TERRIBLE SO TERRIBLE!! How this resort tagged as 4 stars? Maybe 10 yrs back was 4 stars but for 2023 don’t deserve any star. ROOM, SERVICE, FACILITIES, EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE!! You only can see the reception staff during check-in and after u got the room keys, they missing and any issues raise like “non of my business”. Everything must pay even request change room due to cleanliness issue ALSO MUST PAY! The reason got government group will be check-in but till c/out I didn’t see any group arrival. THE BEST PART WAS THE ROOM OCCUPIED BY THE STAFF TO SLEEP! WTF!! They just think about money instead of taking care the current guests which is PAY FOR THE SERVICE. Snorkelling time delayed without any notice, BUFFET DINNER FIRST COME FIRST SERVE, really?? Don’t be fooled with BBQ dinner, It's not really BBQ, just grilled food. The restaurant and food preparation really dirty! Nothing special to stay here, its a nightmare for us and others group. The management claim got 16 yrs experience in hotel industry but they don’t know how to handle guests satisfaction, they only know how to make money only. I don't influence you’ll not to stay here but think more than 10 times to stay here. PLS THINK CAREFULLY OR COME BACK FROM VACATION WITH FULL OF STRESS AND NIGHTMARES!!

Nightmare 

First of all, this is one of the best budget beach vacation I've booked. Besides the pleasant company, I think I owe it to the resort staff and facilities too. 

Pre-trip, Kimi have been friendly and helpful in managing the booking. The speedboat transfer is from the Redang Mutiara Check-in Jetty in Merang (see photos), not to be confused with Marang Jetty or the main Merang Jetty. If you are taking a bus from KL, you can stop at Kuala Terengganu and take a shuttle or taxi to Merang. From there, the resort staff fetched us to the check-in jetty which is about 5 mins by car from Merang Jetty. 

The speedboat transfer is about 45 minutes. I loved the ride and would choose it over the 1-1.5 hour ferry ride from Syahbandar Jetty anytime. 

Upon our arrival to Mutiara Resort, the staff offered to carry our luggages by motor cart. My first impression of the area was that the beach was pristine and the water was very blue. Despite booking the vacation in monsoon October, the weather remained kind to us, only raining at nights.

Check-in was fast. We got the quad room for the two of us. The a/c was cold enough to beat the outdoor heat. For the quad room, it was a chalet with an attached bathroom. Bear in mind that there is no hot water and don't expect high pressure water. 

We went for the snorkelling trip after check in, lunch and a stroll on the beach. It was amazing, saw a lot of fishes and corals. The boatmen brought along fish food to attract the school. After the snorkelling trip, we went for the additional turtle point trip. We got to swim with some turtles upclose and feed them. Adorable animals. 

After that, they brought us to an off shore sand bar nearby for sunset. Great views from there. 

On the second day, we woke up early to catch the sunrise and chill on a picnic blanket on the beach. After breakfast, we built an "epic" sandcastle. We went for the noon snorkelling trip after lunch. The staff offered to bring us to the nearby island town which we agreed to. We took a short stroll around there, checked out the health clinic there and went back to the resort. In the late afternoon, we did our PADI refresher course with RODC the dive center at Mutiara Resort. Zul, our dive master was chill and friendly. We had a great time doing the refresher course and checking out the house reef. Saw some clownfish in their anemone too. We swam around and chatted with some of the staff in the evening until sunset.

On the last day, we hung around at the dive center until our speedboat arrives. Check out was fast and easy. 
 
For the price we paid, this vacation was worth every penny. We spent most our times outdoor enjoying the ocean and beach. Any shortcomings of the room itself were overcome by the friendly staff, amazing beach, connectivity to nature, awesome snorkelling trips and excellent diving experience. P.s. kudos for delicious dessert (bubur pulut and doughnuts)

The whole trip only coat the both of us RM 680+90+300 (3D2N full board off-peak+additional turtle point trip+PADI refresher course). Hands down worth every dollar.

