the rooms were full of mosquitos , the bed sheets were dirty , the bathroom water pressure was good and we had some hot water.
The lovely lady in the kitchen did her best to deliver breakfast for 18 people , even though we were going in and out the kitchen to help her out

I booked this over-priced backpackers based on Free wifi. There is NO wifi. It's along a dusty, remote road (much better places down the street, closer to shopping and transport). The kitchen is filthy, with critters crawling over food left out. The staff is indifferent to rude. I got an IOU from Tuonga (they didn't have change for me). The next day she literally scratched out the amount and tried to change it (I fought back!). There were two other guests, both elderly men in their 60s (US and Norway) who were also disappointed. Tuonga literally called one of them a liar for telling me there was no wifi (which there clearly wasn't!). Rude, rude people and a cruddy place.

Skip it!

I was robbed here and it turns out that the thief had duplicate keys to the rooms.  Lost a laptop, tablet, 2 phones.  Filled police report and owner didn't seem to care about my loss.  My advice, stay away from this lodge.

This Guesthouse is ideally situated in a good and quiet area of Lilongwe. staff very helpful in my opinion but do not solve problems. Wifi service is chargeable and very bad.
my room: Mara 12n,  cost me $ 20 or the equivalent in local currency: 14,600 Kwacha, but the manager tried to charge a higher amount.

I stayed here for a night in early February 2016. Lilongwe is very well spread out but the guest house, in Area 3 of the city, was less than ten minutes away from the bus station. Still, it felt like in a different world altogether. The houses in this area are bigger and so are their lawns and gardens. The golf course is nearby and I surmised that it was a posh area. The guesthouse itself is a big bungalow with about 23 rooms and a large garden.

I had problems at check-in – Banet, the young man manning the reception was new – and it took almost an hour before I was given a room. I had to change rooms later because there was no water from the sink tap. Nor could I flush the toilet or turn on the shower. We tried the next room – same problems – and finally settled on the room after that. As Banet was going to cook for some guests, I managed to use the kitchen so I made some soup for my late lunch.

I went out for a walk around the neighbourhood at 5 p.m. and noted that the neighbourhood was indeed affluent. I met with the owners and had to endure their explanation about my booking – about them having to pay Booking.com and that I must pay an additional amount so that they could forward it to Booking.com. Funnily enough, a few days later when I was back home, Booking.com emailed me to say that the guesthouse had notified them that I did not arrive. Seriously??? I emailed back Booking.com to say that not only did I check in and was made to wait an hour before I was given a room, I even met the owners later that afternoon. Booking.com then apologised on behalf of the guesthouse and informed it would share my response with the property.)

I can only conclude that the owners are lying cheaters who pocketed the additional amount I paid to them instead of forwarding it to Booking.com as they alleged.

There's something fishy about the owners

First time in Africa, and first time in Malawi. I've only stayed for a night here before I moved to Blantyre. 

Longonot Lodge basically suits your basic needs. It has aircon for hot season but unfortunately no heater for winter, but actually the room is quite warm. The bed has mosquito net to make sure you're safe from those nasty mosquito or other bugs when you sleep. Oh, and the bathroom is squeaky clean :)

I stayed in 14,000 Mk room (1 USD = 400 Mk). And they also served dinner around 1,500 Mk.

The service itself is quite good. It has spacious common room.

The lodge itself is very quite at night, and very secure. It has electric fence around, and also security guard will secure the area at night.

P.s. Make sure you pay straight to the owner. (this is general tip for every guesthouse/lodge in Africa I guess, because there still a lot of poor people. A friend of mine paid for a week stay to a staff and the staff was just ran away taking the money. Or you could pay to a staff, but maybe for once a day, not with a huge amount of money at once)
