A well known hotel in the restaurant part of town frequented by locals and close to the (not tourist) shopping area, the hotel is part of the first hotels built in Vientiane, a part of history, built in the traditional Thai / Lao timber design slowly disapearing in Asia, if you stay here you will be welcomed by Vue the hotel manager who speaks good English and will assist you with any needs, if you arrive at night you will be welcomed by Bie, a student working the night shift, although he speaks English well he welcomes conversation to improve his English skills, the rooms are well apointed with solid timber furniture, hot showers, tv, a/c and fan, a safe is found in the wardrobe, cannot find any faults, the hotel also has an elevator to all floors, a free breakfast is provided, i have staid in many hotels in Vientiane, i really enjoyed staying here.
Although the main tourist area is located at the night market, it could be a 15 minute walk but who walks in Vientiane, from the hotel to the night market is a short tuk tuk (took took) ride away, the locals pay 30000 kip, i pay 40000, that's the fare don't pay more, welcome to Vientiane, enjoy your stay.

Great location, away from the tourist traps

Conveniently located in the centre of Vientiane, this place was excellent and staff very friendly. The building has character and is well maintained, and the area is very safe and a short stroll from attractions.

Fantastic hotel

This hotel is a bit of a walk to the river if you want to go to the night market but no undoable by any means.  There are restaurants across the street and a few roads over but I felt a little uncomfortable on this street at night; my husband said it was fine!

Our room was a good size as was the bathroom and the bed was comfortable.  Everything was very clean and the staff were friendly.  

The room did not have a safe so we had to carry our passports and money around with us all day but didn't want to leave it in our room.

We did like that there was a balcony on each floor with a couple of chairs so we sat outside in the afternoons and only once had to go to another floor to find a spot to sit

Breakfast was included in our rate and was ok, they put too much oil in the pan when they made the omelette and didn't seem to understand the next day to put less in the pan.  Fruit was good and plentiful.

A little out of the way

We had a fantastic stay for 2 nights in the Khampiane Boutique Hotel. The rooms themselves were nicely decorated and create a comfortable vibe.Great location and tasty breakfast. The employees were all very kind and helpful including the manager, who was very responsive to any questions or requests. Highly recommend

We checked out early without a refund after money was stolen from our room! Even then, the wifi was sketchy, the bedclothes and towels were dirty, the bathroom was filthy and had an extremely dangerous light fitting secured to the wall by tape. Oh, and the breakfast was free because it would have been an insult to charge for it. Avoid at all costs!

The hotel is in a great location - just round the corner from the airport shuttle bus stop (even though we took a taxi as 3 of us would have cost KIP45K on the bus whereas taxi is just a little more at KIP60K). It is also walking distance from the night food market (just 2 streets down), about 10 minute walk). The pork on a skewer, spring rolls and sausages are out of this world at the market! 
The breakfast was ok. Pick a main (eggs, various styles, french toast, noodles, etc) and the rest is buffet - ciffee/tea, fruits, toast, cornflakes. You can fill up your water bottle here too.
Room was spacious with sleeping arrangements for 3 adults. Bathroom needs an upgrade, maintenance-wise. Shower holder broken, etc.
Next to the hotel is Noy's fruit shop that sells shakes (from KIP15K), Spring rolls and baguette, etc. Coffee shake is good. They ran out of coconut and blueberry was so-so. Baguette (we took away for lunch at Buddha Park) was dry and not tasty.
Round the corner and even in front of the hotel, are tuk-tuks which can take you to Buddha Park and the temples. We took one to Buddha Patk and The Great Stupa for KIP230K, for 3 of us, return, including waiting time. Saw Patuxai on the way back.
Overall, food is not cheap in Laos.