Pros: 
1. Amazing, quiet beach
2. Blue ass water
3. Sunrise views
4. Down to earth facilities eg. beach volleyball
5. Full board includes 4 decent meals a day, which saves us the hassle of deciding what to eat every meal
6. Friendly and helpful staff

Cons:
1. Okay-okay room facilities (sheets, air-cond cleanliness, water pressure, no heated water)
2. Limited food choices
3. Islanders smoke too much

Facilities:

Great place for a budget island vacation

The room was acceptable, clean bedsheets/pillows & toilet. The beach was fantastic.  The kids spent most of day time on the beach (except when we were snorkeling). We enjoyed the snorkeling trips (3x) as part of the packages. Food was ok, they provided additional dish when we informed them on our dietary requirement. The resort staffs were friendly and helpful.

Awesome family time

Private beach. We stayed on the front beach chalet. You can swim from morning to evening. Early check in around 10am. Getting boat from Merang jetty. After check in rental a life jacket and snorkeling gear for RM20. All the activity and rules was drop down on the white board.

Room was small but enough for 4 of us. 2 queen beds and basic toilet amenities. Got shower but water runs very slow. We just used the pipe directly. Toilet was clean (got a little ants but that no worries). Got two plug for charging your phone or any electrical used. No TV.

Food was limited. They will served you a set choice of chicken, fish, simple vege and fruits. On the first day lunch we had chicken curry, fried fish, simple vege. On dinner we had tomyum chicken, fish and vege. For tea, we had some black glutinous porridge and kuih. On the second day on breakfast, we had fried noodles, sausage,nuggets and baked beans. Lunch with chicken korma, fish and vege. On tea time we had keropok lemon.  On dinner we had BBQ (sausages, squids ball, bbq chicken and fish and fried rice. The next day we had nasi lemak. Bread, cold and hot drinks available 24hours unlimited refill. You can used their toaster too. They had KAYA spread and butter. They will refill their coffee, tea and sugar but on DIY basis.

On the 1st we went snorkeling after having lunch. After that take your tea time, then you can go swimming on the beach until dinner. The next day the water was quite tough. So if this happen maybe your snorkeling will be replace with jungle trekking.  We also went to swim with turtle. You need to pay RM35 per head for this package.

After dinner, there was not much activity you can do.Maybe you can just strolling or chatting around the beach. There was activity like beach volley ball,chess and other games that you can play there. There was also a small kiosk to sell drinks, mineral water,MAGGI, junk foods and others.

Asking for me, this resort was value for your money. I honestly read previous review about this property. For me, room was ok, toilet was ok, of course there were insects but just a little only. What my consider, maybe the food will be need to improve a bit. If your expectation was high and need a super comfy room and great amenities you should book another resort with higher rates.

Value For Money-Not really bad actually.

when I was there it was raining one Malay guy staff help give us umbrella.it was a sweet guy. thank bro!But the worst accommodation. The room is so dirty and they were a lot of dead insects on the floor, behind the curtain, in the toilet, on the wall.

nice place

A few days ago we went to Redang Mutiara Beach Resort from Kl for 3 days 2 night total 4 person.

- Food - Very minimum food,no taste no variety ,important things is no restaurant in redang Mutiara itself also you can’t buy outside food because nothing there only beach sea and chalet. 👎🏻
- 
- Rooms - Very congested, not so clean ,don't have hot water, water is so slow, leaking from the ac. No wifi also. No electricity from morning to lunch time & after lunch til sunset.😏
- 
- Beach is nice clean water ,full of white sand, good scenery,good for relaxation.🌸

Please don't choose this resort until they upgrade their servis & facilities . better choose other resort or villa near there. ✌🏼

A bit disappointed holiday

Was touched by the dedicated staff who worked under the rain & late night to get ready the room for arrange us to a safer chalet after heavy rain for 2 nights despite they also tired.

