Do yourself a huge favor and book this trip now! I had an amazing time on the Surf Safari with Tom and I can’t recommend it enough. Tom and Lizzette take care of you like you’re their oldest friends and you’ll get a truly custom tailored experience in every since of the word. The first surf session is used to analyze your current skill level. Don’t worry though, you don’t need to be Kelly Slater you just need a bit of surfing experience and you’ll be good to go! After understanding where your current skill level is, Tom then creates a whole trip for you. Besides observation he’ll ask you how aggressive you want to be on this trip. And remember it’s YOUR vacation He’ll remind you of this A LOT LOL. . So if you want to surf 3.5hrs a session 2x a day you can do that. If you want to surf 40 minutes 2x a day you can do that. If you want to relax and have some drinks and kick back that’s great! Or if you are simply there to be a vegan, recover between sessions and surf til your arms fall off, that’s fine too 😊 

Your morning will start with a delicious home kicked meal from Lizzett (Tom’s wife) with Tom and your morning surf guide Evan (best surfer in town). Everyday is different, but expect fresh fruit, coffee, a main dish like huevos rancheros and side dishes like homemade pancakes. Then you will all go to the morning break. This can be by car or boat (depending on the conditions and analysis Tom did of your skills). After a killer morning session, you’ll go back to your hostel and let me tell you it’ s no ordinary hostel. The grounds are beautiful, and you’ll have a private room with your own patio. The communal kitchen is where people socialize and has amazing air flow and an ocean view of Troncones point. A short break and then Lizzette will cook you another amazing meal! After some relaxing, a stretch, nap or beer (or all the above) it’s back for an afternoon session (typically at Salidita given afternoon winds). After another session of Tom or Evan giving you great advice about where to paddle out, which way the currents go, where to take off from etc you’ll head back from some evening socializing and then out to dinner at one of the local restaurants (included in the price of your trip). It’s up to you how much partying or resting you want to, but everything is customized to YOU. So don’t be afraid to tell them EXACTLY what you want! 

Halfway through the trip you have an option to take a boat to Palo Alto or to go fishing. As it was double-triple overhead I said let’s fish! And it’s the best kind fishing. Bring some drinks snacks and prepare to have the captain troll and hand you the pole once something is hooked. We saw turtles, a school of dolphins and pulled in enough bonita for fish tacos that night. There’s also a massage included on this day to help you recover from all the 2xday surf sessions! 

I had an incredible time on this trip and am certainly going back. I really can’t recommend it enough and think Tom actually undersells it, but man does he over-deliver. By the time I left I felt like I had made really good friends, substantially elevated my surf fitness and had gotten an insider’s perspective replete with meeting local business owners and going to neighborhood house parties. I really can not recommend this trip highly enough!

Surf Safari for the Win!

Beautiful hostel with a perfect location if you want to surf the surrounding point breaks. Tom and Liz are wonderful hosts and they made me feel very welcome! The rooms are very clean and the community kitchen on the rooftop is a beautiful place to hangout! Tom can also help you out with any questions regarding the surrounding surf spots!

Beautiful hostel right at the point break!

A nice and welcoming hostel with comfortable hotel standard, very kind and and helpful hosts. Beautiful sunsets, pelicans and wonderful beaches, better for surfers than families with children.

An amazing hostel

My first stay in a hostel and it was a great experience. Tom and Lisette were warm and friendly, and I met people of all ages from all over the world. The vibe is very chill and the property is beautiful and well kept. The beach access is right across the street and the sunset view from the kitchen are spectacular. It's a fairly long walk into the village so I'd recommend renting a bike, but many successfully hitchhike as well. A+

Excellent hostel!!!

Best place we stayed in Mexico (and we stayed in a lot of places). The owners, Lis and Tom, are super friendly, warm and welcoming and have created a fun and comfortable environment. Our private room was clean and super comfortable and had the best hot water showers of our month-long trip. This is by far the most affordable place on the beach side of the Avenue de la Playa, with the beach an easy 2-minute walk away. You'll fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing. We also met a lot of nice fellow travelers from all over.

Troncones' layout is kind of stretched out and it's nearly 3 miles from the hostel to the main part of town. It's a nice walk along the beach. We rented bikes for our entire stay. I highly recommend that. They make getting around a lot easier (and way more fun).

We loved this place and can't wait to return!

Best place we stayed in Mexico (and we stayed in a lot of places)!

The place is great.  If you're looking for a Luxury Villa, you're in the wrong place; but if you're looking for a fell-like-home facility, this is where you gotta be.  Tom and Liz are amazing hosts and Oso (the dog of the place) is quite friendly.  Enjoy a retire in one of my favorite places in Troncones.

The best season and place to rethink your reality.

A beautiful location with wonderful hosts! This hostel is more like a nice hotel if you decide to book one of the private rooms, the difference being that there is a communal kitchen overlooking the ocean where you can socialize with other world travelers. 

The staff comes through every day which keeps this hostel clean and tidy. You can also expect to see wildlife in the garden!

A beautiful place to stay!

It was an amazing hostel, with super friendly staff! Right in front of the break! Really nice kitchen aswel that was perfect for making and sharing meals. Will definitly stay here again. Thank you tom and Liz:)

Surfers dream 

Best Hostel Ever.  The rooms are amazing and the property is so cute.  However, the highlight has to be the communal kitchen, which is a beautiful, open space with panoramic views of the ocean and a delightful breeze.  I met tons of cool people at the hostel, and there were usually a few of us hanging out in the kitchen.  We cooked some delicious food with locally caught fish, produce, and fresh made tortillas.  That kitchen is the perfect place to hangout and beat the heat of the day.

The beaches right outside your door are simply world class.  In the winter, the weather is perfect.  You can walk for miles, there are beautiful rocks, and so much life!  Also good food in the area.  On top of it all, Tom and Lisa (owners) are simply the best.  So welcoming, kind and fun, while also very professional at the same time.

Could not recommend this place more.  I'll definitely be back! 

The perfect hostel

Wow what a great place! I met so many great people and had such fun adventures!  Tom and Liz run a lovely place to relax and explore the surrounding area.. Personally I was surfing and enjoyed walking down to the beach at dawn to surf on my own sometimes.  Playing cards, chatting or just reading in a hammock.. super relaxing… can’t fault it.. the beds are comfy… shower is good… even the composting toilet is a triumph!
