The staff at My Place Guesthouse were so accommodating, welcoming and friendly. We had so many questions all the time and they helped us get around Okinawa very easily! The atmosphere is really cool which makes it fun and easy to make friends. The perfect hostel for enjoying your time in Okinawa in a budget!!

Friendly staff and great atmosphere!

Luckily, we stayed here for just one night but positives first.

The staff was really friendly and helpful. The room had an AC and the place is safe.

On the other hand, as soon as you enter the building you can smell they toilets. It's disgusting. The whole place is worn down. The room looked terrible. Our room smelled like pickles. At least there were no bedbugs but we were so afraid that they might have that we did not sleep well. The building is also really noisy. We recommend that the owner and staff start to clean the whole place immediately instead of hanging around because it's so needed! 
We can not understand why this place is so good rated. Just avoid it.

Worn down guesthouse

Stayed one night. Took an aircon room for 45 Ringgits (fan room was 30 Ringgits). The aircon was great, and is a new modern split set type. But the room is very basic. Wooden walls, and only a very tiny set of shelves to put anything on. There was nothing except a bottom cover sheet on the bed but the guy gave me a blanket after requesting an upper sheet. The bed was fairly hard and the pillow hard and lumpy as well. 

Facilities are all shared and downstairs. Cold water shower only but pressure was good. Shoes not allowed in the house which is annoying. The wash basin for cleaning your teeth is very tiny. An upgrade to a larger bowl would be welcome. Wifi worked well.
Checkout is 10am. If I had known this in advance I would never have stayed here. That is way too early. Other places in Malaysia are mostly 12 noon, so why so early here?

Overall it is survivable, but too many negatives that should be addressed.

Very basic accommodation

I have been here 3 times. Every time they have been very welcoming (one time i got there at 1 AM). The 2nd i stayed there they already remembered me. Very nice people that will help you with any information you need. The beds are clean. The wifi is good.

Very good place for a short stop

The place is Ok for backpackers, for a night to be spent on the way to somewhere else. The place has got some character, old, but not as shabby as some others in KB, and it is well looked after. Breakfast with tea/coffee and toast with jam is offered as free complimentary on Booking.com but I guess is included always. Location is good, with Chinese restaurants and food court, bus station and market/supermarkets within walking distance. Staff was friendly. Better splash out on an air-conditioned room!
