Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya - All Inclusive

What was good

- The beach at Fairmont is insanely beautiful. It has an easy access to tractors so that stuff can efficiently clean beach from weed and other things every morning. Sand is white and sand-grains are small. This is easily the best beach* I've been to in my life. - Food is great. All the food that we had there was very well cooked. Medium-rare filet mignon stake came out medium-rare as was asked, fish is well cooked and seasoned. oysters are fresh, drinks are well made, sushi are fresh and delicious and etc. The only thing is that in Italian restaurant the fish and steak that I ordered(on different days) were over-salted. I guess it was just best luck, cause all other food was pretty good - You can order lunch to your sunbed right on a beach. When you have two little kids that never want to sit and wait in restaurant for food to be served, this is a simply life saver. This is first hotel that we know to offer this feature. If we ever come back to this resort, this particular feature will be "the why". * the only thing that annoyed me about this beach was waves breakers, which looked like dead whales. I guess they could've done wave breakers nicer.

What was bad

- All-inclusive options for this hotel is NOT all-inclusive. There are all sorts of exceptions to it. 1. You will be charged different type of extra fees every day. I'm not sure what amount it is exactly but I know it did contribute to total due we owed at check-out 2. Room service is NOT all-inclusive. The food it still included, but you pay 5$ for delivery service and I believe 15% of tips are auto-added for each order when you do in-room delivery. To be fair, I was told that tips can be waved upon request. 3. Each time after you're leaving restaurant you're given a real receipt that shows insane(for Mexico) prices for the meal you just had. Meals are not that expensive to cook in Mexico and should not be too highly-priced. The receipt also suggests tips(which are also not included). I haven't receipts but I roughly remember that lunch for 4 generated receipt around 300$ with suggested 60$ tips(20%) for that lunch. Now, I've never paid so much for lunch here in Silicon Valley for 4 and I believe price to make our meal was less that tips alone. Anyways, all these receipts was just very unpleasant experience. 4. Tips are NOT included in all-inclusive options(sounds ridiculous, right?) 5. Kids room is NOT all-inclusive. Yes there are some sessions(roughly 1hr long) that are included, but I'd say roughly 50% of sessions in kids room is for extra cost of 15$(I believe). - I encountered situation where I had to "fight" for my sunbed on the beach. I don't know exactly how it works, but seems like beach crew "sells" good sunbed spots for "tips". I complained about situation and got reimbursed one day worth of stay. - I made 2 reservations for boat tour. Both times I was told that reservation was not made when I showed up for a tour. They gave us boat tour first time(cause there was available boat) and they didn't give us boat tour second time. All extras above came out for our family as extra 25% of what we've already paid at check out.
