Beautiful hotel with pretty patios and great food, as well as very friendly and helpful staff, and excellent tours along the river to see the petroglyphs and to a Mayo community. Highly recommended! Visited with tour group Oct 2023.

Beautiful!

Was on a Caravan group tour through Mexico's Copper Canyon and stayed at Hotel Posada del Hidalgo for two nights after arriving by train from Creel. This Hotel is amazingly beautiful. It was a mansion converted into a hotel. It is not the traditional look of a hotel. The entrance to the the hotel is a steep walk upward on a stone walkway. There is another entrance staff can take you to if your mobility is not good.  It is like a maze with hallways and staircases with beautiful decor. Upon arrival our group was welcomed by staff offering us a tiny sample of a Margarita. I had such excitement just to explore all the crooks and crannies of this magnificent mansion. I felt quite privileged to be in room 49 just off a beautiful courtyard full of bougainvillea and Victorian style couches and chairs and not far from the room Zorro stayed in. I came to learn that my room entrance of an archway and high wood doors with a high arched stained pane glass window was originally the entrance to the workers living quarters. The bed very high to climb onto was king size with a flower on the pillow top. There was 2 wood side tables, a wood carved desk but no chair and a woven wicker bench for luggage. The tv was on the wall. The high ceiling has wood logs design with a chandelier hanging. The bathroom has a small porcelain sink which is quite hard to lean over for washing as it is quite high. There is soap, Kleenex, hand lotion dispenser, hairdryer and the shower is a separate stall. I did not use the shower as that night when I opened the sink tap, muddy water came flowing out at the beginning. I did not want to take a chance in the shower if the same might happen. And oh yes I got woken up at 4:15am with the crowing of roosters.  I found this happening quite often hearing the roosters and dogs through my journey through the Copper Canyon. Breakfast buffet is small and staff serve you. It did not look to appealing to me except for the potatoes.  I did enjoy the omelette that they make to your liking with cheese, mushroom and Mexican vegetables. Dinner at their pretty restaurant with floral flowers decorating the ceiling was very good. Tasty vegetable soup. Main dish Black Bass Fish with garlic butter, rice and vegetables. After dinner the hotel puts on a cheesy Zorro show. At 5pm the hotel bar just off the beautiful swimming pool area does a Tequilla Margarita demonstration. They give you a small sample of their Margarita drinks and their special Hotel brand Zorro Tequila. And if you want to buy their Zorro Tequila bottle it is an expensive $70.00 US. Was expecting a demonstration on how to make a Margarita which does not happen so that was disappointing. The swimming pool water is warm like bath water. The Hotel gave our group a private tour of the hotel and a short tour of the town of El Fuerte by the charming gentleman guide (which I do not know his name). He has been working at this hotel as a young boy and now is retired but comes back to help out at the hotel when needed. The town of El Fuerte is quite pretty, check out the park with the sign. For souvenirs surprisingly this is not the place for a lot of choice like you have in Creel. There was only 2 stores and about 3 outside souvenir vendor stands. There is a lot of stores on another street that cater to the locals.

Amazingly Beautiful Hotel

From beginning to end, this was a wonderful experience. The rooms are exquisite and cover a range of tastes, from historic to modern.  The restaurant was excellent.  On arrival we were given a historic tour of the estate but the most wonderful part was how we were treated after check out  I forgot a keepsake of mine in the room.  It was a blanket.  I know it sounds stupid but it was important to me.  Fanya Roman, the sweetest person ever, retreived it and sent it to me in Mazatlan.  She also included a book and some cookies from Los Mochis, with it.  Talk about customer service!  So, please plan a trip to this wonderful place.

Rooms a good size, comfy beds and pillows.
No opening window. Cockerels start crowing at 5am onwards so no need to set an alarm!
Charged bottled water in the room $39 pesos.
Enjoyed the free Zorro show even though we didn’t speak Spanish.

Lovely hotel

Employees are soo rude, the web page show pictures of jacuzzi and climate pool, but nothing is true, there's no jacuzzi since 3 years or more according to the people here and the pool have not heater the water was soo cool, my daughter and nices gets very disappointed... it's soo frustrating to pay for something and make plans and at the end just stay in the room because you book and pay something that doesn't exist... don't eastern your time and Money, look for another place to stay...

Don't believe what you see on the pictures.

This is a lovely property and booked with Coppercanyon.com which is an agency owned or contracted by the Balderamma Hotel group.  So they put us here and in El Mirador up at the Canyon. This hotel, while lovely, has old rooms with little ventilation. Our A/C leaked water on the floor and went bananas in the middle of the night, sounding like a frieght train, so we turned it off.  There was no air in the room. So I opened the door and the window, which had no screens. The lights were blinding. There are NO room phones, so I dressed and walked all the way to lobby. NO ONE was there and the reception area was dark and locked. NO STAFF present. So, what if I had a heart attack, or slipped on the water on the floor and cracked my head on the tiles?  What about fire?  There was no help available.  Completely dangerous and I'm not sure it is even legal.  This is a colonial building that desperately needs upgrading in the rooms and needs to be staffed  24/7.  Oh! and they don't have potable water but will gladly SELL you bottled water.  So, the basics of human life: water, air and security all not available for our stay.  Good luck if you stay here.  I refused to stay on the return tip and went straight to Los Mochis.  El Fuerte is not much of a town, anyway.  One hour is enough.

Enjoyed the beautiful grounds and the Zorro show. Chuy was an amazing bar tender and Zorro was very entertaining.  Rooms and beds were very comfortable.  Only negative is not about the hotel but the town has little flying bugs, so bug cream or spray is a must.

Beautiful and fun

I absolutely loved this hotel when looking at a place to stay in El Fuerte. The rooms are very clean. Having that pool is a big plus. The sorrounding area is very secure. The ladies at front desk are kind to their guest and upon arrival after asking them questions they recommend the things we should do. Overall with the hotel I was very happy.

Lovely place to rest

We spent a few hours here on a tour and really enjoyed the food, dancing and hummingbirds.  The town is very beautiful and the hotel and gardens are fun to explore.  

We didn't stay here but looked in a few rooms and they were very nice.  The outside bar was also very nice.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

I would definitely stay here on our next visit to the area.
