and the Wasini Channel which I could only compare to Lembeh in Indonesia
Generally the camp is clean, the Toilets and shower rooms are clean, The Food is out of this world, Staff were very courteous and friendly ,Many thanks Patrick the Jack of all trades as we nick named him and Yatin the Dive Instructor and Jackob the Camp Manager for making our stay memorable..We would highly recommend Firefly camp to everyone and if you want to have the Best of Diving in Kenya, this is where you should be….
