Everything perfect as per the description. It is located in a fantastic position right by the sea and with an easy safe parking in front. 

Rooms were super clean and functional. The owner was fantastic and always very kind and available to accommodate our requests and provide advices on where to eat and where to spend the day at the beach. Overall, highly recommend and good price for quality.

Great place to stay in Mahahual

My wife and I stayed here for our Mahahual get away and it was great! Highly recommend this little hotel, it’s far enough from the cruise ship dock and just behind the Malecon and beach access. Nearby is the Yaya Bar and Doctor Dive for your liquid and aquatic adventures. Many restaurants to choose from, panderias, mini-supers, farmacias etc in short walking distance. Staff is friendly and helpful. Check them out!

Posada Panchamama 

The Hotel is on the main Street and really close to everything in Town considering that Mahahual Down Town is really Tinny.
Clean, AC, Mini Refrigerator and Sky...But, the room was smaller that they Promote on their Website with those great Photos.

Worth it for the Money

Bad - no - WiFi, a really small bed, you have to close the bathroom door to even ISW the only small mirror and sink. The curtains are molded. Not the best experience. We didnt sleep as the neighbours next to the hotel were really loud. Staff is pretty friendly. But thats it.

Not what we expected

Pro's:
Great tv channels.
Quiet a.c.
Friendly staff.
Balcony (I was offered a chair.)
Hot water.
Soft towels and sheets.
Good bathroom lighting.
Black-out drapes.

Con's:
Bed not great, only single or doubles available and wasn't real comfortable.
Small room, 2 can't pass each other. 
No washcloth, hand towel, blow dryer, color or decor.
Have to leave room key at desk when you leave hotel,  never did that anywhere else. They are afraid you will loose key and there is no locksmith available to replace.
They took a 50% deposit when we made reservation, then took the balance about a month before we checked in. Everywhere else takes the balance when you arrive. 

There are a few inexpensive things that can be done to improve the ambiance.  A larger mirror and shelf in bath, and decorative film on the window for color (like stained glass.)
A painting on the wall, or better yet, fabric paint in a bold print on the drapes. The large wooden closet made the room dark and smelled a bit musty. Either paint the wood, or remove doors and place a nice counter top on the base? My room was all beige, dark and dreary. Mexico is so vibrant, I love to see all the beautiful colors. 

I feel the room was overpriced for the size and decor. 

Lower evaluation based on value

I arrived in Mahahual with three friends without having booked a room in advance because we wanted to check out the seaweed situation first. We passed several hotels that looked lovely but the seaweed was awful. We finally arrived at Posada Pachamama and there was not much seaweed and no smell. We inquired about the rates. A sign posted in the small lobby indicated they were offering a 20% discount. We were informed a room would be $1000 pesos a night. Somewhat exhausted from travel and tired of looking we decided to stay there. One room (room 1) on the ground floor across the hall from the check in area - the one I stayed in with one of my friends - was available immediately, while the other room (room 7 upstairs) for my other two friends needed to be cleaned. We paid for two nights and we left our luggage in room 1. After entering the room, and hearing the voices in the hallway at the reception desk, I immediately knew I would be uncomfortable with the noise level. I also noticed two cabinets in the closet with padlocks on them, as well as a bathroom sink with a missing drain stop, and a view from the large windows of an ugly outdoor space which turned out to be where staff went up and down stairs all day with trash and dirty laundry. I then asked if we could move upstairs. The guy at the desk looked disturbed by my question but then looked to see if an upstairs room was available, and indeed he confirmed there was an available upstairs room that also just needed to be cleaned. He then looked in room 1 and noticed we’d opened our suitcase and used the toilet. He then said we may need to pay the cleaning lady to reclean the room. I thought this was ridiculous but I immediately said that would be fine and I’d be happy to give her 200 pesos for her efforts. So off we went for lunch. 

When I returned after lunch, the guy then informed me a room change would not be possible because we’d already paid for room 1. I immediately knew that made no sense at all as hotels routinely change rooms to accommodate their guests every day all over the world. But in a desire to just go with the flow and get on with relaxing on the beach, I said fine. 

As our plans were somewhat in flux, and my friends in room 7 were quite happy with their room, we ended up staying at this hotel for nearly a week. During the week, I saw my other friends’ room, room 7, which was on the top floor. Unlike room 1, it had a balcony, a sink with a drain stop, no mysteriously locked cabinets, a window in the bathroom with nice natural light, a view from the balcony of beautiful palm trees, and overall a much more pleasant feel. 

I was greatly annoyed knowing we were paying the exact same amount for the dull, drab room 1 with no balcony as my friends were paying for room 7 with a balcony. When I asked about this, I was informed the hotel policy is to charge the same for these rooms. My efforts to explain why that made no sense at all went nowhere. 

Finally on our second to last night, I again inquired if we could change to an upstairs room. Apparently, all such decisions must be run by the hotel’s owner, an Italian man named Maximiliano Palli. I never saw or heard from Mr. Palli, but I gathered he is the owner after reading other reviews here. After an hour or so, I was informed we could move to room 3, just below room 7. This was presented to me as if the hotel was doing me some big favor. 

The next morning, I asked if we could move our things upstairs after we had breakfast. Again, this very simple request was denied. 

Beyond the total nonsense about charging the same for a room with a balcony as for a room with no balcony and an ugly view, I also noticed during the week the front desk was frequently left unattended. This wouldn’t be a big deal except guests are required to leave their key with the front desk. We were actually told we could just leave the key on the desk even if no one was there. This is of course outrageous and obviously defeats the purpose of locking a door at all if anyone passing by can just come in grab whatever key is laying on the desk and help themselves to any guests’ belongings. 

I don’t like to write bad reviews but this place is extremely poorly run and I do not believe Mr. Palli understands professionalism, courtesy, security or how a hotel should operate. Mr. Palli’s replies to other negative reviews only confirms this to be a fact, given his generally dismissive, arrogant and rude tone. 

This is too bad, because with a few easy changes, this hotel could be a gem. The rooms are small but cozy, the WiFi is slow but generally works, there’s AC, small refrigerators, and hot water. It’s very close to the beach. The beds aren’t luxury but are adequate. The staff are generally pleasant but not particularly concerned with the comfort of guests. For 1000 pesos a night, I’m not expecting the Ritz Carlton. But the comfort and security of guests should always be paramount. However, as it is, Mr. Palli’s policies are unreasonable, unfair and jeopardize the safety and security of his guests.

Unsafe, unfair pricing and bad service

I arrived to the hotel that did not look that bad on the pictures and I was surprised on how bad it was... the rooms look amazing in the pics compared to what you get. The sheets were dirty and the bathroom horrible and uncomfortable. But the worst was at night. At 12am a fire alarm started sounding with 20 beeps - this sounded each hour until 4am!!! We No one was available to fix it and the next morning they didn't even care this happen. Horrible hotel with a total lack of service.
