We came here with family including two children. It’s a good place to go if your hotel doesn’t have a pool or if you are looking to just veg out for a day. The pool water in the regular pool was extra warm but manageable. Better warm than freezing cold. Super convenient that you can bring alcohol (only cans), drinks, your own food. Or they have plenty of it there if you don’t want to
Carry all your stuff around. One minus was that you had ti pay extra to do into the “spa” area. I was looking forward to the spa but the extra purchase wasn’t in the works for the entire family. In all, good place to go for a quick dip in the pool.

Good experience

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit in their mineral thermal baths/jacuzzis. There was a coffee tub (with extra coffee grounds available to scrub with), a mud jacuzzi, with mineral mud to use separately as well. There was also a seaweed, herb and eucalyptus hot tubs. Everything seemed exceptionally well organized and clean. We enjoyed ourselves very much.

We arrived during a Holiday weekend and the place was packed. You really need Spanish to stay here comfortably. We rented one of the upgraded rooms with Jacuzzi on the balcony. The bed was great, but no coffee in the room and nothing opened on property until 9am. It is very loud here, as it is filled with families. After closing to the public at 7pm, it becomes very quiet. There are several restaurants on premises with adequate quality food. The location is such, that there are few places to walk to eat elsewhere. The spa was OK, as the hot tubs were not really hot, more like tepid bath water. The massages were also, adequate. You really need a car when visiting here, on our departure, no taxis were available and staff was not helpful at all in helping us call to obtain one.

Thermal Baths at a Mexican Holiday Resort

Our Taxi driver suggested this gem since Tobolandia was closed. At first, we only thought it was a couple of pools, but there were several heated pools, one with a slide and diving board, a couple of kids pools, a big Jacuzzi and about 6 smaller jacuzzis. There is also another area with jacuzzis that you pay for where they add minerals and you can also get facials, massages or a pedicure for additional cost. We ordered fish tacos and other seafood and it was delicious and fresh. Two of my family members ordered milanesa because they don't like seafood. Entrance was about 15 for adults and 7 for kids. They sell bathing suits, swimming trunks and kids floaties, sandals etc. inside at good prices. I bought round floaties for $2 and $3 for my kids who are 3 and 7. We will be going back in November. Also, once you leave the water park and head in to san juan cosala, try the raspados which are delicious.

Heated pools by the lake and great food

Total false advertising. No wifi in rooms and sporadic in the lobby. No A/C. They don't have telephone in the rooms and only one electrical outlet. Their facility is open to the public everyday until 6 pm. They tell their guest that the facilities will be for guest use only from 6 to 8. After 6 once their day guest left they emptied all but one hot tub for cleaning. This 8 person hot tub  had more then 20 people in it. Their lobby is about   4x4 meters. And cannot accommodate their hotel guest and day guest in this small area. Way over priced compared to other hotels in the area.

Stay away

All you can drink and I didn't have any! (Just kidding!) We've never been to hot spring pools like these and had a great time--made even better by meeting/sharing the pools with some really friendly people from Chicago. Staying at the hotel gives you free admission to the water park which itself is fabulous--2 water slides, multiple pools, jacuzzi pools, and steam rooms.

Thermal pools of Coffee and Red Wine!

I entered the San Juan Cosala Spa on Sunday morning around 8:30 am. There were very few people around. I would say that on Sunday from 8:30 am to 1 pm there are not that many people there. The pools of thermal water had very few people in them. I enjoyed my 3 hours in the pools of 40 degree temperatures. 

A weekend get away

i went there with my family ... it´s great option to stay and have fun ... Great prices, you can eat and it´s great too. The SPA is amazing! Hot pools , security, great facilities. You will love it, You will want to back asap.

EXCELLENT PLACE!

