Liva Hotel

I stayed at the Līva Hotel in Liepajā, Latvia for two nights in Mid August this year and had a good experience. This was the second time I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, the first time was a few years ago and I was happy too see how much refurbished the hotel is now compared to my previous visit in the early 00's. The room had a big and powerful A/C system and a wall mounted Philips brand flat screen TV with most Latvian TV-channels in both Latvian and Russian. No English language channels or other foreign language channels were available. No casting from mobile devices to the TV either. Bathroom was very clean and had a bath tub and shower combination. This is really a classic establishment that has been around since the 1960's and its location can’t be beat. It’s literally right in the center of the city right with most things in close proximity, for example the Great Amber Convention Center, three shopping centers Kurzeme, Ostmala and Rietmu is all within approximately 5 mins walking distance. RTU uni is right across the street. There is a tram stop called Līva right outside and also many buses stop there. The Liepajā train station and bus terminal Liepajā Autoosta is a 22 minute or so walk from the hotel and the Liepajā Airport (LPX) is a 12 minute drive from the hotel. In conclusion it’s a solid choice with attractive price and good value for money. Would stay there again and I would definitely recommend. The only thing where there is room for improvement is the WiFi. The signal was weak and the connection kept on dropping throughout the whole day. At the time of this stay there was very much people staying there for a football game and I had a room in the middle of the corridor so I could only speculate that it is problem with perhaps over capacity and weak signal that does not go all the way down the corridor.
