I stayed two nights in Kolonna Hotel Cesis and I'm very happy about the experience. The hotel is located in a picturesque place. The isolation is very good, so the hotel room is quiet. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast was good. The room was small, but comfortable and clean. The pillows could have been softer, though. I travelled because of work, so I didn't have time to walk around much, but in summer Cesis is very beautiful. 

Beautiful Cesis

I was looking for a place to stay on our visit to Sigulda and the area and on our way to Estonia and this hotel was a good choice.  

The hotel lobby and restaurant area is very nice, albeit a little old fashion…but that was part of the charm.   Front desk was very attentive, friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking in front of the hotel on the street.   And the price was very reasonable.

There is NO ELEVATOR (its an old hotel), but as I was struggling to take our heavy bags up the stairs, one of the hotel staff came up and asked to help.  And when I went to tip him, he refused to take it…but I insisted.     

The room was clean and nice, albeit a bit tight.  But we were there for only one night.  Bed was comfortable. Had a desk to work on and reasonable plug availability.   Wifi worked well enough but not perfect as it did come and go at times.   

Buffet in the main dining room could have been a bit better…but I gathered there were not a lot of guests at the hotel as part of the buffet was not filled (one of the warmers was empty and not being used).  Still had  sausage, great potato pancakes, what looked like a frittata (but it had been in the warmer too long as it was pretty dried out) some cold meats ,cheeses , hard oiled eggs, but only a few pastries.  

The restaurant was not open the night we were there, but they have a cafeteria and pizza parlor downstairs that was pretty busy...but it did not appeal to us.

Short walk to main part of town …but we did have trouble that night finding a place open …at 8pm!

While I felt it was an ok stay, keep in mind it is only a 3 star hotel and probably the best in town.  

Overall, for a one night stay in a small town, this was fine for us and I would recommend it to others.



Good place to Stay in the Area

We stayed two nights in this well renovated hotel in central Cesis and had a very comfortable room with all mod cons. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful checking bus times for us and arranging transfer to the bus station as we had too much luggage to be able to walk the short distance. The included breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and was well served. We can thoroughly recommend staying here as it is well situated for local sights including the famous castle.


Well situated comfortable hotel

It was our second stay at Cesis hotel and we quite liked it again. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable for sleep. Breakfast is also good for a small hotel. The location is great and the park is just gorgeous! 

I would be happy to come again.

Nice stay

Very clean, spacious room, beautiful view, comfortable bed. Welcome, great location and parking right in front of the hotel. Breakfast on the outdoor terrace with beautiful park views.

Very poor breakfast, small selection. If there was a salad at the start of breakfast, it was eaten and the bowl was not replenished. Same with buns. Basically there were 2 cheeses, an omelette, sausages, a cucumber and tomatoes. The coffee machine was brought only around 9 o'clock. The girl who removed the dishes was very unhappy.

As well as a specific number for the wishes, I received in the reply that the wish will be fulfilled, but the number was given to another. Trifle, but sad, cuz they promised.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Cēsis. Perfect location, very helpful staff and I thought the breakfast was fine. We also enjoyed our dinner at the hotel restaurant. Our room was very clean and comfortable.

Nice Hotel

This historic hotel has three floors without an elevator, so if mobility is an issue, you’ll need to take a pass. The hotel has lots of character. Our room is small, though everything (including our two medium sized suitcases) fit. The room is clean and the bathroom has been nicely updated and is a medium size. Front desk and porter were very helpful. The hotel has a very good location, being a short distance to the castle, restaurants and bars. 

Lovely updated 1930’s hotel - good location 

This was quite nice stay, the hotel room had been renovated recently, so it was spacious, clean, nice bed and quiet room. Other guest where quiet as well. There were a bar in the cellar of the hotel and restaurant as well. Only problem I had was that the breakfast wasn't that special but you can manage with it. Also the location is in the middle of the town, nice walk in the beautiful parks.

Nice experience

Lovely hotel right in the town centre, 2 beautiful parks nearby. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially in the reception,they were happy to help. 
Room was nice and clean, bed were very comfortable, only TV wasn’t so good,as a signal were poor.
Breakfast was good as well,quite big selection of everything. The girl who were working in the breakfast hall look unhappy and sad tho.
My only disappointment was that 2 bottles of water provided in the room was actually charged €1 each when they could actually be complimentary.
Overall ,happy with our stay and would recommend to the others.

Lovely hotel in centre of the town.

Normally we wouldn’t eat in a hotel restaurant but in this case, it really was a good choice. The number of dishes available is limited but the preparation and presentation are truly excellent. The service was very good too.
