This hostel made me feel at home, all of the staffs are super friendly, helpful and multifunctional. They helped me to book the ticket without commission because when I compare with the price on 12goasia, the price was surprisingly 2 times lower than on the web. Although cheap ticket, they provided us the best service ever, message to remind the trip, call to confirm and take care after the trip. It was amazing ❤️❤️❤️

Amazing stay with best location, best service ever

We only stayed one night here before the slowboat to Thailand, but it was absolutely our best experience!  The staff is far the best the kindest we met! Our plans changed a bit after we booked, and they were very helpful and flexible and also easy to communicate with. We went for a short visit to Vang Vieng and in the meanwhile, we could keep our large backpacks in their luggage storage for 2days.  Also they arranged the slowboat for us: they had the cheapest ticket we found, we ended up staying in a 4beds room instead of 10beds to leave easier, in the morning they prepared and packed our breakfast fro take-away, a driver picked us up, guided to the slowboat and explained how it will go.  The hostel overall was very nice, cute common area, nice showers, small lockers above the bed to keep valuables safe, a local market in the front street and everything is pretty close (except the bus and train station).

Top1 in Luang Prabang

The hostel was nice and I liked the free breakfast every morning. The location was really good! Also staff was nice, for example I booked 3 nights but I used only 2 nights because I met a friend and started travel with her and it was okay that I paid only for 2 nights! (That was probably the first time when some hostel was okay with this thing)

Nice hostel with a very good location

This place is great! We stayed for 4 nights and we slept so good. The owner is so nice and hard working, they try their best to keep everything clean (although it's a big hostel, the bathrooms can get quite dirty sometimes but because of nasty backpackers). The breakfast was so good too! Free coffee and tea all day, very near the night market, morning market and Mekong river, very secure. I also loved that the rooms are so silent, everyone tried their best to respect everyone's sleep. There are lockers, a lamp and electric socket in every bed, also the curtains are the best thing for more privacy. You can't beat all this with the price! We will definitely come back (:

One of my favorite hostels ever!

This hostel has a great location, right in the morning market and near to the Mekong river and the night market. The morning market is quite subdued, not a noise problem. Facilities are very good. The mattress was very comfortable, there are privacy curtains and a small locker beside each bunk.
I found the staff available and helpful. Breakfast is the usual choices, but with a baguette, warm and crisp if you're in luck, instead of the usual toast. The coffee is poor, but 10K kip will buy you a good cup in the market outside. The common area could be better arranged for socialising. The ground floor dorms are directly off this space, so they might be affected by noise.

Great base to explore LP.

Great location, a few minutes walking to the night market. Comfortable bed with air conditioning, clean toilet, and good breakfast. Very friendly owner, always willing to help you. Highly recomended, Will comeback again if i have a chance. All the best for you, man. 

Great place to stay ! 

After arriving with my friends at the Downtown Backpackers, we quickly realized the gap between the pictures and the place.
It was cheap so we let it go and moved on to more important things.
After the day, we went to bed and got woken up by a lady that works at the hostel that came in the room at 8am, switched the light on while everybody was sleeping, switched the AC off and left leaving the dorm's door open. Our dorm leads directly to the breakfast room.
That is something that I had never experienced in the past and I have been travelling for 2 years now.

My advice : stay away from this place.
Their photos look nice but it has nothing to do with the reality of the place and the guest service of its people.

Photos look good, place doesn't!! 

I had originally booked a bed at another hostel, but decided to cancel and stay at Downtown Backpackers 2 when I saw the pictures and read the reviews. I don't regret my decision, but I have to say that the photos of the dorms can be a bit misleading. My dorm certainly didn't look as nice as what you can see on those pics.

Stayed in a 4-bed dorm with A/C and a ceiling fan. Each bed has its own fan and locker and power outlets.

Toilets and bathrooms were clean and the common room with the pool table was a great place to hang out and meet people.

The free breakfast was tasty, generous, and included quite a few options. Clearly didn't expect that for 11$ a night!

The staff were friendly, even if not all of them speak good English. The girl who manages the hostel, especially, was always there to answer my questions and offer suggestions.

Location is just a few minutes outside of the central part of Luang Prabang. But you're just a short walk away from the night market and most of the tourist attractions, restaurants, coffee shops, bars, etc.

Downtown Backpackers 2 hostel is clean and comfortable, and for that price you can't really ask for more. Sure, there are better hostels out there. But in this price range, you can't beat the value of this one.

Stayed at Downtown Backpackers 2 hostel

Very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is really good! There is a lamp, electrical socket and locker at every bed (even though the lamp at my bed didn't work).  It's very easy to meet other travellers as the whole of the first floor is the dining area where you can have breakfast, sit around and talk to people. Great location, as the night market is just 2 minutes away. The morning market is right outside so it may get a little noisy. If you stay on the second floor, you can hear people walking around so it might disturb your sleep a little. But overall, I had a very fun and comfortable stay here. Plus, the price is more than reasonable, considering that you get free breakfast. There's also laundry service which is great. The man in charge of the laundry services is really nice and helpful :)

Awesome Hostel

I have been in a few hostels before and this one is my least favorite. The rooms are small and they managed to cramp 4 bunkbeds in one room. The floors are made of wood, so you can hear everyone walking and going up the steps. It was annoying at night when I was trying to sleep. 
I was given a top bunk and the fan was very close to my face.

On the bright side...
They do have a safe for each bed but you'll need to bring your own lock. There is free wifi but I havent used it and free breakfast. Breakfast this morning was mainly fruits. However, I was told by another person that they also have eggs. 
Showers and bathrooms always being cleaned, so that is great.
