A sweet little guest house that has the biggest welcome you could ever ask for.  Jacquie is so down to earth . Her place is clean clean clean !!!! Good location one.block off the Malacon across the street from the Oxxo . We stayed in the Oceanview room with King bed. Had everything you needed. Need information on what to do and where to eat , just ask her she will willingly share her knowledge.  We were here in a busy weekend so just people watching from the breezy balcony was a great activity. It's funky it's cute and the bed was comfy.  We will be coming back to stay much longer next visit. Make sure you get to chat her up she is the real deal

Perfect

The B&B is a great place to stay! One block from Malecon and beach! Huge rooms, great decor and very clean and neat! Jacque (the owner) is wonderful, and Alberto makes the best breakfasts!! Had a great time in the pool and sitting on the upper covered balcony watching the water and people! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Abrazarse Life  is a great B&B

We stopped in here for lunch the day before we were leaving Progreso and liked it so much we booked a room for the next night. We had the front king room. We so enjoyed sitting on the porch relaxing. Did I mention the food was awesome? Breakfast is also included and was very good. We felt like a part of the family. So happy we found it

What a great find!

I just spent 5 weeks here. Loved the bright rooms, very comfortable beds.
Great balcony to relax on and watch the ocean. 
Excellent breakfasts, either Mexican or North American. She will cater to your food needs and likes. 
Close to the beach and easy walk downtown. 
People in the area are friendly and you always feel safe day or night.

Bright spacious rooms

First off, this is a very basic economy property that is located on the south side of Calle 21, the side farther away from the beach, with a view of the Oxxo that is apparently open all night.  The rooms are large, with older furnishings that are in need of replacement.  The room was noisy until after 10 pm, apparently due to mechanical equipment on the roof.  We were not informed that you had to turn on an electric circuit breaker in the hall if you wanted hot water until we complained about the cold shower.  We found a used Vicks Vaporub container in our bed, so we wondered if the sheets had not been changed from the prior guests.  The breakfast was good and the proprietor was very pleasant, but overall I could not give it a better rating.

Inaccurate Tripadvisor Map Location--Better Options

On account of the positive reviews and a the relatively high price at the time of booking (1,400 pesos per room per night, in the upper quartile of all Progreso lodging), we decided to give this place a try.

What a disappointment!!!

(1) The overall look of the place is that of a cheap hostel: old furniture, dirty old paint, holes in the walls from long-gone fixtures, tired old bathrooms, etc... see photos

(2) The two rooms we were given were both dirty: I unfortunately broke a glass in our room shortly after check in and used a bath towel to remove the chard from the bedroom floor. The towel came back dark brown, with various hairs of dubious origin, indicating that the floor had not been properly mopped prior to our arrival (see photo). In addition, to make matters worse, our travel partners staying in another room found a pack of Vicks in between their sheets when getting into bed, suggesting that maybe the sheets weren't changed prior to their arrival. Two big no-nos!

(3) The promised ocean view from our bedroom turned out to be a view on the Oxxo convenience store across the street. Only by looking way to the left could one catch a glimpse of the ocean in the distance (see photo). Needless to say, the Oxxo lights were on all night, providing a friendly bright glow into the room.

(4) The water pump used to fill the tinacos (roof cisterns) was extremely noisy and strategically positioned just above our room. When I pointed out the loud noise in the room to Alberto at check in, he shrugged and said that we would not hear it once we fall asleep... Luckily, the pump stopped working around 10:30 at night and was only on briefly later in the night.

(5) We all had to take a cold shower on arrival, not having been informed that the hot water in not on at all time and that one has to turn a switch on in the corridor 10 minutes prior to showering to get hot water. Not also that the water pressure in the showers diminishes to a trickle if more that one shower is used at the same time.

I have never given a place a terrible rating and would have given Abrazarse one if it weren't for the nice breakfast we enjoyed in the morning (albeit not before 9:15) and the friendly smiles from Jacque and the person helping her with breakfast.
