My husband and I travel to Oaxaca often in the winter and we choose Parador San Augustin to stay. Close to the zocalo, colonial in style, we are never disappointed. Location is perfect for us, and the colonial atmosphere and decor appealing. 

We choose a large room on the second floor facing the interior of the hotel as it is quieter. Beautiful areas to sit after a delicious breakfast just outside our room as we plan our adventures for the day in the city or around the exquisite area. 

The staff have been kind and helpful which we appreciate greatly.

We love Parador San Augustin!

Excellent value and super rooms- definitely treat yourself to the largest ones. Loved the colonial style and ambiente. Super roof terrace and other seating areas. Staff lovely and very central. It’s close to Zocalo and the markets. Didn’t have a meal there but drinks and service excellent

Colonial gem in Oaxaca

Coming here for many years we still can recommend this place:
Friendly helpful service, super central location with competitive pricing. Clean conventional rooms , most without hearing any street noise though so centrally located. Paying cash includes sumptuous breakfast is an additional benefit.

Still highly recommended

The location was excellent, so close to Centro and its many attractions. We stayed in room 210 overlooking the street, and enjoyed watching the hustle and bustle from our small balcony. We loved the high ceilings in our room and throughout the hotel. We were surprised at how quiet our room was at night. Our two double beds with four fluffy pillows were extremely comfortable, and both the room and our bathroom were huge, and nicely remodeled while retaining its character. The shower was large. The shower head didn't spray well, but was adequate for our needs. There was a flat-screen tv with many channels. The wifi was strong, especially outside our room in the common area overlooking the breakfast area. We appreciated the drinking water dispenser on every floor. Thanks for helping to save the environment and the planet.
When large groups stayed at the hotel and gathered in the restaurant area, their voices carried and echoed throughout the hotel. This wasn't a problem for us, as everyone went to bed at a decent hour. 
Our room was cleaned daily while we were out sightseeing. The restaurant downstairs served a wide variety of breakfast fare at reasonable prices. A good breakfast could be had for 80 pesos each. The staff - some of whom spoke English - was friendly and eager to please. We'd happily stay here again should we be lucky enough to return to Oaxaca City.

Loved everything about this hotel

Eli and the staff at Parador San Agustin went out of their way to make us feel at home!  They were so helpful and accommodating and always friendly and smiling at us.  David went out of his way to find a nightlight for our room, Housekeeping went to the store and bought a pillow in attempt to fill our needs, the entire staff was patient with my limited Spanish, Eli spent a lot of his time trying to find me a birding guide and the cheerful staff at breakfast started our days off with a smile.  In the evenings we often played bridge on the sunny veranda which is surrounded by blooming flowers.  The location of the hotel is outstanding.  Less than 2 blocks from the Zocalo where there are shops, restaurants, street performers, vendors walking around showing off their wares.  We ate several meals above the Zocalo listening to concerts from the balcony of the restaurant and watching dancers enjoying the cool evenings.  There are so many beautiful sites, gourmet restaurants, and activities in Oaxaca.  Don't miss out and find respite at the end of the day or for an afternoon siesta nearby in the Parador San Agustin.

Home Away from Home

We stayed 5 nights in the suite margarita. It was a lovely room with great fans. The shower was hot and strong. The location was perfect. Quick stroll to everything we wanted to do. The people were friendly and we will highly recommend staying here. Surrounded by lots of restaurant choices and close to the zocolo.

Wonderful experience

We loved our stay at this place.  Originally booked 3 nights, got upgraded to the suite, and ended up extending our stay to 10 nights.  The staff was friendly, the breakfast was great and there were lots of choices, our room was fairly quiet and the location was spot on.  No hesitation recommending this hotel.

Clean, comfortable, great location

Welcome to the 'local' and 'interior' part of Oaxaca.  Just a couple of blocks away from the  zocala.  Hotel has a small, breakfast type restaurant at the front.  Be aware, there is no elevator.  Rooms are on the ground floor and the second floor.  You won't need A/C - I doubt there are many places in this part of Mexico that actually DO have A/C!

Warm friendly staff, and a few of them do speak English but if you are not interested in immersing yourself in the local businesses, this probably is not the place for you; that said, I loved this place.

I would stay there again even though my Spanish is very marginal!

Four star boutique hotel

I booked this hotel because of its location, price, and reviews and could not be happier! The room is large and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the street. There is no AC, and street noise might bother some since an open window and fans keep the room cool, but I love the connection to the life of the city. Breakfast, included if you pay cash for the room, is delish with lots of choices. If you have to pay, it’s still a bargain! 

The Zocalo with its restaurants and people watching is a short block away and San Domingo is a pleasant stroll up the street.

My Fiancé and I stayed here for 6 nights and it was amazing! The room was cozy and the lobby/central breakfast area was beautiful. It had an open ceiling which made for a nice breeze to enjoy while having breakfast. If you pay for your stay in cash, they give you free breakfast every morning because it saves them the transaction fees. I got huevos con chorizo(my childhood favorite) every morning and it was to die for. As a Mexican I approve their yummy dishes. I wanted to stay somewhere that wasn’t an American-type chain hotel and this was exactly what I was looking for. An authentic experience of a beautiful stay with kind and courteous people. The location couldn’t have been any more perfect. Just a couple blocks from the city center which featured tasty restaurants, hand made goods, and live street music. I highly recommend anybody to stay at Hotel Parador San Agustin.
