Taking speedboat 2 Hours to reach the island. Please take note on the speedboat time as they only have very limited timing to choose. Sara is one of the host to welcome us. She is a Italian and just nice the trip we have a few Italian guest too so she keep talking with them. 
We chose the package which is inclusive all. Everyday u don’t need to think of what to eat as they will prepare for you.
Love their snorkeling excursion and we have met dolphin, sea turtle etc! 
Overall, it is a good experience and you will definitely see more compare to stay in a resort.

A home stay with local feeling

Very much enjoyed our stay at Yonder Retreats and recommend to everyone! The staff is friendly and Ali was an awesome responsive and supportive host. My boyfriend and I were visiting a friend from Maldives (she lives in Male, the capital) but wanted to experience a local island beforehand. Yonder was recommended to us by her. We're so happy to chose this place! The retreat felt like a hybrid between a hostel and a hotel. There are different visitors that you can interact with (we made friends with a Dutch couple!) during mealtimes, but everyone gets their own room, which gets cleaned every day. The common space has awesome snorkeling and beach gear you can use whenever you'd like. The island of Bodufolhudhoo itself is amazing. It's so small and cute and the locals are friendly (be sure to say 'ciao' to the little kids running around!). The visitors beach is heavenly and we felt like millionaires with our own private beach many times. Only a short swim away from the shoreline is a reef with lots of cute fishies. The excursions we took were Island Hopping, Manta Ray Snorkeling, and Sandbank BBQ dinner. All 3 were so great. Our favorite was the Sandbank BBQ dinner :) And not to miss, the food was amazing!

Big thumbs up for everything!

We just spent 9 days at yonder retreat which was much too long. Sara, the manager, and the staff try hard to make guests happy but they cannot compensate for the dreary food, rooms facing a concrete wall, and badly damaged reef.  Despite their posting, there are no working TVs, internet is spotty at best, and the dining area is super hot and uninviting.  The beach is small and shared by all guest houses on the island. The diving is quite pricey-you have to pay for the boat rental in addition to the drives. The town is very conservative.  You need to dress to walk to and from the beach.  There is no floating bar near the island as mentioned in their listing. Vegetables are a rarity.  A typical meal includes both rice and noodles and often potatoes.  Despite having the full board, we ate several meals out-sometimes in other more “happening” islands. The beds are very comfortable and the place is clean. 

We stayed at yonder retreat for nine days. It advertised great Italian food. The food consisted mainly of rice and noodles ( lunch and dinner) often with some sort of fish added to the noodles. Almost all the vegetables were boiled. Breakfast was fried French toast.
Internet was spotty.
The staff tried hard. The on site manager Sara tried to help us and she did the best she could.
The reef was fine. Took a few excursions to different islands. Made our stay better.
Not much to see on the island- few shops.
We were there 9 days. Way too long! 2 or so days would have been long enough.
I’d recommend other tropical islands rather than the Maldives.

Nice beach 🏖 Grim food

Hi everyone, we visited yonder retreat in Feb 2018, Sara the Italian hostess is based on the island full time and really made us feel welcome, thanks Sara for looking after us.
All the staff are really friendly and cool people, the retreat itself is perfect for a no frills visit to the Maldives, it's a chilled out guesthouse on a chilled out island, 40 dollars per person on the speed boat from male and your holiday begins!! I'd recommend you visit this guesthouse and island for a really relaxed holiday, if your after nightlife and lots to do I'd probably look elsewhere but for our needs it was perfect, the food is great considering this isn't a resort island and although the choices are limited we always ate up what we had, a lot of currys and rice but perfectly edible, we can't wait to go back and see the team again, I'm practicing the zombie dance for next time!! there's afew shops too you can buy drinks and food from if you get thirsty and are out and about, the guesthouse offers trips to other islands but we didn't bother as we wanted to just chill, we did go night fishing though and it was great, we caught 12 between us and ate them the next night, the Maldivian people on the island are really friendly and always say hi and wave, one lady even let us sample her homemade chilli crisps!! result!! All in all a great little guesthouse on a great little island, a must for all sunseekers wanting a chilled out holiday, you won't be disappointed, why are you still reading this and not busy booking your holiday here!!! Island paradise 

We booked all inclusive package . From pickup point to drop off everything was on time.
Sara, Coco & Sherwin are asset to yonder .We had super experience in all activities. We did nigh fishing , snorkeling , picnic island and candle light beach dinner.Yonder team is always trying to give best service to guest .

