We stayed here years ago when the resort was run by a German manager.  Badly maintained.  Small pool fenced off with plastic netting and wooden gate.  The paths through the resort are tripping hazard.  To whole is dirty and rundown.  Much better accommodation elsewhere for the same money.

Dreadful

Visit this resort for family vacation. 
Pro’s:

1. Scenic beach view and hotspot location. We got the seaview room. Easy access to the beach as its just infront of your room. Resort surrounded by restaurant, pubs and shops. 

2. Got little space of car park if you rent a car. 

3. If you enjoy evening and late night entetainment, our room just beside an entetainment outlet. 

Con’s:

1. A lot of stray dog along the beach and resort area. Complain to the resort and local council but no action. 

2. A rundown room although got beatifull view. Room not maintain, just have basic and cheap amenities. Bench infront of the room broken. Mattres and pillow its high tine to be change to a new one. 

3. No houskeeping to tidy up and change yr towel everyday. We stayed for 3 nite but nobody show up to do the cleaning. 

4. Staff is ok but they need some basic training. 

5. Definately the management only focus on the revenue but not to maintain the resort especially the room and landscape. Too bad. 

Overall if you dont mind the condition of the room, just go ahead. 

Will think again to revisit Mali Mali Langkawi. 

For the adventurous

It was amazing location in heart of Langkawi and easy access to pantai cenang area. Very clean beach. The rooms size is very small. The swimming poll is tiny and unusable. Clean beach and friendly staff.

AVOID AVOID AVOID.

As other people have mentioned, the staff (in particular the receptionist) are extremely rude. I had one of their staff members lie and manipulate my husband into giving them money as if i had told them to charge him. When he saw me after with no drink or anything what he assumed it was for i confronted the staff where i was taken to speak to the receptionist. The staff are extremely rude and disrespectful, ignored me as i'm speaking, start speaking over me amongst each other, start making up rules on the stop to support them trying to keep the money, at one point they even claimed i had broken a seat and therefore had to pay for it. They are bad people that try to scare tourist into letting them keep their money. They were claiming they would call the police on me! I have been in this area and have a good idea how the culture and the police and so welcomed them to do so. Obviously they didn't, but i fear for other tourist that wouldn't know as much/ become intimidated and end up getting ripped off. 

The Kalut bar is nice which is a shame (but much more expensive than others), though there are plenty of nicer bars with better staff you can give your money to! 

Avoid Kalut, Mali Mali, and their guys renting beach chairs on the beach. They'll claim you broke it!

Horrible staff.

I have visited close to 50 countries. I have never written a bad review. But I feel any future customers should be warned that this place is a total dump. The pictures I saw on line when I was booking were a total con job. The front door is held together with masking tape. The WiFi doesn’t work. There were people at the table just 10 feet from  my door, not guests, that had loud music and a party until 3 am. The beach is beautiful but staying here is very ugly.

The worst

The hotel itself was not anything spectacular. The rooms were small but had all the necessities (minus a room safe). The room and bedding did not look very clean. If you’re a light sleeper this is not the place for you as you can hear neighbors and music playing until the early hours of the morning. The pros of this hotel are location, location, location! The hotel is right on the beach! In the evenings there is music and a fire show right by the beach bar. There are tons of shops and restaurants in walking distance which is very convenient.

Ok hotel in a great location.

The beach bar Kalutbar has a great view across the beach and the sea. It serves the strongest cocktails ever, but the taste isn’t so great! The resort behind looked absolutely rancid. I’d avoid it like the plague. 

Cocktails on the beach

The beach bar from the road is not obvious. Its next to Happy Happy Cenang Seafood Restaurant.
The bar staff knew my friend but they were good to keep supplying the drinks and food since we spent a good 7 hours there.
Nice views out to sea, and at sunset too.
Just before the sunset a lot of bean bags spread along the beach section and later in the night there were entertainers with flame throwing to add a little excitement.
Good choice of drinks, the boys are good at the cocktails.
No dispute over the bill.
Music choice is good.
Only draw back is the one toilet to be used by ladies and gents and by the end of the night its a bit damp in there!!!!
The drinks are well priced.
Enjoyed the casual nature of the bar, owner and staff.

Mali Mali -Nice place to spend a Saturday afternoon with friends

The hotel image from the beach was nice and I like the set up. Beds were comfortable. Pretty clean. Lovely, funny staff. Has quite basic rooms and the beach bar is way too noisy. It’s ok until Eleven but should be playing at 2am! When it finally did finish there were non hotel guests walking through the hotel making a lot of noise. I did like the beach bar before 11pm though!
