Andrea is a very pleasant host who speaks English perfectly. The accomodation and breakfast are of very good quality. Andrea will offer very good advice on the activities nearby and suggest many local guides to help you plan the many activities you can do around Karakol. You can also park your car for free and offers different services such as laundry

Great guest house

Riverside Guesthouse is an excellent choice to stay in Barakol and I could not recommend it highly enough. Andre is incredibly helpful and helped to plan horse riding, trekking in the mountains as well as a sunset boat trip on Issy-Kul. The guesthouse is very comfortable with en suite bathrooms, comfy beds, excellent Wi-Fi and a delicious breakfast. If you’re in Karakol this is 100% the place you have to visit and stay at - 5* all round and 10/10!

The best place to stay in Karakol by far!

We stayed here for 3 nights, 2 nights before the hike to Ala Kul and 1 after. Rooms are very comfortable with nice beds, also shower and toilet en suite. The owners are incredibly helpfull, gave us lots of tips for the hike, also rented the camping equipment needed. Hike was very hard, so I would suggest getting a guide if not very experienced hikers, we did it without but there were times we regretted the decision. After the 3 day hike coming back to Riverside felt amazing!

Very comfortable

Great place, very friendly and helpful staff. Very personal. Also received some great travel advice for side excursions. Would have loved to stay longer, but sadly it was fully booked for the next night.

And now for some stupid rule of tripadvisor I need to fill 200 characters, which is complete BS as it puts people off actually writing feedback, and the system detects if only entering repetitive characters or blanks, hence I hope some tripadvisor staff actually takes note of it, as I love the site, but this requirement/feature is simply nonsense.

Superb hostel, tucked away just outside  of the main ‘downtown -  very easy to get around. Lovely, friendly owners who helped with recommendations on tours, restaurants and things to do. And great breakfast!  

Fantastic stay 

We stayed in Riverside by great coincidence as we were planing to stay I different one which appeared to be closed in April. The atmosphere is peaceful and cozy - lovely quality of the rooms. And the food is superb.

Excellent guest stay 

We stayed there for 4 nights, and we highly recommend this guesthouse. Owners are extremely nice and helpful, rooms and breakfast are good, and we got everything we needed. You can get a taxi for any place in Karakol for 70 som.

Great place to stay in Karakol!

A few weeks before traveling from Alaska and Georgia (USA) to Kyrgyzstan to visit our daughter/sister who is serving in the Peace Corps, we looked for lodging for a three-day stay in Karakol.  After seeing all of the great reviews for this place, I sent a reservation inquiry via email but got no response after a few days.  I then sent a WhatsApp message and still got no response.  Finally, I had my daughter in Kyrgyzstan call Riverside.  She spoke to the wife/owner who said that the guesthouse had rooms available for us.  The wife/owner made clear that we had a reservation, and said, "I will remember."  

When we arrived we were met by the husband/owner who had no record of us and said the place was full.  He tried to explain that his wife was in Bishkek for a couple of days.  He then got her on the phone and passed it to my daughter, who reminded her of their conversation. She then immediately asked to speak to her husband. After a few more minutes of conversation, the husband/owner explained that the rooms we had requested were already occupied, and there was nothing he could do. Bottom line: we were assured that we had a reservation, but there were no rooms available for us upon our arrival.  Completely unacceptable by any metric.

The silver lining is that, with the Riverside owner's assistance, were able to find rooms in a nearby B&B (Happy Guest Bed and Breakfast), which was wonderful and probably a much better experience that we would have had at Riverside.  But that doesn't excuse the completely unprofessional and unacceptable handling of our reservation.