The people at Yonder are incredible! The all inclusive was great for our stay as we did the picnic island, reef snorkeling and night fishing. The last was by far our favorite but we come from fishing communities anyway and the fish were delicious!
The only suggestion for Yonder is the food. It was definitely tasty but our stay was four days long and the variety was lacking. Instead of offering everything daily, mixing it up would be a huge improvement or an ala carte menu for multiple might stays.
The room was great, the beach was well manicured, the islanders were super friendly, and the staff were some of the best we’ve experienced in our travels! Special thanks to Rishwann!!! We’ll be back!

Small island huge charm.

I would definitely recommend Yonder retreat for anyone who wants to travel to the Maldives and experience the absolute best service and the most sincere staff on a local island. Its not the 5-star high-end choice as I referred the Maldives to be, but here is all that we needed for our vacation, and close to be a luxury resort. The excursions that they're were just amazing and we got all the best service during the trip with a private boat with the "captain" and our private guide. We had the best experience of seeing about 20 dolphins in their free habitat and snorkeling with them. We also experienced mantas, stingrays, turtles and all the fishes you ever could imagine, and I have traveled the world and seen many amazing places, and this place is unforgettable!!!  If we had any special wishes or needs, they made it happen or got it fast from Male. They also helped us to arrange a few days on a 5 star resort nearby and arranged all the transports needed for us to get there and back to Male afterwards. Its the place to visit if you want to experience the "real" Maldives.

Excellent choice of Guesthouse

Without a doubt Yonder has become one of my new favourite places in world. I am not much of a writer but the hospitality, warmth and welcome; me and my partner felt at Yonder, compelled me to write this review for them. From the first enquiries to the goodbyes, Ali and his team thrived to give us the best Maldivian experience they possibly could. 

We were greeted at the airport and taken to our speedboat Ali had reserved for us. Upon our arrival to the island Bodufolhudhoo, we were greeted from the boat by the lovely Sara; and guided to Yonder Retreat. 

Rooms were clean, spacious and had a rather large en-suite wet room with western toilet. It did seem that a lot of thought had gone into the design and layout of this fine establishment. We enjoyed traditional Maldivian food, fresh fish, incredible spices and fresh fruit every day. They are very sensitive to knowing that not everyone likes spice, and so if you like spice make sure to let them know – you will not be let down. The flavours were incredible. 

I would recommend taking Mosquito spray and a wall deterrent plug but, this is of course not Yonder’s fault it is something you get in any warm country. I seemed to be bitten a lot whereas my partner was barely bothered. 

There is a private beach no more than 3-minute walk from the retreat. The beach is hidden behind some trees and so has lots of privacy. It had numerous sun beds for you to use, free of charge. There was also ample shade for those times when the heat got a bit too much. The House Reef and Coral Reef is a throw away from the beach for you to explore. 

Moving to the excursions, there was so much to choose from. As we had opted for the all inc package we had one free excursion a day from a great list. We went Snorkelling at the House Reef and Coral Reef, Night fishing, Picnic Island, Night Snorkelling. We paid extra for Manta Ray Swimming and a Visit to a Ship Wreck and Canoeing. Every excursion was worth every penny. Abdullah lead most of our activities and his passion truly brings your experience alive. I was inexperienced at Snorkelling but Abdullah helped me by giving me great advice, he made me feel safe and he made sure we got to see as much as we possibly could. 

We spent one evening at a local resort that Sara organised for us. Although the resort was a great experience we found our stay with the team at Yonder something we will cherish a lot more for years to come. We were made to feel so welcome by Ali and his team and I felt a real family feel there. I cannot wait to return to Yonder and build more memories.

In this world, nothing is perfect.
No one person is perfect, no restaurant is perfect, no country is perfect and no hotel is perfect.
It all boils down to our personal preferences and expectations.
Likewise, yonder retreat has many limitations when it comes to manpower and its facilities. Nevertheless, in my 5 days stay with them, Sara tried to perfect my experience as much as possible. She is a hardworker and she goes the extra mile to satisfy her guests (paying out from her own pocket, to top up wifi credits for other guests).
Sara is every reason you should be there. No matter how busy or stressful it can be when handling so many guests at a time, she never fail to give you a warm bright smile:D
