I hope you never have problems with the owner! 

First I had to write email after email to get a quite unfriendly answer, telling me I will leave them starving if I want my money back. After that I tried to -at least- get an correct voucher (i only recieved a voucher for half the price I payed before) - no more answers to my mails. thats not the way you should treat your clients.
Corona was hard for everyone (I lost my mother) - but you can at least sort things out and find solutions instead of stealing money and not answerting at all.

· Location is very good, right in the center of old Riga. Staff is friendly and hostel is clean and secure. Simple breakfast is available i.e. yogurt, cereal, milk and tea.

 · Would have loved to have some bread available given the fact that there were toasters and jam available. Also a dustbin in the room would have been also better.

We were ripped off: They did not send us the code to collect the keys, and when we tried to call the owner, his phone was switched off, even when we called at the established time. In addition, they charged us in advance half the amount and refuse to return our money. Do not book this accommodation under any circumstances.

Don't reserve here

Let me make myself clear right away - there's food at your disposal at all times. It's not much - cereal, pudding, milk, jam, etc, but when everything around you is closed and you have no idea where to find a shop in the neighborhood, boy it sure is nice.

But GOD! That was by far the WORST night's sleep I've had all my life - and I mean it! I think I have some long-lasting consequences on my lower back and shoulders. There was literally (I swear I'm not exaggerating) a body indentation on my bed - which was more of a springs-covered-with-sheets than a bed. I actually had to fit my butt in the hole first, so that the rest of my body finds its way around it.

Location-wise, it's good. There are better-located and cheaper ones though.
The receptionist was one of the nicest people I'd met in Latvia.

I'm giving it 3* only because of the food...

Its quite noisy.. we had to pay for towels. There was nothing to throw away rubish on the room. We had to wait at 5pm for our room. The staff was nice but we had to call then to the mobile pho e because they were not st the hostel a couple of times. But it was quite clean!!

Clean but noisy

Stayed at this hostel for a couple of nights on a cultural trip with about 15 other friends including one who was due to get married in the summer.
The rooms are very basic but very clean, and the bunk beds comfortable.  Sheets for the bunk beds were provided, though you must administer these yourself.
Unfortunately on the first night, after a long day in the sun, which never really seemed to set in the northern european city, 2 members of our party fell ill around 6am, shortly after the group returned from an evening sampling the different bars the city had to offer.  The 2 guys made some noise (and perhaps were a bit untidy) whilst they were ill, as did some of the rest of the party who were stumbling to bed at the time following an exciting first 17 hours in Riga.
It caused some other guests in one room to complain to management and leave the establishment the next morning, I can understand their frustration that the communal toilet was blocked in the morning, though it was an overreaction in my opinion.
The splendid lady in charge came to us in the morning, a little unhappy to be honest, and explained we should pay a small refundable deposit of €20 per person for the remainder of our stay to cover the costs of a plumber plus any damage which could hypothetically occur during the remainder of our stay.  
She made good on her word and returned the deposit minus the plumbing costs upon check out, which we used to cover our final bar tab.
If you need to do laundry this was possible, as was the possibility for some light cooking in the accommodation, great value and run very well by the owners, a great place for all kind of tourists on a budget.  I would come back again in future.
  

Firm But Fair

Place were helpful accommodating a late check in & it's in a great location one minute from the Old Town. Room was very basic but that's to be expected for the price. Major problem with the place is that the walls are paper thin... if someone closes a door on another floor it's going to wake you up. This was annoying but bearable the first two days, then the weekend hit & a group of many idiotic drunks turned up next door playing music, screaming & running around the corridors until 5am - obviously the hostel aren't to blame for that but the reception closes at 6 & there is no one there to ensure guests act respectfully. We reported this to the hostel & requested a room change... they claimed to have spoken to the guests but no room change was offered. Apart from the noise it's a perfect budget option... but the noise is just so extreme I couldn't recommend it.

Great location, terrible night's sleep.

Quick easy check in... multiple points of security to get into building which is good. Decent facilities and good options for brekky well all day brekky ... the room was ok size with bed and heater and window.. however i must agree with other reviewers this is an extremely noisy hostel .. u hear EVERYTHING.. and i mean i can hear conversations on level 2 and im on level 1.... the walls just dont give u any break from the outside world... the wifi was good and fast... i just wish we could have gotten more sleep but the noises from other guests in other rooms was just unbearable and theres no staff around to monitor the noise so u either confront them or give up looking for a good night sleep.... dont get me wrong i liked the place and the location was fabulous and the price excellent but i was looking for more sleep...

Noisy but still ok

A nice cosy cheap stay and would stay again.
Surrounded by a few restaurants and close to the old town sights.
Only negatives: walls thin, never say receptionist as was out and the breakfast is literally yogurts, cornflakes or porridge. That's it...

Cosy

Great location, friendly and polite staff, all day free breakfast. Excellent price and value of money. It worths 100%.  Include all kitchen facilities and equipment, laundry machine etc. I felt like home. Cosy area, free WiFi, heater and radiators provided.
