What a great hostel! The staff were super friendly and accommodating and offered recommendations for food and nightlife. The 24hr bike rental was great and the free bike tour was a great way to explore Barcelona for the first time! The hostel offer a range of activities run by the staff - free pasta night, free sangria night and bar crawl! The facilities were always clean and tidy and dorms offered some privacy with curtain for each bed bunk. The rooftop was a great spot to just chill and kickback. The location wasn’t in the city centre but the walk/bike ride in was a great way to get about. Would definitely recommend and stay here again next time I visit Barcelona.

Bike riding is the best way to explore Barcelona!

It's fairly cheap and but I thought there would be more people, well it's okay it's cool no worries. The beds are nice and chilly but the living room is a bit hot, well so is Malaysia, but basically it's a cool place to maybe spend the night. Walking distance to the train (KTM) station which is really nice 

It's okay but...

The lady on reception was friendly but as the whole place is run by volunteers the check in was very slow. 
As we were checking out the owner had the cheek to ask me if we were leaving because it was approaching 11am (it was 10:50, 10 mins before check out) and told me we would have to pay for another day if we weren't out on time. Our bags were packed and we were completely ready to leave. I've never known a hostel to be so forceful. 
We left our bags there for a couple hours and when we returned to very quickly just grab our bags and leave, the door had been locked. It was 1pm. Why was The door locked? They advertise that they lock the door at 10pm. 
When we finally got inside we were told off for wearing our shoes up the stairs. The floor is lino and we were literally grabbing our bags and leaving. Again, I stress, an extremely anal owner. 
To top it off, though not strictly the hostels fault, the room was very very hot. We booked the fan dorm (not the AC dorm as it is cheaper) but the fans do not reach every bed and hence it was impossible to sleep.
It did not have the laid back atmosphere I'd hoped for.

Condescending owner. Distinctly average hostel

We booked a private room through the hostelworld app. It does not say that the private twin room is only fenced off from the dorm by a curtain. 

When we approached the staff member at reception we were told this is something the owner has to deal with but they're not often around. Emailed the owner and got one of the rudest responses back and refused a refund. I understand no refund being given, but at least be courteous to the customer. 

Staff at the counter are backpackers as well, and although they are friendly they have no knowledge of Ipoh or the rest of Malaysia. 

If you are going for the dorm, I'm sure it's okay albeit hot with ill equipped and uninformed staff. 

There are better places in Ipoh for a couple of extra bucks. 

Do Not Book Private Room

After a month in Malaysia, this hotel was my worst choice. Second time I used Hostelworld to book, and there way to "hide" informations like web selling stuff is for me: " A never again"
On this one the hiding was the mention that the double room I was renting was a (2) uncomfortable beds behind curtains at the end of a 16 beds dorm with share bathroom situated at the far end on the balcony. Also next the loud used luckers, the outside banging door, the office and TV sitting area. Yes! All in one room.(like hospital emergency) 
On the other side The young lady was kind enough to provide me of a night lamp, a towel (not usely provide), a small lamp and a fan. After my first night without sleep and getting a neck problem turning around and around who became such a strong headache that I had to run to the toilet; Here also the lady was nice enough to refund me 3 nights on 5, so I could go back to Kuala Lumpur for my comfortable ensuite room and at a lower price. Sorry guys! I stayed in Hostels for 20 years...But this is nothing close to be call a private room, when you have people poking there head between the curtain's crack..I suggest you change the name or the way.