The beach is exquisite, what a shame they don't keep it clean.  It is filthy!  Covered in rubbish, food packages, bottles, plastic.  So sad to see that they do not appreciate what they have as with a little time and effort it could be very nice.  The cabins are an acceptable size, but filthy.  We found coiled up black worms in the beds as well as ants, and cockroaches on the walls and a toad in the bathroom.  The staff are rubbish, the food is appalling!  The literally serve the foulest food and yet you can smell a very good aroma coming from the kitchen.... then they have the audacity to bring out a very varied and tasty looking meal for the staff and eat it in the same dining room where paying guests are being served utter rubbish. They ran out of bread for breakfast which was all my children were eating, and then we saw them pull out a fresh loaf for themselves a few minutes later. It's the worst place I've ever been in my life.

Worst service and extremely dirty

Pros:
 1. Extremely beautiful beach area. 
2. Good for photography.
3. The beds are covered with 5* hotel quality linens.
4. If going to the marine park, the time given by the resort is longer than others, you can spend your time  happily there.
5. The canteen is clean. Food served are good.
6.the boat boys are nice, they are helpful and friendly.

cons:
1 we came during upgrading construction, everything dangerous are scattered every where considering this is a resort. no safe practice.
2.some staff especially at the canteen are not friendly at all, they treat the place like boarding school or something, the foods cover can't be opened until the time although it is already there.
3. my room leaking during the raining time. we complained but no actions taken.
4.beaches nice but dirty, full of trash,  some even dangerous trash. we help to pick some in our area.. quite a lot. considering this is a private area. 


Beautiful private beach but needs improvement.

We went to this vacation on a weekdays. There is not so many people. More to the private beach. The girl receptionist is friendly except the other workers. We take full-board package which is including breakfast, hi tea, lunch, dinner (BBQ) and also snorkelling.

Food- All the food is delicious as a ‘kampung style’ food. We really love the food, it suits with our taste likes. For the bbq, its only provide hot dog, chicken wings and fish ball. Not so b-b-q. We not expecting a fancy dinner but it should be more selection of food at the buffet line. 

Room - The room is nice. Just beside the beach. But the problem is, there are too many ants in the room. Dont ever bring food to the room unless plain water. The ants is everywhere (red ants). Bedsheets full of stain, the toilet not clean but its okey. 

Snorkelling- We expecting to have a nice snorkelling which is to have a nice coral view, fish and all. But they only bring us at 2 point of snorkelling due to heavy wave. The coral is not even nice (the place that they bring us). But they bring us to the turtle point, that was amazing than other point haha. Second day, they bring us to marine park snorkelling. Too crowded and the view not even nice. Too strict to wear full set of snorkelling which is life jacket and all. The point is not even deep so that we are not wearing any life jacket. 

Beach - The beach is amazing! For those who looking forward to have a nice view, private beach and all. I can suggest to stay at here. 

Location - Redang mutiara beach resort is not located at long beach. It’s doesn’t have any mini shop or mini restaurant to chill here. If you looking forward to have a chill restaurant and mini shop, you can stay at long beach island. At mutiara, you have to bring along mineral bottle and snacks by your own self. As i said, its a private beach and not so many people are staying here. Different with long beach, long beach island is very crowded and so many people. 

Activities - The beach is absolutely amazing! You can chill and relaxing at the beach. They also provide hiking service and have to pay Rm10 per person. Veryyy tired but worth it! Its take 45 minute to go up and 10 minute to go down 😂 For those who think Rm10 is expensive, you can go by yourself. 

We are not expecting to have a fancy vacation. Its just worth with our paying. Everything was fine and wonderful. We just chill at the beach and not even stay at the room (only at night). For those who expecting to have a good stay, you can stay at long beach island and pay for 4 star hotel. Dont expect to pay less and you can get as what u expect.
 

Tips- Bring bottle and snacks. Download a movie to watch at night. Bring snorkelling equipment or otherwise you have to pay for the equipment.
