as usual, i'm reviewing and posting photos here because google maps shadowbans 1 star reviews, and i promise you this place has many! on google maps it is currently advertised as "visoun luang prabang hotel" and "visoun namsok hotel".
Worst hotel experience I've endured, and budget travel in SE Asia has some doozies. I stayed here for 3 days.
-they did not have the room i booked on agoda. instead of giving me the street facing balcony room i paid more for, they gave me a no-view room that smelled like urine facing the interior, which they have tented over and made into a hotpot restaurant (best cafe). the ten is old/moldy and at face level.
-i was 4th on line to argue with the receptionist about my room assignment and had to wait 2 hours to do so, because 3 guests who arrived the same evening were also assigned incorrect unacceptable rooms! of those other guests, 2 left aftert that first night, i stayed because agoda will never give back more than 50% of what you paid, and the other couple stayed because they are locals who also can't afford this bs.
- the best room they could find for me was an alley facing room with two single beds that reeks of mold and cigarette smoke so strongly it hits you when you open the door, every time and makes your eyes water when you wake up in the morningon a hall with 4 rooms where guests clearly smoke (easy to tell from the stench coming from their doors) even though i explained i have asthma and can't endure this nonsense
- speaking of the guests, it's a lot of group tours and longterm? residents . . . very rude, very literally disgusting with the spitting and smoking in your face and yelling at everyone (staff, other guests, *everyone) and pretending they literally don't hear you when you tell them to stop. you know who i mean!
-fake pictures. check out my pictures which tell the real story. the owners of this place have never put a single cent into it and dg af if you stay or go, they will do nothing for you and rely on the booking sites and travel agents to make it impossible for you to get a refund. they also have the place on map and booking sites under 2 names to even out the bad reviews. i also noticed that between the 2 names there are only 25 reviews, but the place is at least 25 years old. obviously they're claiming the maps listing as owners and deleting it when reviews get too bad, and then relisting it again . . . and again . . . and again.
- the family that owns the place lives in rooms next to the lobby and scurries around trying to avoid all the unhappy guests. they purposefully put an english speaking desk person (or family member?) on duty during the day when no one is there, and non-english speaking people at the desk during check-in hours and overnight so that unhappy guests just give up. they should be ashamed.
- also no cleaning and thousand year old towels, shish wifi, no lift


worst in SE Asia

This wasn't the planned hotel but proved to be a good alternative.  Located five minutes from the night market with easy accessibility to a number of other sites around LP, I was able to get around easily.  The steps at the front of the hotel are ridiculously steep so use the somewhat hidden flight to the left side of the entrance My room was clean and quiet;  breakfast was basic with fresh fruit and the usual temperamental toaster.  

Staff were charming, polite and helpful. 

It does have wi-fi but only reliable in Reception for texts, nothing more demanding.

Well located friendly hotel

I normally get annoyed by people leaving reviews of places they haven't actually stayed, but I can't not in this case. We had a booking with Hotels.com that was confirmed and pre-paid. When we arrived, we were told the hotel was full. As far as they were concerned, they had cancelled our booking and filled the rooms. They would not offer a refund. (On Hotels.com website it was still listed as "rooms available"). The staff were fairly indifferent about the situation. We called Hotels.com and they were luckily able to transfer us, but this took several hours of phone calls. During the time we were sorting it, two French couples arrived with a reservation. They had booked but not prepaid and were told they could have their rooms but at twice the price they booked at. They left to find a different hotel themselves. Another couple then arrived with a pre-paid room booked online.  They also kicked up a fuss and were allowed to stay in the "manager's room". About an hour later (we were still in the lobby on the phone with Hotels.com) the manager arrived, was furious and forcibly removed them from her room and said they couldn't stay.
So my advice would be, don't book this hotel. That was three separate bookings all messed up in three hours, not just a one-off experience.
On the plus side, Hotels.com were incredible. I cannot fault their customer service!

Pre-paid bookings not honoured

My friend and i had 2 nights in this hotel. Everything is perfect. Located near by the night market and very easy to go visit the city. A nice room, good service, the people are kindly! 
Hope they have more and more the tourists in the futrue.

Khách sạn tốt, giá tốt,

The hotel is very nice....in front of a quite busy street, but if you get a room in the back is great. Is 7 minutes walk to the center which holds every night the flee market. The staff is great. Not so much speaking good english but the manager and owner Knot (spelling might be wrong) this will be fixed. Breakfast basic but a lovely way to start the day. little shops all around for everything you need. Anyhow Luang Prabang is unique experience . Must visit the waterfalls...both small n big...

Lovely hotel to stay in Luang Prabang

We ate lunch at their restaurant, as part of the package in our 3-day Luang Prabang tour. The place doesn't look much, but the food is surprisingly good! We were served vermicelli veggie soup, spring rolls, duck with a sweetish sauce, veggie omelette, and stir-fried mixed veggies - we loved every single one of those dishes. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like to get a taste of nice, yummy, simple local food.
