I seldom leave a review but Hotel Lavasoa was such a special place to stay. The views are as amazing as they get and everything about the place is comfortable. The location is perfect. Perhaps more importantly, the staff made everything unforgettable. They truly go out of their way to not only make your stay unforgettable, but they also make you feel so welcome. They are really genuine and can help you with anything you need. Ft. Dauphin is so amazing, and I know exactly where I will be staying the next time I come! Thank you for everything, Marco.

An Incredible Place

The views are superb and the breakfast was really good. We were delayed by a day because of Air Madagascar and so Jeannot gave us back one nights rate. The trip to Pirate Camp was an adventure and the food there was great especially the fish.

Lovely helpful staff

My partner and I arrived late in the evening with no reservation and very exhausted from a long day of travel. Anne, the owner, greeted us right away and showed us to our bungalow, she also offered us drinks and had them sent to our room. We didn't realize just how amazing it was until we woke up in the morning - magnificent views of the bay, comfy seating and hammock on the deck - such a wonderful surprise. Not only that, but the bungalow itself on the inside was spacious with beautiful wood floors, a great bed, and excellent hot shower. It was the perfect spot to spend some time relaxing, a little oasis in fort dauphin. **also there were two restaurants within easy walkin distance - Chez George and Tangiloo (part of a hotel).

Lovely stay

I have reviewed this hotel in the past.  However, I have been back.  Just a few notes:  Plan on the comforts of a hostel--basic.  Water supply is a major issue so be prepared for accepting a few bucket showers with cold water.  Breakfast is reported to be at 7 AM but plan more for 7:30.  If you want coffee earlier then just walk the 5 minutes down the road to the Talinjoo Hotel.  WiFi available near the kitchen but spotty.  They do have combination safes in each room--good, because the cheap Chinese padlocks on the doors are less than tough.  However, the guard is vigilant.

The hidden treasure offered by the Lavasoa Hotel is their package trip to the Nahampoana Reserve to see three species of lemurs up close, followed by a rough 4WD trip to the incredibly pristine beach of Lokaro.  The bungalows there are basic.  However, their chef is fabulous!

Fantastic view of Libanona Beach

This is the best view of Libanona beach of Fort Dauphin that you can get.  Anne is a great host.  The accomodations are great.  There is a combination safe in the bungalow.  I would ask for bungalow #6 as it has the best view.  Breakfast is included.  Other meals can be had at the Talinjoo Hotel about a 5 minute walk away.  The beach is only a 10 minute walk down the hill.  Ft Dauphin town is about a 20 minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride away.

Incredible verandah view of Libanona beach

The hotel is really nice and view is amazing.
But when we get to bed, we have been bitten by a lot of bed bugs. So many that we have been obliged to get out of the hotel at 11.00pm and find another one. Fortunately the Talinjoo is just next door so we went there.
Also, there were a lot of cockroach everywhere in the room (and big ones).
