I love to stay here but I can't give them 5 mark.. It quite comfortable..  But quiet different from photos. I can't say it clean but I also can't stay it dirty.. Shower work very well,  but door cant be close.. For short vacation.. Yes this is the place.. It's located by heart of Kuala Lumpur.. N we can see central Market by the window.. Staff also very kind.. N it's cool.. I'm a Muslim girl..  So I have to pray outside my room.. coz the room is not too big.. 

Quite Good

Location is very good near China town and bus station. In front of hotel there is local market. Hotel is basic with no windows in rooms but price is cheap. There is station for free bus nearby so you can very easy explore the city.

Great location

I have stayed at the Matahari for several years, usually for only a couple of days. Bit basic but ideally situated.
I stayed on three occasions in September / October, on the first one for two nights I was disappointed, 
No toilet paper and no towels in the room, often no staff about and cigarette ash in indoor area.
Second visit for one night I noticed a change, a Finnish guy was in the reception and towels back in the room.
On my last stay for two nights the Finnish guy was still there and toilet paper and towels back too.

There is a crazy girl that does the check in the evening (she was there on Friday August 10th 2018). She screams in the hall. She is aggressive, unfriendly.

You can here people in the rooms because the walls are very thin and people just don't care about watching videos on their smartphone at 2am without headset. Also the girl from the hotel and other people don't care about your sleep. They speak loudly, they never learnt to whisper, to tiptoe, to close the doors gently during the night. All this happened in the middle of the night so it was impossible to sleep more than 2 hours... 

Also, people smoke inside the hotel and you can definitly smell it.

When I asked the girl if she could do less noise because I was sleeping, and I asked very nicely, with diplomacy, I just got a "it is not my mistake" and she disappeared. 

The place could be nice if there were some basic rules at night and if the establishment fires that crazy girl  but I highly recommand to avoid this place, even for one night.

Very bad. I highly recommand to find another placen even for one night!

Arrived at the street and first couldnt find it. Asked a store close by and got the answer I think its closed... Soon after i found it. Reception is on the rd floor and so are the single rooms. Apparently i booked a single room, so no aircon - but i got a ventilator from the front desk.The front desk are young people and pretty nice. They asked mea couple of times about my magnet card. Single rooms get there private magnet card to open te front room, dorms doesnt. I stayed for 10 days. The room was never cleaned - not even when they cleaned the building for pests like insects. The breakfast included (not for the dorms) was toast and butter. No drinkingwater is provided for free, but you can by it retty cheap at the store next door. Plenty of food and shops in the area, everything is walkable and if not the LTR + MTR are a few meters away.

Bargain

Central location. 
Room with no window had no fan or AC, but was still alright for the price.
Only one staff member, which seem to be there at all time, and yet very friendly and helpful.
Kitchen is dirty and missing a lot. Even make a cup of tea was hard..

Nice for a night

The room consisted of three mattress on the floor and there were bedbugs in my mattresses and the one of my room-mate as well. And it's not a small invasion either cause I actually carried the little bugs away with me in my backpack which was standing next to the bed. When I told the guy at the reception, he simply did not care, said it's the travellers' fault for bringing them and that the hostel cannot do anything about it. Moreover, this guy was really unfriendly, not helpful, clearly making fun of travellers. Toilets and bathroom were really not clean.

Bedbugs and they really do not care about it

We booked this "hotel" 5 days in advance. We arrived and the place was overbooked. They didn't have our room. After 10' of discussion, we discovered that they had 2 single rooms and we had to insist that they should have given them to us, at the same price. They didn't bother to send us an email to tell us about the overbooking. They don't care.
- the room is like a prison. No windows, always dark, a bed on the floor, that's all.
- toilets always wet, and always without toilet paper.
- it's impossible to sleep since the walls are made of paper, and when someone close the door it's like having an earthquake right in front of you.
- Bedbugs on the sofa at the reception. The staff didn't warn me, it was another guy that told me not to sit there. The same with another girl, she sat down and the staff was laughing. I had to tell her not to sit there!
- breakfast included? It's ridiculous! The breakfast was a couple of old slices of bread thrown on the dirty table, a piece of butter, and a jar of jam with some spoon inside. Everything open on the table of course. the place is dirty, we had to go out for breakfast even if we already paid for it.
- the staff simply don't care.
It's the worst place I've seen in 5 months in Asia!

Stay away from this place + bed bugs and they don't care

Needed a place to stay for a couple of nights around new year. Had to stay there since most places were full. Can't really say I'm convinced about the place. Building is nothing special, cleanliness is ok, staff ok, prince decent but room really really nothing special. Didn't have a bad stay but I'm sure you can find better value somewhere else.

Average

Arrived 4 nights ago and another 5 nights to go.
Prices vary; dorm 18myr a night; I decided on a single room just to catch up on sleep after taking 2 days to get here... and I'm quite happy to stay in that room...... 35myr a night.
All rooms are shared bathrooms; covered over three floors with the reception and communal area being on the third floor.
There's an elevator to save your legs on the stairs if needed.
Make your own toast and coffee/tea for breakfast. Jam/spread and butter supplied.
Communal fridge also..... 
Smoking terrace if needed.
For the price and being very central you can't complain about anything; the basics are here.
Clean bedding and areas.
Bathrooms are hot water showers.
Location is great; Pasar Seni bus terminal has the purple line bus route to Bukit Bintang (free GoKL bus; coloured pink)... leave every 5 minutes.and takesm10 minutes to get to Bukit Bintang.
From.Bukit Bintang you can alight the purple route bus and wait.for another GoKL bus to take you up to twin towers... the information on the reception are Wil give more information.
5 minute Walk will get you to Merdeka Square and then onto the botanical gardens parks and museums walking route...they say 5 hours to.walk around that area...
Overall, I'm happy being here at Matahari.
The lad who manages the place right now is great.
Easy to recommend anyone to stay here... right on the doorstep of chinatown.
