We loved this hotel.  Central, spacious and thoughtful rooms, helpful staff.  Amenities were plenty and the included breakfast is both delicious and massive. The rooms had details that made our stay comfortable like drinking water, safe, AC, hairdryer and soaps.

A central place to explore Bacalar from

Pleasant place to spend a few days. Gabriel on the desk was a very friendly man. Cleaning and waiting staff also very kind. Jessica looked after us well at breakfast. Breakfast was excellent with fruit, yoghurt, toast, fresh juice and a choice of three cooked menu items. 

Air con worked well. Nice balcony with hammock.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get any hot water in the shower until the fourth day when we were leaving despite numerous requests. They kept checking the boiler but nothing happened. 

The advertised ‘stunning lagoon views from every room’ were more like ‘pleasant garden views’ as we could only see a bit of the lagoon when standing on the balcony due to overgrown shrubbery and trees from the property itself. We asked to be moved to another room but it proved no better except that the bed was at least facing in the right direction so we could pile cushions on it and just about get a glimpse of the lagoon. That was a very disappointing aspect of our stay. 

The roof top and dining room views were great. There are lovely murals on the dining room walls and pleasant chill music playing all day.

In the second room, it was necessary to unplug the fridge in order to plug in the coffee pot. Fridge was barely functioning as it was and full of mini bar offerings, fine if you like that sort of fare. The only other socket had an adapter glued in place obscuring the outlet. Block out curtains on the garden aspect but no blinds on the hall side windows so hall lights shining in all night. 

Live music plays every night until varying times at the venue next door. Some nights, I quite enjoyed the bands and ear plugs are supplied if you don’t want to hear it. 

For the money, I would expect better - if hot water can’t be provided in the shower, there are inadequate sockets for the appliances supplied, you know your guests won’t enjoy any view or get a decent night’s sleep, fair enough, but don’t charge European prices.

Boutique - a euphemism for nothing works properly?

Loved this hotel, beautiful calm space with super friendly staff. Beautiful decor and setting. Would stay again and highly recommend. 

Private parking lot next to the hotel. A La carte breakfast with around 4 choices. Staff helped us to organise lagoon tour and gave lots of helpful info ahead of our stay. 

Appreciated they provided water in reusable glass pitcher in the room but would have been great if they could provide refills from the reception or communal spaces to help further minimise single use plastics

Beautiful Hotel

We recently had 7 rooms for the weekend of the eclipse. We had stayed here before, and we were sure the large group of friends and family would enjoy this hotel, and we were spot on! It is close to the town square, the public beach, great food and bars, and the little courtyard garden and pool are to die for. Delicious breakfast every morning, and a stunning rooftop deck to watch sunrises and sunset skies over the lake. This is a little slice of heaven. Every room has its own little outdoor space with a hammock, they have wonderful toiletries, and not just towels in your room but pool/beach towels at the counter. We love it here and we will return and bring friends again.

Special place, wonderful service, great location

We had a very pleasant stay for all the staff who are very attentive, but above all for the attention of Yessica who made our visit very cheerful and with great attention.

Excellent hotel and personal.

Very good and cozy hotel. Good location. Cleaning very good. Nice ala carte style breakfast. Reception very helpful. Should I revisit Bacalar I will most likely book this same hotel. Most people come from the north and return there, but if you are departing for Chetumal, it's cheapest to take a "collectivo", ie. a shared taxi opposite the ADO Bacalar station for 50 pesos/person.


Peaceful

The hotel is charming, the swimming pool is small but it deserves to be there. It is close to the city centre, and it may be too much because in the evening we had the nightclub atmosphere in the room with loud music and it lasted until 3am! hence the earplugs provided on the bedside table, the little laughs!! Breakfast is served on the plate on request. The rooms are spacious with a terrace with hammock which is nice enough to read in peace

Oh, by the way.

You should stay here if... 
1. You really value location. This place was central to the downtown and everything was within walking distance from this hotel. Very good spot for walkable food, entertainment. 
2. You really like to dance. We're around the corner from this weekend Salsa restaurant and the city center
3. You don't mind loud music. Because of #2. 
4. You don't mind some bugs. We stayed in room 5 and there were tiny ants crawling on the bathroom walls and sometimes on our things, but not in the bed. very tiny. Plus it's an outdoor facing room and all the rooms have patios so lots of exposure to the outside. You're going to see a few bugs. 
5. You enjoy aesthetically pleasing lobbies, rooftops and rooms. The boutique hotel is small yet beautiful. From the artwork in the lobby to the design of fixtures and the way it's built. Even the little toiletries are quaint and smell so nice. It's a minimalistic, Eco/nature-centric feel to the hotel. 
6. You appreciate Air Conditioning and nice water pressure.
7. Gabriel. He is a nice man. 
8. Beach towels seemed difficult to obtain while we were here. Gabriel was able to give us something for that day but we needed new towels for the next day as well and the night attendant said nothing was available and didn't offer any alternative solution.

A quaint stay in a centrally located spot

Step into Aires Bacalar and you would directly feel home! Such a friendly welcome in this cosy hotel, with beautiful mural paintings, within walking distance of the town center. We were directly given instructions and recommendations regarding beaches and restaurants nearby (they did live up to those recommendations!). Our room was nice, on the ground floor, with its own balcony and a hammock. There’s a nice terrace with more hammocks, for an afternoon nap, overlooking the laguna.

Such a friendly beautiful place

Small hotel full of charm. Small care staff. The rooms are spacious and clean with a balcony with a hammock and view of the lagoon. Very good breakfast. Massage service. Very nice terrace on the roof of or you can admire the sunset. A lush garden with a swimming pool. Very well located.
