We had a comfortable stay at Terracota in Campeche. 

Jose and Jacqueline made the check-in process smooth and easy. They gave us a corner unit which has a window and a sliding door, aside from the main door. The room is spacious and fitted with a study table, bedside tables, and shelves. 

The beddings are comfortable. There's wifi, and hot and cold shower. There's also an antojitos in front of the hotel.

Comfortable stay

I don't often give places full marks - there is always room for improvement. However, I could not find any areas that need improvement at this wonderful guesthouse.

The staff are amazing and the facilities excellent.

My ground floor room was spotlessly clean and had everything I needed for an extremely enjoyable stay. The fridge in the room was a real bonus. The bed was comfortable and the shower amazing.

The location is excellent. Not far from a really good supermarket and close enough to the tourist attractions and restaurants.

The wifi was very good and the coffee, provided free of charge between 7am and 9am, was a welcome touch.

I would especially like to thank Eric who was particularly helpful and polite during my stay.

Full marks to an excellent establishment.

Perfect in every way.

We enjoyed our stay here.  The room was clean, the bed comfortable, good wifi.  It was nice to have a  refrigerator in  the room.  The hotel is within walking distance to many attractions.  The staff was very helpful.  The nearest restaurants were about 10 min way walking.  There is also a large Soriana grocery store very close by.  We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this hotel to fellow travelers.

Our stay

I definitely recommend terracota. Rooms are very very clean and big. They have aircon, wifi, fridge. The owners are very welcome and helpful. 
The swimming pool is poor as it is not finished yet and it can be improved but it does the job!
There is a supermarket five min walking distance si you can buy your food. The owners offer complimentary coffee which is a plus. 
I definitely recommend it for the warmth.

Nice rooms at few minutes from centre

Arrived in Campeche Airport at 9pm on a typical steamy hot night.
Had to wait quite a while for a taxi (fixed price $200 pesos). The driver knew exactly where to go, and took me directly to the hotel.
The hotel has security gates as it is in a residential area. The concierge was took me straight up to the top floor to the King room I had booked. It was very spacious, beautiful tiles, nice fresh bathroom, flat screen TV, desk, chairs and a mini fridge. The best part was the brand new huge comfortable Sealy bed, which was like sleeping in a cloud.
Everything was spotless, and the air conditioning worked well, which is good as Campeche is so humid!
Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was good, it was by the pool area.
The walled city is about a 10-15 minute walk along the dusty streets, but it wasn't a big deal to me.
It was a trade off to have a large and lovely room a little away from town, compared to having a dusty, overpriced poky room within the walls.
Limited restaurants nearby, but a large supermarket and small grocers.
I would stay again.

Nice hotel outside the city walls

Let me start with this was going to be our first time off in 1 1/2 years after starting a new business. We booked directly with the hotel a month in advance. we wanted this to be special. It was my birthday and our first time to Campeche. The problems started the minute we arrived - they had lost the reservation and the hotel was "full" but for one double room. We had booked the "Master suite" - the best room they had.

We spent about 45 minutes arguing with them about our reservation - they offered us the small room at the regular room rate. I insisted they give us the room for free until they could put us in the room we had reserved. Suddenly the "suite" was available and if we gave them an hour to have it cleaned we would have our room - Hmmmmm.

So after a 2 1/2 hour drive, close to an hour arguing with the staff, we now had to wait another hour at the pool in 40+ degree heat. We have no bathing suits as they are with our bags in the truck that is now parked in a locked compound 1/2 a block from the hotel. Oh by the way, the pool is not at the hotel. You have to walk 1/2 a block down the street (opposite direction to the truck) to get to the pool. Finally we are told the room is ready. We pay for the 5 nights ($1,000 peso per night) and go up to the room. 

It is not the room we reserved! It is a smaller room on the second floor facing the street. Luckily it only has one small window at the side of the kitchenette, that we have never opened the blinds on as our view is a run down house across the street that can only be seen through the many electrical lines that are so close you can reach out and grab them.

At this point we are so frustrated and tired we take the room. The next morning I go online to get the information regarding the room we were supposed to be in and find that the price for the room we are in is $780 pesos not the $1,000 we have just paid and the price for the room we had booked (directly with the hotel for a special low rate) was only $900 peso per night not $1,000.

Back to the front desk. After much discussion they agree to only charge $800 for the room we are in but will not move on the price for the larger room which we can have for our last two nights. Did I mention this was supposed to be a relaxing get-a-way. Again in frustration we agree on the price for the room we are in and arrange to move to the "Master" suite for the last two nights.

So a little about the room we are in. the bed is so uncomfortable and thin that you can feel the slats of the wood frame the mattress sits on. it is a king and the pillows of which there are 2 cover less than 1/2 the distance of the bed (so much for the "Super Comfy Mattresses advertised). Yes we did ask if the mattress could be changed - it could not. the couch is a ratty old futon that unfortunately is more uncomfortable than the bed. we have one towel each for both the room and the pool and these are changed on Wednesdays - we came in on Thursday. Yep, we will be here for 5 days and the towels will not be changed. 

Room cleaning - it would appear the rooms are only cleaned when a guest leaves. We have been here for three days and the room has not been cleaned. They advertise daily maid service. Even the toilet waste basket has not been emptied. This is a kitchenette, but unless you bring your own lighter there is no way to light the stovetop. Kitchen garbage has not been emptied either. Oh ya, we had to go buy our own cutlery as there was only one fork, no knives and 3 spoons.

As I said this was supposed to be a relaxing time for us and we have tried to rise above these shortcomings, until tonight. We stopped at the front desk to enquire when we could change our room tomorrow as we have the Master suite reserved for our last two nights (and paid for). We were informed that it is unavailable for tomorrow and would only be available for the last night of our stay - so sorry.

I am currently sitting at the stool for the table, it has no back and is another uncomfortable piece of furniture. My wife is lying on the bed trying to sleep wishing she was back home. At this point we are stuck here. They have our money and we cannot afford to book another hotel without a refund from here.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Part of this opinion is from how different the advertising is to what the actual hotel is. Had we known this was at best a 2 star hotel we would never even considered it. Had we known the pool was not on the premises we would not of considered it. Had we known the housekeeping was non-existent, we never would have considered it. And had we known that they would use a bait and switch on us regarding the room we would never have considered it.

Just a couple of other points: 

1 if you needed to get to your car you had to have a person from the hotel go and unlock the gates. As well the cars were parked in two rows end to end. I managed to get my truck out the next day but if there had been one more car in there I have no idea how they would have gotten me out. I did not park there again and like most other guests, parked on the street.

2) While the hotel does have internet, it is slow and we have had to reconnect on a couple of occasions.

Please do not be fooled by the pictures, the description or even the comments raving about how nice it is. IT IS NOT AS ADVERTISED!!!!
