First off, let me start by pointing out that the SOHO City Hotel is sometimes listed on booking sites as OYO Rooms Jalan Petaling or Le Hotel Chinatown. It is located right in the middle of the busy Petaling St markets. 

I don’t know where the pictures of the rooms come from, but they are certainly not from this place. The reality, is the rooms are run down, dirty, and falling apart. 

My room had an old single bed (not the double I booked) just propped up against the wall. A shared bathroom with a broken door lock that was in very shabby condition. On my arrival the previous occupant had left a lovely surprise in the toilet. It certainly added to the already overpowering odor of stale cigarettes in the cramped, windowless room. 

Staff were a mixed bag. The male staff seemed friendly and helpful enough, but one of the female staff I dealt with was pretty rude when I asked to amend my booking. Overall, they are not very welcoming. 

On the plus side, the Wi-Fi is fairly fast and reliable. There is a common room area on the first floor which is not a bad place to chill out, but I chose not to eat the breakfast there. 

There are many equally priced cheap hostels in Chinatown, so do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. This place is one to avoid.

Avoid this run down dump

My first room, it was noisy because of the AC. The AC make a loud voice and it couldn't be fixed. So i asked new room, they offered us to other room but it was horrible. This room is messy, the bed isn't clean with a messy cover, full of trashes, and dirty towel. I guess the guests just checked out from there and they didn't clean it again. Then for second time i asked to change my room again. The third room is ok, but toilet is dirty. We decided to stopped complaining because in the end we just use it for sleep.

Ugh!

Please dont go there!!! Is disgusting. Snot (mocus) and chewing gum in the walls.
Dirty, vert dirty. The breakfast is under every expectation as the hotel imself.
We arrive at Night so we couldn't go to another place.
Please make yourself a favor and dont go there.

Worst hotel ever!

Good location, literally on petaling market street, and really cheap at £9 with breakfast included, although we didn't hear anything about breakfast? Room was average, clean enough, bathroom wasn't the nicest and the water stopped working one evening. Small TV with limited channels. Not many restaurants around. Really close to bus and train stations so made exploring the city convenient and easy. 

Cheap and cheerfulish

Kl is full of overpriced accommodation.  This place is priced just right. 
Don't expect 5 star.
The rooms are clean but a bit tatty.  Beds are all sprung and super comfortable.  No noise at night despite the central location.
All rooms have wifi but it's a bit unreliable.
Breakfast is just toast but there a few tables and some kitchen bits so you can make cereal or coffee.
The staff here are amazing.  So polite and helpful.  Compared to so many low end places in KL, Soho City just feels friendly and welcoming.
Special thank you to Max and the front desk staff.  They are all incredible.

Love this place

Two pillows and a locker and that’s it. No towel, no toilet paper (despite my many requests).
Receptionist said owners wanted to sell, thus no incentive to please the guests nor spend money on maintenance. Whole place has gone downhill - many things do not function well or not at all, e.g. the aircon, fan in toilet, toilet. And no window nor vent to circulate fresh air..
Security is also very lax as I discovered one time, when I left there was nobody at the front desk and upon returning several hours later, there still was nobody there.
Oh and air cons are shut off from 11am to 7pm (when you needed it most) to save money.
Also gone are the kitchen and free breakfast.
Sad as it would have been a good contender against the other bad hostels around.
