We stayed at Phou Iu III Bungalows one night before taking our ethnic tour with Phou Iu Travel and Eco-tourism.
The place is a good value for money and the owner was very kind and gave us the possibility to take a shower when we returned from our tour and they   arranged the booking of  a taxi for us to go to Nateuy train station.
To reach Luang Namtha we highly reccommend to arrive and leave from Nateuy train station. Only if there is no train schedule to Nateuy you might decide to arrive and leave from Boten. However, the route to and from Boten is very bumbing and there are not many taxi and minivan available there. Nateuy is definitely a better choice

The Bungalows in Luang Namtha

I had a wonderful stay at this charming place! From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms by the friendly and welcoming family that runs the place.

The rooms are a delight – spacious, cozy, and adorned with a blend of bamboo hut style and modern comforts. The bed was big and very comfortable.

It has a lovely balcony attached to my room. It became my go-to place for unwinding and soaking in the serene surroundings. The attention to detail in creating a space that combines local authenticity with comfort truly impressed me.

And the wifi was surprisingly excellent! Even in this tranquil setting, I was able to stay connected without any hitches. I struggled in Laos to find acceptable WiFi in the places I stayed before.

The true heart of this experience, however, was the food. The delicious local cuisine served here is very good. Sharing meals with the family felt like a beautiful cultural exchange.

What made this stay truly special was the warmth of the staff and the family running the bungalow. Their genuine hospitality made me feel like more than just a guest – I felt like a part of their extended family.

There were some minor drawbacks, which didn't bother much. The bathroom could have been bit nicer and there is a Karaoke place a bit further away which you can hear sometimes in the night. They are not playing music beyond a 11 pm in my experience and it didn't bother me a lot. I stayed much longer than I initially planned as I liked the place a lot.

If you're looking for a unique getaway that blends comfort, authenticity, and a welcoming atmosphere, this place is a great choice.

The bungalows are simple but absolutely clean & well taken care. Quiet location. 

They also organize excellent excursions with perfect English speaking guide. Recommended: Trekking to Namha National Park with Mr. Xai by Noy.

Cozy, lovely & excellent value.

Clean place, good breakfast, the owner is working really hard to make everyone feel comfortable. She helped us book train tickets (which is no easy task in Laos) and she kept our luggage stored while we were jungle trekking. Very nice stay.

Nice place. The room was clean and the water was comfortably lukewarm.

Kind of waking up after the covid pandemic not everything is right in place again, but a very lovely retreat in town.

Lovely bungalows in Luang Namtha

I stayed before and after my trek in the Namtha region. The bungalows are close to town, clean and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable with a mosquito net. The shower was nice and hot. There is no AC but fan is provided. Kettle in the room with tea and coffee. My room had a nice little deck area to sit out. No TV in the room. The Wifi is free and quick. The breakfast is good - quite a few different options to choose from. The staff are very friendly and speak quite good English. They are trying very hard to get back on their feet after Covid. Willing to help with travel arrangements. Namtha is a small town so I got the impression that most people in the travel industry know each other. I would stay again and recommend for a comfortable stay. Only thing to note : perhaps bring earplugs as there is hotel/restaurant that plays music every night that can get a bit loud.

Comfortable stay

Nice room and owner but I was disappointed by the lack of view and thought it was quite expensive compared to other places and bungalows in the area. As a solo female traveler, I also disliked walking on the  darkroad that leads to/from the bungalows at night (lots of drunk drivers, even in such a small town).

Average and pricey

First impressions were not good as the grounds are somewhat unkempt but the room was huge, breakfast decent and the staff friendly. There were 3 swimming pools and a large restaurant on the grounds which were closed during our stay - we guess that they use these during the hot season? We stayed a few days and became quite fond of the place.

Pleasantly surprised

Good enough for the rate, rooms are spacious and clean although a bit outdated. The owner is helpful and activities and transport can be organized directly there. Nice terrace, swilling pool. Breakfast with bread eggs and fruits is good. 5 min walking from center and night market.
