100 years ago it was a house!!
Mansion is more like it!
Bed excellent including the nice sheets etc.
Very clean.
 We looked at other places this was the best!
Even the pricy Gobenerio (sp)

Pay $100. American to stay where johnny carson stayed OR
Stay in a 100 year old mansion for $33.
Smack dab in centro with balcón.
The lady at the desk has worked here for 26 years! No habla inglés BUT she listened, spoke slowly and was very patient.

Muy bueno

Built in 1918, has a old-timey, human-operated elevator. Excellent location. The place is reasonably clean, friendly and helpful staff.
The only real problem is one common to old hotels; a lack of electrical outlets.

Quaint old place

This was a great find, right in the middle of everything, very affordable, clean, it looks like they redid the bathrooms,  there someone at the lobby 24hrs. a day, free at night private parking lot with 24hrs. service, free wifi, flat screen tv, air conditioned, great little restaurant with hotel entrance, with amazing local cuisine, located in the main street of the town, all and all a great stay.

Best location

Great service, security for vehicles in parking lot. Rooms are large, staff are friendly. Wifi works well. The hotel is really beautiful and the service is also quite decent, beds and breakfast are not the best features, however it was a very good experience and price was great. I wish I could have stayed longer.

durango

Location is great! But the rest of the hotel is old. We went for a night which is fine. Rooms are old, but I think that’s the style of the hotels. Elevator is old school so a worker needs to operate it. There isn’t parking so we parked in the lot behind the building. Bathroom floor is leveled to the shower, no separation. So it may get wet all over.stay for the location

If location is key

A small group decided to take a trip to Durango and Zacatecas, unfortunatelly the hotels we had planned to stay, were sold out, because there was a musical festival in Durango, but we decided to go anywhere.

Looking throuh Tripadvisor and other resourses we found space at "Hotel Roma", we were lucky to find this hotel with a great location, right in the middle of downtown Durango, it is an old beautifull building, right across from a beautifull theatre,  1/2 a block from the Cathedral and main square, one block away from "Pancho Villa´s Museum", small restarurants and bars all arround it. At night, the view from its balconies is fantastic.

The hotel is between 2 and 3 stars, but it compensates with the low  rate in comparison with other hotels. It is very, very clean, and  the help very polite and friendly, it has a samall coffe shop at one side of the entrance, also very clean with low prices and good food.

Over all, it is a good place to stay if you are not looking for luxury.

In the center of Durango

We stayed in the Pancho Villa suite, it was a very grand room, the bathroom was terrible, had no updates since the 60s  Taps were cracked and eroded, the bath was disgusting, the floor was crumbling tile,towels were grey and very thin.  Heater was not working in bedroom and was very cold.  Other rooms we looked at were not bad and had upgraded bathrooms, but you would have to look at a lot of rooms to find one that was OK.
