We were supposed to stay for 2 nights, but abruptly left after 1. I don’t know how this hostel has such a high rating, but they did win hostel of the year on hostelworld in 2008. We thought because it was in a great neighborhood we would overlook the previous negative reviews, after all, somehow this hostel has a 9+ rating. How bad could it be? It’s very bad. Do not stay here. You have been warned. Please look at the TripAdvisor reviews for honest and updated experiences.

The washrooms are extremely dirty, and probably have not been cleaned in a very very long time, hostel washrooms are usually high traffic, and I can recognize daily grime when I see it, however the black and grey layer over everything, the mould present, and many other signs show that these washrooms have not been cleaned in a very long time. 

We rented the private room, the lock was broken and the door was extremely difficult to close, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, similar to laying on a mat on top of wood slats. I’ve slept in some uncomfortable beds in my travels, but none as uncomfortable as these. 

There are labels on the washrooms: Men and Women’s designated washrooms. The Men’s washroom is a cramped and disgusting room underneath the stairs, which you could see through the stairs into the bathroom. Men constantly were using the Women’s bathroom, and as there is no Hostel staff on duty, there’s no one to ensure the privacy of women in the bathroom. I was walked in on several times and considering the Women’s shower was too small and unsafe to change in (it was a bathtub with a partition, so that it could be turned into two showers, but only one shower worked). I personally would not stay here if I was traveling in a small group of females or with other females, as there is no staff on duty overnight. 

It feels like no one has cared for this place in 10 years. I know that the owner is going to probably reply this review on Hostelworld, make up excuses, possibly insult me, be extremely patronizing as he has been in the past, but please take a look at TripAdvisor reviews (I posted the conditions of the hostel) and you can see for yourself the deplorable conditions of this hostel.

We stayed in this hostel for 3 nights - our flight arrived late on the first night and although the airport transfer was helpful, the hostel owner made us feel like we'd inconvenienced him on arrival. After the first morning the hostel was completely empty apart from us. The toilets were also pretty dirty - I ended up using the men's shower (I'm a woman) because the shower was flooded with dirty water. We had a private double room which was a good size, clean albeit a bit cold at night. 
The location is great, within walking distance to a great park and loads of bars, cafés and street food. 
We believe this hostel is generally overpriced for what it is and will definitely not be visiting again. 

Good location, poor hostel

I had a trip to Mexico City in spring 2015. I quite enjoyed my stay in hostel. It´s really close to a metro station and a beautiful park. In walking distance there are also some good restaurants and clubs. I loved a salsa night in one of clubs in the area. The conditions in hostel are fine, I stayed in dorm of 9 with my friend. The bathrooms though could be a little cleaner. Toilet didn´t work every time. Kitchen has a microwave and a fridge.The building is kind of old-fashioned, but trimmed. The lockers didn´t have locks, so you have to be careful about stuff you´re leaving there (I didn´t have any bad experience though). The host is great and speaks fluent English. I had a good time in hostel in DF.

nice stay

Restful place in great location near Chapultepec Park, Zona Rosa, subway station, Angel of Independence.  Around the hostel are quiet, safe, tree-shaded streets and parks with many convenient stores and food options.  

The owner greeted me and showed me around, oriented me to the neighborhood and sights around it.  He was friendly and set up my early morning ride to the airport.

Bunk beds had fairly new-looking mattresses, reading lights, and electrical outlets.  Bathrooms well-functioning with plenty of hot water and water pressure.  Bathrooms small, but several to choose from.  Upstairs terrace was a peaceful retreat.  Tranquil neighborhood with friendly people.

Peaceful, pretty location

I stayed there 2 nights, it was 2 nights too... The receptionist is a bit weird, wake up you at 9AM to know if you stay one more night (actualy check out is at 11AM), come in the dorm for no raison, anytime. And to finish, I slept 1 night without any cover on my bed... Just horrible.
