This hotel has unique large suite rooms with entry, living room and kitchenette. Ours overlooked the pool and ocean from different windows. Our room was clean and comfortable, but (the whole place) was in need of repairs and maintenance. It has a restaurant with good breakfast, a pool and parking. Restaurants and bars are nearby. 

Lovely property

This is our 4th trip to San Carlos in the past 6 months and rather than "rent" an apartment for 2 weeks, we found this gem at a more than reasonable cost.  The grounds are well kept and the pool was nice and refreshing. The on-property restaurant has a good selection of food as well as drinks. And if you wanted something else, you can go across the street to another restaurant, or next door if you want Italian.  One can get around quite well speaking English as the staff is pretty fluent as well.  Our "apartment" was like a studio with a kitchen (stove, frig, coffee maker), bedroom (king?)  and a 3/4 bathroom.  Our only issue was that the location of the "apartment" led a number of guests and/or the public to attempt to use our private patio that's outside the front door.  When that happened, we politely informed those folks that this is our patio and not for public use...and then informed the hotel general manager (maybe the owner?) as per his request.  He was very caring and asked that if there was ANYTHING we were not pleased with, to talk to him directly.  Now THAT'S customer service.  Speaking of location, be aware that the "apartment" is next to the main road and openly visible to the public. Unfortunately, I had a pair of swim trunks stolen off our patio over night as I was letting the dry.  But other than that one incident, we felt very safe...just be sure to shut the blinds or you'll be showing yourself to the world, haha!

We will be contacting them for another stay in a few weeks.

It's like your own private villa

We have stayed here twice out of necessity. Back in the day this was a happening spot, and was the hit of the town. Now it is a relic. The staff tries real hard to make you feel like a quality customer, within their capabilities. The rooms are large in size, making it great if you are sprawling out with travel crap. We scuba dive, so their rooms are excellent for our needs. The price is adequate for the location. Too bad they do not have the funds to rebuild this location, They could get more income for the rooms, the location is good.

Back in the day

We are on road trip home to Canada from Mexico, so booked the Tetakawi as a last night before crossing the border.   The check in was OK.  But the parking lot was very rough, the trim around the door was eaten by insects, the security latch on the patio door was loose - did not seem secure at all.   There was no secure window to open, to make use of the cool night breeze, and the AC was quite loud.    The beds were comfy enough.    They only gave one towel each, with no face cloths or hand towels.   The pool area is quite nice.   We did not stay for breakfast, which started too late for us.   WiFi was quite weak from our room.

Tetakawi is past its prime, in need of TLC

We were disappointed.  There was NO internet access in our room.  Receptionist said that it often didn’t work when there were many guests using it.  There was only one other room occupied and no internet access in our room.  
Breakfast was disappointing.  Consisted of coffee, white bread, and a toaster which we were to use to make the white sliced bread brown.  No knives to spread the butter with.  We were told when we checked in that a continental breakfast would be served in the bar area by the pool.  Not so - we were in the lobby.
No screens on the window nor screen door on the balcony so couldn’t have fresh air without mosquitos.  Place had a feeling of neglect - peeling paint in the bathroom.  Had to pay 500 peso deposit in case we stole a towel.  This was returned in the morning but the feeling of distrust was uncomfortable.
I would not stay here again nor would I recommend it.

DISAPPOINTING!

When we checked in we were surprised that we had a few odd things that I have not had before. They took a separate deposit. Turns out it is for the towels & bath rug. Really. They also handed us the control for the TV & AC. When we checked out we had to bring the controls back & the young lady from the desk had to come & count the towels & other things. I guess it has been a problem for them. It does come with a "breakfast" Which is a lady cooking white bread toast for you. The property is not as bad as you might think. The room was OK. It was cheap. Like $45. So I guess you should expect something a little bit different.

Kinda strange, but very good price

Cheap and clean hotel. 
Located close to great restaurants (Charley’s Rock and Arbolitos). Only downside was no wifi in the rooms however there was wifi near the pool. 
Pet friendly and didn’t charge extra. Also had grass and turf which my dog really liked. 
Continently breakfast was extremely minimal and included 2 choices of cold cereal, toast and coffee.
Pool is not heated and it was too cold to use in the winter 

Great choice for the money

We are always very "lucky" to get room number 201....it needs urgent remodeling.the ceiling in a bathroom soon will fall down, the water pressure is low, the ceiling in a room is covered will mold, the dust is always on the same place when we come there . the floor is dirty in not visible places....Just one plus; they are pet friendly.
