This is a warm and hospitable family-run guesthouse near the Rhein.  Lichtenstein does not generally offer high value for money, and hotel prices can be a bit shocking.  With that said, this guesthouse exceeded our expectations!  The wine produced by the vineyard is incredible quality!  It was the best pinot noir I've had the pleasure of tasting!  While there is no longer dinner service, the host's recommendation to eat at another guesthouse up the road was perfectly adequate for our needs.  The breakfast was very good--especially the coffee!  The bed was extremely comfortable, and the balcony was a nice perk.  Most of all, the hosts went above and beyond to welcome us and help us enjoy our stay--including our dog.  I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when in the area!

Lovely option in Lichtenstein!

Liechtenstein is expensive, so this family run hotel is good value as a base for exploring.  Couldn't be easier to get to, the no 11 bus from Sargans stops right opposite, where there is also a useful post office and cash machine.   The owner speaks English and is very welcoming.  Good bus connections to Liechtenstein, Austria and Switzerland.  There are two places to eat in Bendern, Gasthaus zum lowen on the hill, and Bacio, but the buses run till midnight so you can go anywhere.  Nice panormaic walk up the hill to the church.   Breakfast is continental, and was so substantial we didn't need lunch.   They do serve lunch here too.

Good value, clean, warm, welcoming

We literally sailed the rhine river all day long along with various hills and chapels and took some guided tours as well. We had to go to vaduz but were pretty tired so we ended up here as suggested by our local cab driver. The place is between average and good. The owner was very generous and provided us with the best he could. Couldn't see much around the hotel as we arrived late evening. Slept peacefully and had some good breakfast in the morning up the hill and the fresh fruits were really good. This was a low cost stay as compared to the costly stay we had in vaduz and in general in liechtenstein.

Rhine stopover

Before I begin on this Guesthouse review, it is important everyone understands what is available for what price in this little country.
In this price range you should expect, clean rooms, to be warm and a good local typical breakfast - unless you are in a more central location such as Vaduz / Schaan there is not much else to do, so do your homework...

I have stayed here 2 times before this review, since my business was nearby everytime and has been ideal for me.
Everytime the owners have been very hospitable & welcoming when I have met / spoken to them, they will also provide you with any information if you ask (best ask in advance)
The rooms as all such in this budget range in Liechtenstein are dated and yet fully functional, Heating is available if needed / AC is not often available in Switzerland/ Liechtenstein and you will normally find the rooms very clean. I always have found this particular Guesthouse clean.

Parking is available on site as is wifi.

Comfortable & best price I have had

I also like to see the positive in places I stay, and I have stayed at really good places on this trip, until this one.  Very pretty on the outside, but I should have realised when we received a message saying there would be no one here and they would leave a key...But ok, things can happen and give them the benefit of the doubt.  When we arrived we were actually greeted, so it was looking up already, and so pretty outside...But as we entered, the musty old smell was dreadful.  We seem to be the only guests, so nothing is open, we can't get a drink or a meal.  The room is dated to say the least, much too hot, although we managed to turn the heating off.  The old musty smell is everywhere, and unfortunately we have booked for two nights!!!  It is on a main road, so traffic noise is dreadful all night long.  with window closed, better, but you can still hear it and then it is much too hot, and this musty smell, is just yuk!!  Let me find some positives.  Pretty on the outside, wifi works very well, breakfast was  ok.  If it wasn't for the smell of the place, it wouldn't be too bad,  hmmm yes it would, too hot, too noisy, too smelly.  The two men who I presume run the place were friendly, nothing wrong there,  Oh I forget to mention the price, this is the most expensive place we have stayed since we started our tour three weeks ago, and we have stayed at amazing places for much less, so this scores really badly.  Sorry to say, it needs a complete overhaul and a good airing to get rid of the smell.  Really sorry to do this.

It may have been good once

This was not good for us
I really don’t like writing a review like this, in fact I think it is the only second one I have ever written. Not a pleasant place to stay. Everything needs to be up graded, from the old bedding and towels, to the decoration to having a reception area etc.
Add that to having to change rooms because of, I cannot write the reason here, sufficient to say it was not good.
Breakfast was delivered to you on a plate, no choice at all. That is not how it’s done these days. It was conveniently situated for us, but many people would not like the very busy road and road junction the hotel fronted. The noise started from early morning.
It was so over priced for what you got. This place needs a total rethink
