Maya Luna’s location and view far surpasses any other hotel. The four bungalows are in the midst of palm trees, feet from the ocean. I spent four days here and would love to go back anytime. The staff are wonderful always ready to help with any question or need and a lot of fun. There are hammocks and chaise lunges scattered around the beach to relax in   Instead of going into Mahahual, I decided to stay the whole time at Maya Luna. The food at the restaurant is varied, plentiful and excellent.

An awesome location

Our family of eleven was looking for a relaxing day at the beach away from the crowds of the cruise ship and Maya Luna fit the bill perfectly.  Carolina was extremely professional in providing me with information about the hotel before we ever arrived. She arranged for our transportation from and back to the port. She provided us with meal and snack selections so that we would be able to make our choices before we even arrived.  The drive from the port was longer than I expected and the road was not well maintained in some places. But, that is not unusual when you get away from the typical tourist areas. On our arrival, we were shown to lounge chairs under a shaded awning.   We had picnic tables in the shade of the numerous trees on the property.  The staff was attentive to all our requests. The drinks, snacks and lunch were plentiful and delicious. I especially liked the pineapple shrimp and the guacamole.  The property is so peaceful that a pair of woodpeckers had built a nest in a tree stump right next to us.  My granddaughters were really excited to see them tending to their little ones. Actually, we were all excited to see them. The seaweed in Costa Maya is a problem.  Carolina had informed me about the seaweed before we ever arrived. She did not want us to be caught unaware.  And though there was seaweed in front of the hotel property, we were able to take a short walk down the road to an area where there was very little.  Thanks to Carolina and her wonderful staff our day at Maya Luna was peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable.

Peaceful, Relaxing and Totally Enjoyable

We stayed for one night in Maya Luna and was incredible! The room is amazing, great location right on the Beach. Got to sleep with the sound of waves. Breakfast is amazing, a lot of variety and staff very friendly

Excellent Stay

Great hospitality, great location, great food and very calm beach vibe. We had a bungalow at the water, with rooftop terrace. You hear the sea from the bungalow and see the amazing starry skies from the rooftop terrace. Just shy off Mahahual centre, 5min by car / taxi, but remote enough to completely relax. Definitely recommend.

Great location, hospitality and vibe

Maya Luna is such a wonderful place to spend a few nights.  The bungalow was right in front of the water with a private roof top patio and a private patio downstairs too!  It was super clean inside and had everything I needed.  The staff is amazing.  They are there if you need anything.  The water was hot.  The bed was comfortable. And the water was lovely.  I read that some people were angry because there was no wifi.  Yes there was wifi - in the public spaces but none in the room (my room at least).  But I didn't come there to be watching Netflix.  I came to enjoy the nature and the beach.  So for me it was perfect.  There was no AC but the wind and the fan kept my room very comfortable.  I was sad to leave  - and hope to come back soon

Wonderful Quiet Getaway

I’ve stayed at Maya Luna twice now.  My wife and I love it.  The cabins are simple and nice; there is no AC, but the sea breeze always blows in.  The food at the restaurant is very good and reasonably priced.  Buba, the manager, speaks English well; he is helpful and friendly.  There is good snorkeling right out from the shore.  Very relaxing days were spent swimming and laying on the beach under the cabana and reading.  I would highly recommend the Maya Luna.

Excellent Hotel

Maya Luna was such an awesome rustic beach get away. Great food (breakfast included) and really reasonable priced drinks. Good wifi in the rooms and we loved our own private rooftop on top of our bungalow. Ajax the dog is so friendly and the couple that own the hotel are so helpful with anything you need. You can use the kayaks for free and the snorkeling out front is incredible. Definetly our favorite accommodation in our 2 week stay in Mexico. We can't wait to come back.

Amazing hotel

This is truly a wonderful hotel with amazing owners. Me and my family felt so welcome here.  We loved it so much we came back to visit. I love the fact that its dog friendly. lets talk about the food!!! omg!!! We couldn't stop eating, from the pineapple rice, grilled fish and ceviche. Everything was truly amazing. Thank you Carolina and Husband. Also Luis  has amazing snorkel tour and diving, must take it with him.

The best stayed of our trip!!!!!

I was in hotel/restaurant Maya Luna with Carolien, her husband Jan and their crew in March this year. I visited them for the third time. The crew, Jorge, Gerardo and Norma, were all still there; the reception is so warm, it feels like coming home... I just slipped through the Mexican (and Dutch) lockdown during my holidays but actually Maya Luna is a paradise in times of social distancing. It is located about 3 km. south of the village of Mahahual. Not bothered by crowds, on the contrary, you often have the beach to yourself. Maya Luna is a small-scale eco resort, there are only 4 bungalows (with private roof terraces) on the private beach of the hotel, and you have your own private beach chairs in front of your bungalow ... You don't have to bother to keep your distance, everything is completely private and very spacious. For me it is also important that Maya Luna is managed as eco as possible. You take your (hot!) shower with rainwater and all electricity is generated with solar panels. They separate waste in the kitchen, and they hardly use plastic anymore. Reducing my eco footprint feels good. It allows me to fully enjoy the beautiful nature surrounding the place, and the peace and space there. And ofcourse the delicious food in their restaurant. The bungalows are basic but they provide everything needed. Comfortable beds, private bathroom with hot water and a terrace with hammock. And all that finding the azure blue Caribbean at your feet. In addition, Luis runs a diving school on the hotel ground. He can take you diving at the near reef, you can go for a snorkeling trip or go sailing with him and his catamaran.