Your skin will THANK YOU after leaving. We accidentally found San Juan Cosala, our original location yo stay was Chapala. We drove around Chapala and none of the hotels looked fun or comfy to stay, we traveled with our 5 year old toddler and a pool was a must. We drove To Ajijic, didn’t find a Resort there either. Googled the next town San Juan Cosala, The Hotel Balneario had great positive reviews, so we drove to find it. 
If your first time at like we were, this can be a little confusing and hard to figure out if it’s all a resort or many different spas. We parked right in front of the Hotel that googled mapped us to and saw how the outside of the color of the buildings was that they were all different hotels. It’s 4 to 5 different Spas and Hotels. All with Termal Waters? I just saw Great review and Pool didn’t read much more. They had rooms available, the very nice receptionist helped us out and we ended up getting the NEWER Jacuzzi in room only a few more hundred pesos. We paid $2600 pesos and they had a special promotion 2 nights get the 3rd free. That’s $96 dollars a night! GREAT DEAL! 
Our room was perfect, Big Spacious and a Jacuzzi in the patio. Not a fancy hotel or Luxury but PERFECT!
We settled in a went for a swim to relax after a long day of driving from Michoacán to San Juan Cosala. 
The waters on all the pools were nice and warm! And SUPER CLEAN! The grounds are very well kept taken care of. Staying in the upstairs facing the lake suite we could see early in the morning employees, scrubbing and cleaning every chair umbrella pool, floors and so on. Not that they made loud noises or woke us up! This was 7-8 am we were up by then. 
There’s a hotel only side that I loved. The pools were more private and relaxing. 
My 5 year old toddler absolutely loved loved it here. He made many friends and the different kids water area are perfect. 
After our first day, my skin was super soft and we were very relaxed, we had done a 7 day drive from Guadalajara to Patzcuaro to Las Zarquillas and back to Guadalajara area. We had 3 days to enjoy this resort, and WE DID! 
The food is excellent and great prices and the drinks are perfect. 
We did a drive to Ajijic to try a restaurant that had great reviews, it was So expensive and the food was not as flavorful like the one at Hotel Balneario. 
We ate the remainder stay at the hotel, they even had pancakes for my picky son. 
There’s a walk to 24 hours market with snacks Waters alcohol. It’s right at the corner of the entrance. 
The only thing I that I found bad was the service on the lower spa. I was very curious to know about it and woke up early to explore the grounds, it was 8:40 and I walked to the receptionist and asked her how the Spa worked and how I could sign in, she clearly announced that there was 4 people in front of me and that they didn’t open until 9 and turned her back to me and walked away??
The lady sitting waiting to eater at 9:00 explain that only a certain amount of people could go in at a time, So why couldn’t the employee tell me this? Or sign me up for the next available time? 
This is one part of the hotel I didn’t get to try or use. Very sad but the rest of the hotel and services made up for this bad incident. 
We were very sad to leave. 
Already planning our 2020 trip, with a stay here to start our trip. 

Absolutely AMAZING!! Everything about this place is awesome! Can’t wait to return. 

My friend & I went to this spa today by bus from Chapala.  Bus stop very near spa.
On arrival you have to pay 280 pesos per adult to get in (not sure why we paid this as we never wanted to use the swimming pools)
Go thru the entrance to get into the  Spa you have to pay another 175 pesos per adult.  This will get you into 6 outdoor spa's.  You are all timed, very organised spa.  Each hot spa has a different flavor in the water, ie red wine, petals, salt, coffee, apple cider vinegar. Spread mud all over your body, let it dry in the sunshine & then go in last muddy spa!
There are facials steam & sauna caves, hot showers.  Stands by each spa for your towel/purse/belongings.
Drinks are provided hot tea & water to stay hydrated, wine not recommended dehydrate!
Takes abot 2hrs 15mins to go thru this cycle.
The bus back to Chapala top of the main road on your right see green seat & shelter.
Bus saying "Guadalajara " will stop in Chapala 40min ride  $2.
FOOD:  They have a restaurant by the swimming pools, not recommended.  Best to bring your own food everyone else had picnic/hamper.
We had a great day out, really worth going to this place.
