The restaurant was magnificent. You would not imagine such a great dinning experience in this hidden gem... the “ternera” was amazing and the service was outstanding 

Highly recommended if you are in the area!!

Hidden gem with great food

Casa Limon, Owned by Leonel Gracia Quintanilla who invented one of the most successful restaurant concepts in the 80´s, L´Honfleur, has been living in Malinalco for over 20 years were has created a lovely paradise. Beautiful architecture in the midst of a luxuriant garden, peace and great service in this unique town in the state of Mexico on the fringes of three major mountain ranges in the center of Mexico.  Just 2 hours south east of Mexico City, you arrive to this town full of history, its famous eagle monolith pyramid from the Aztec period, this being a military bastion together with Xochicalco on te road to Cuernavaca and Tepotztlan, this three centers were the frontier from the Gulf of Mexico cultures and the Aztec dominions by the 1400´s just before the arrival of Colon 1492 and Cortes 1517.  The Dominican convent is a must, perfectly restored by the workshop of Manuel Serrano and INAH it is one o the best convents in Mexico to visit.
Food at Casa Limon is excellent, the dining room is beautiful open to the gardens, excellent wine selection and first rate Mexican breakfast!!

High sophistication with grace in Malinalco, State of Mexico.

Every New Year’s Eve for the last 10 years, my wife and I have dinner at Casa Limon.  This year my wife was unable to join me due to her work schedule, so I dined alone.  The staff were really friendly even though my Spanish is limited, and they went out of their way to make sure I knew what I was ordering.  I certainly look forward to dining with my wife on our next trip to Malinalco.  I have never stayed at the hotel so have no comments there but the bar area is very relaxing for a pre dinner drink.  Thank you Casa Limon!


Still one of the best.

I am sorry to say that maybe we had bad luck visiting this place. 
We choose it for a special celebration and the place is absolutely beautiful but it was completely empty and they were not prepared to serve us dinner even when they knew in advance that we were going. 
It’s a gorgeous little Boutique Hotel with a very nice restaurant and bar.  Maybe it was not a good day and we are sorry. 
We wanted artichoke that was in their Menu but they just had some, then we wanted trout which was one of their specialties and also they just had a few.  The cilantro soup was delicious but cold.  It was a pity...
Even their service was poor. 
Hope to have better luck if we go back. 

So.... So...

I first stayed in Casa Limon three years ago for my wedding anniversary.  Because of the fond memories, I decided to repeat.

I continue to find the hotel charming filled with beautiful details(the ceramics are amazing) and fresh flowers.  The food at the restaurant is top notch.  Service is very friendly and the staff will do anything to accommodate you. 

Unfortunately I wasn't too happy with my room. The mattress has seen better times and needs to be replaced.  The complimentary shampoo was half empty and there were spider webs in the corners. 

I hope that the owner pays more attention to the little details. 

The devil is in the details 

Cute countryside place, but unfortunately it also was mosquito paradise, hell on earth... Terribly noisy, AVOID room #1 too close from the kitchen, friends told us to also avoid rooms above room #1, too hot. Lunch was good, breakfast slow and terrible... 
Half of the staff was very kind, as we felt our presence bothered the other half...
